Medieval: Total War - Russian Edition

By Fred_DM posted 12th April

This is the indirect sequel to the XIII Century games by the same developer. It's essentially a Total War clone but it lacks any strategic dimension. There is no turn-based strategic part here, only a series of real-time tactical battles. In addition, the game is concerned exclusively with Russian history, which is rather refreshing from a Western perspective as that's not a common topic in Western games.

Graphics are outdated of course, but still have certain charm. They seem to be roughly on the level of Medieval II: Total War or perhaps Rome: Total War, with an overdrawn bloom effect that you can turn off.

Works fine on modern hardware and W7x64. Recommended for fans of historical strategy and for those who might be interested in Russian medieval history.

A very good game, like the previous XIII century is very hard win against the AI. The new campaign is different respect the previous ones: you receive tactical suggestions during the game and you command only a part of army in the field as subcommander, so become very important coordinate you with the AI ally for win. In multiplayer the game is fully compatible with XIII century Blood or Gold; the game has a lobby and a ladder, without problem of port forwarding.
