Shooting Zombies? Fun!

By Jediloop posted 28th March

Guns? Check! Zombies? Check! Total mayhem? Check!

It's really that simple. Tons of mindless action, served from a top-down isometric perspective. This game was made by Sigma Team of Alien Shooter fame, which produce games with one golden rule in mind: "if it isn't broken, don't fix it".

It's not a _great_ game, but it's a solid game, which can serve a lot of fun for anyone. I can easily recommend it.

Zombie Shooter review

Zombie Shooter continues the formula that Sigma Team has used in their Alien Shooter line of games. On each level you wander around shooting the hordes of enemies while picking up health, ammo and money. The money cam be used to buy new weapons, upgrade your stats, and improve the weapons you already have.

This game is a lot of fun, and I found the variety of undead monsters to be a nice change of pace from the aliens in the other Sigma Team releases. The ability to upgrade weapons is nice as well, keeping some of the lesser weapons much more useful for more of the game. Even the lowly pistols when upgraded to level 3 (the highest level) can be used to kill most of the enemies.

The pacing is great. As you get stronger and better weapons, the variety of enemies gets stronger to match. Rocket and laser shooting zombies add a nice challenge in the later missions. Level design is good, with long narrow corridors for you to kite enemies down, as well as large open rooms for mowing down enemies with the bigger guns.

The final boss was easier than he should have been, and so was a bit of a letdown. But the game up until that point was super zombie shooting fun. The game is short, completing all the levels will only take a couple if hours. But for the asking price it's a whole lot of zombie blasting fun.

I like Sigma Team's Alien Shooter Series, simply direct classic shoot-game. I think zombie shooter is more like a AS clone game , not a new game. Similar upgrade system, similar graphic, same UI,what you need to do in this game is controling your mouse to shoot zombie instead of Alien Monster in Alien Shooter. But I just take zombie shooter as a coffee time game. Still can get fun from it if you like sigma's AS.

A game that isn't quite up to snuff with other top-down shooting games with zombies in it, but still good in short bursts. Might just be worth checking out the sequel, unless you are a big zombie or top-down shooter fans.

Zombie-Diablo

By Fred_DM posted 9th January

Closely related to the same developer's Alien Shooter series, Zombie Shooter feels a bit like an expansion or mod. Gameplay is remniscient of Diablo: you proceed through levels slaying foes - zombies in this case - and improve your character's abilities as well as your arsenal. What's special about this game and the Alien Shooter series is the sheer number of enemies on-screen at any given time. It's not seldom that you are attacked by dozens of zombies at once and the total number of enemies on screen can quickly go into the hundreds.

On the technical side, the game is rather weak, with cheap looking graphics and wooden animations, but I guess better graphics would not work well with the masses of enemies this game tends to throw at you. It's a trade-off that works okay.

What can I say, its.. Zombie shooter. You run from one end of the map blasting zombies from an isometric viewpoint to the other. Occasionally you have to pick something up but you never have to think too much.

Can be fun in short bursts though nothing too spectacular and it definitely shows it's age. You could go to any flash game site and play one of thousands of these types of games for free.

Quite similar to the Alien Shooter games (no surprise there), however in this game it is zombies you're massacring with various upgradeable weapons. There's also the RPG element of upgrading your own stats, but it didn't feel like said stat upgrades had a huge effect on the game. The main motivation to experiment with different weapons is curiosity, not necessity. To me, it seems this game set out to be a fun zombie slaughter time-waster, best consumed in small doses, and it succeeded in this aim quite admirably. Wishy-washy as this sounds, it's good for what it is.

Mindless but Fun

By DraculaMarth posted 13th November 2012

You really aren't getting much more than what the title states. It's a game where you shoot zombies, but it's really fun. The only complaint I have is with aiming. It's kind of awkward. For 5 bucks, it'll provide a few hours of fun.

Your average shooter

By Vitek posted 1st November 2012

This game is nothing special, there is no groundbreaking idea and nothing to make this game more interesting and memorable.

You just kill hordes of zombies with variety of weapons. You can upgrade them, you level yourself but most of it isn't really important. In my playthrough, I even ignored most weapons and used fully upgraded pistols until I had enough money for Magma Minigun. I even never get 2 weapons.

The games is only about painting walls red (or green if you swing that way;-)), there is nothing else to it, nothing else to keep you interested. If the game would be longer, it would become boring very soon.

Still it's average game and worth it's price. At least it's promo price.

This game is fun. Top down shooter with HORDES of zombies to kill. I mean hordes, some levels must contain thousands of zombies as they just keep coming even after you've got a 5' high pile of zombie guts on the ground. Great game, highly recommended for those who just love killing zombies. My only complaint would be that they could have crammed a few thousand more zombies in this game.

Shoot some ZOMBIES!

By PauloBJ posted 17th August 2012

First, let me make it clear that I'm rating it 4 stars AMONG TOP-DOWN SHOOTERS (that's pretty obvious). Zombie Shooter is a classic top-down shooter where you shoot...huh...zombies. From the guys who brought us Alien Shooter, Zombie Shooter is basically the same game, just replacing Aliens with Zombies. If you are looking for some fast-action mindless fun, it's a good game. The controls are reasonably good, and the graphics are very decent for a top-down shooter. The A.I. is what you would expect from a "horde shooter", they basically run up to you straightforward. A good game overall.

Very much like Alien Shooter, it's simply more levels and more action, but against zombies. If you enjoy the genre, go for it, it'll help you kill some time. If you're looking for something new however, you may want to try some other game.

If you have Alien Shooter, you'll feel right at home. It's a typical eagle eye view shooter where your whole point is to run and shoot everything that moves.

It's fun, it's a great time killer, but I don't see many people feeling that attracted to it. It's really meant for those who enjoy the formula.

Very fun game for the price.

By xenozfan3 posted 12th August 2012

For less than $5 it is hard to find a twin sticks style shooter that is any good. This game has a long campaign, lots of blood, and a good amount of guns. The game is rather simple but that is what you want in games like this. Definitely recommend if top down shooters are your thing.

Zombie Shooter review

By zeodeicasia posted 1st July 2012

The graphics are dated and the gameplay is generic. You can find worse top down shooters, but you can easily find better shooters as well. The main virtue of Zombie Shooter is that it is cheap. If you want to run and gun without spending much money, this is the game for you.

A decent enough Alien Shooter type of game where you move in a top down perspective clearing area after area of enemies. Nothing particularly noteworthy or terrible. Decent enough timewaster for those that like these sorts of games.

Zombie Shooter review

Just an action game where you walk through levels shooting zombies with outdated graphics. A very simple game that will give you a few hours of fun if you like shoot'em up games.

Zombie Shooter review

By net_runner posted 20th June 2012

Classic shoot'em up game. With quite long campaign mode - which lets you upgrade/buy weapons/armor between missions. The graphics are quite dated/bad and you can't change resolution of the game. Music and sound effects are lower than average.

Zombie Shooter review

By Monnikje posted 20th June 2012

The game is simple: you walk around with some guns, and shoot zombies that come across your path. Don't expect any more than that, and you're fine with this game. It does one thing very well, and that is mindlessly blowing zombies apart in a top-down view. Great distraction from your regular work or games.

Zombie Shooter

By Chaotix posted 9th June 2012

A very straight forward game which has you fighting off hordes of undead. Zombie shooter is not as polished as some other games in the genre like Alien Breed, but the amount of zombies coming after you is the main selling point of Zombie Shooter and it takes full advantage of this. The extra modes don't add much but there is enough single player to make this one worthwhile.

Zombie Shooter review

By zzz47 posted 25th May 2012

Because you can never have enough zombies to shoot, burn and blast ! Seriously, this game keeps throwing so much zombies in so many different variations at you that at the end of the game you actually need a fully automatic energy BFG to take them all out of their miserable rotting existence. Two thumbs and two toes up, period.

Let's kill zombies!

By mefet posted 16th April 2012

Admit it, there are times when you are not in the mood for inmersive, complicated and dramatic storylines. Those days, games, it's good to have games like zombie shooter. A simple storyline that throws you into an old school isometric arcade in a zombie infested setting. Nothing more and nothing less.

Zombie Shooter review

By Kleidophoros posted 16th April 2012

From the team who made Alien Shooter, this time comes Zombie Shooter.

Basically this time you shoot zombies instead of aliens. If you liked teh Alien Shooter formula; you will want to play this game.

3 game modes with blood and gore and zombies everywhere; you might burn hours and hours if you like the genre.

Zombie Shooter review

By Paxsis posted 13th January 2012

It's certainly not GOTY material and the campaign won't keep you occupied for more than a few hours at best, but if you're looking for a good ol' run&gun game that has hundreds of zombies (per level), lots of blood and some difficulty, maybe this is for you. It has three game modes,

Campaign - Like I said, it's not very long and involves you going through a city full of zombies and other assorted monsters. You level up and gain money by mowing down the horde set before you, which you can use to upgrade your skills (Accuracy, speed, power, health) and buy new weapons. As long as you keep up with buying the newest weapon, you shouldn't have a problem. (Though Hard can become quite a chore)

Survival - Your car breaks down, stranding you in the middle of nowhere. Zombies come at you... kill them. After a number of zombies a boss will come along, and these normally drop a new weapon for you to use. It gets quite hectic quite fast, but it's a fun enough mode for when you're looking to kick back and just kill zombies.

Gun stand - You control a double-barreled turret, and zombies come at you from all sides. Fire at will.

As for story... You're a survivor. There are zombies everywhere. Kill them. Nothing much else to it. As long as you don't go into it expecting more than a run&gun experience, it's not bad.

you shoot zombies. they die. lots of blood. yay.

but yeah, thats the game. lots of pew pewing and tons of blood. it controls pretty well, WADS moves you around and the mouse points yer gun. in between levels you can level up your zombie killing man. i did however at several locations, get stuck in the background. wiggling around usually freed me but it did cause me to die a few times.

if you like shooting zombies, you certainly could do worse than this game
