Transport Giant Gold Edition 2012 review

One of the better transport games out there. In lengthy play-sessions I tend to find this more enjoyable then TTD.

I do love the way you can interact with the world around you and how it is shown, and the varaity of cars, trains, ships and plains make for a enjoyable and fun experiense. A must have for the modern Sim fan.

If you are looking at this make sure that it will play on your computer first. I have had nothing but headaches with it. Windows 7 really isn't supported you have to play in compatiblity mode for it to work. Also there issues with saving your games. The game plays great for being an oldie but the lack of support for this product really brings its value for me way down.

Transport Giant starts in 1850 industrialization is just around the corner and you see great potential in transports. Basically the game is about moving raw materials to factories producing goods. The goods are then moved to another part in the chain and so it goes on. It’s not a new concept, but it still does provide some entertainment. There are three geographical areas in which you can do business; the USA, Australia and Europe. Quite surprisingly there are differences among them, and the player needs to use different strategies for each map. In the US trucks have more power and can deliver more than in Europe. The different eras also matter in the game. In 1850 you will only be able to use horses and carts, but as time progress you will move over to trucks, trains and planes. Based on the geographical areas in the game there are three campaigns to choose from. Each of the campaigns has different challenges and opportunities, a bit like Railroad Tycoon Deluxe with events happening. In the Australian campaign your business is trying to capitalize on gold, while in the European one you are trying to get some profits by developing transportation for the Olympics. Without a doubt the campaigns are the heart of this game, and they are fairly fun to play. The other game-mode; Endless game is much more boring and unchallenged. It is basically just the game core stripped from any story or events, not very interactive.

This game is quite nice.

It remembers a lot of Transport Tycoon Deluxe or Locomotion.

I like this kind of game that you can explore your strategies against opponent.

Still a quality one of the best transit simulators. It really makes you work with the supply and demand to make money. Graphics are dated for 2011 but that's not what im looking for when playing this.

I would agree with a previous reviewer that if you liked Transport Tycoon, you'll also like this game and I too consider it a successor. The concept is the same, and although its missing a few features that TT had, it introduces some new ones along with better graphics.

There is tons of maps of USA, Europe, and Australia with location unique vehicles and terrain to match. Add to that 250+ years and you get tons of assortment and variety in almost everything. Also included is a random map generator, making for massive extended gameplay.

At times due to the dynamic economy function, it can even be quite challenging depending on difficulty level and number of competitors. Overspending, unmaintained vehicles or poor route layouts can send you into finacial ruin quickly, so take your time and plan carefully. Keep some cash on hand for the hard times and your tranport empire will flourish.

As a whole, very enjoyable game that keeps me coming back. It runs fine for me and I'm using Vista64 OS. You can even edit the ini file and run in widescreen high resolutions without ill effect.

Good game, very similar to 'transport tycoon deluxe'. It does not has anything to do with 'capitalism' though, so something I read here somewhere about buying your own stores and factories is wrong. I give it 4 stars.

Though this game is old, there's some good fun to be had here.

You set up routes from various points to make a profit from supply delivery. For example if you were to start in the 1800's you could set up ox carts to deliver wood logs being cut at a wood cutter, to a lumber mill which cuts the wood into boards.

There are a fairly wide selection of vehicles in this game including horses, trucks, boats, trains, planes.

Though it takes awhile to get use to the graphics, what I really struggled with were the camera controls. Using the arrow keys on the keyboard is almost useless, since holding one of the keys first move the camera by one notch, then a second later moves the camera very slowly. You can also click and drag your mouse to move the camera but I found myself accidentally clicking things I didn't want to. The best way I found was to move the mouse to the edge of the screen, but I still found this a little clunky because usually I use one hand on my keyboard to move the camera and one on my mouse to manipulate objects, but since I had to do both with the mouse it was more difficult to get things done.

All in all if you don't mind dated graphics this game is some good fun, if you like transportation games it wouldn't hurt to pick it up.

I have spent many many hours playing this game. The graphics aren't that good but it's really addicting and challenging. It is quite similar to Transport Tycoon with just few differences. I would say it's better than Transport Tycoon. If you like economy/building games, it's one of the best for sure... minus a little bit too last century graphics. If you want simpler game but with much better graphics, I recommend Sid Meier's Railroads. However, in that game, they focus on railroad transportation only, and not like here - roads, railroads, planes/helicopters and water, so this one is definitely more complex than Sid Meier's Railroads.

Everyone who knows me knows that I am an avid fan of the Transport Tycoon series. Naturally, everyone expects me to love Transport Giant which has all kinds of similarities. Well, they are right. This could be called Transport Tycoon Gold instead. It really updates and gives more meaning behind the direction that Transport Tycoon takes. If you a fan of Transport Tycoon, then consider this a much updated sequel.

If you liked the old "Transport Tycoon" you will also enjoy this game. Set up your business, start with some trucks or even a train, and earn your way up to planes, trains, ships and thousands of trucks! The game features many different goods to haul. You can start for example with any raw material, haul it to a factory or buy your own factory to make money of that too, and haul the finished goods to YOUR shops that you buy and place into a city. Sounds pretty neat eh?

This is a very realistick game with lots of management and controll. I can't stop playing it.

Although you can start out in any time frame I started from the begining with horse and buggy then worked my way through to semi's plans and trains as I developed through time. Realy fun and real.

Highly recomended.
