Majesty 2 is not a blockbuster game. It was a quiet, nice, and cheap diversion. The improvement from the first game is immense, and the first game and it's expansion were brilliant. The patch that they've released addresses most all of the issues that people had with it. Is the game perfect? No, but it doesn't have to be at a mere $5. Well worth the buy.

First thing first. The genre of this game is indirect strategy, You will not be able to control your units directly. In a way it is similar to Evil Genius.

The game itself is pretty well made, but it has some issues. For example its difficulty can ramp up pretty fast and can catch new players unprepared. For some players the pace of the game can be an issue, because the game moves quite slowly.

To be honest when this game is sold with big discount it is a instant buy. It will be hard to find better price/value ratio than this. If you are interested in indirect strategy games you should not miss out on this game.

Actually, when I first saw it on a game magazine, I didn't like it. Then I saw it in GamersGate and it was pretty cheap and I wanted to play a different game. After that, I started. It really impressed me. Why is that? Because it is more different than other strategies. You have to try it.

Great game, I loved the original and was surprised to see they finally made a sequel! fairly unique take on the RTS genre as you do not directly control your units. the main game + expansions will give plenty of hours of gameplay.

This game was a ton of fun early on and has some good potential. What kept it from getting a five star rating is that it went from fun to stale much quicker than I would have liked. I bought this collection for $4.99 though and I would highly recommend checking it out for that price (as of this post it is still on sale at that price).

Pros:

- Very clean engine. Graphics are nice and the game does a good job of handling a whole bunch of characters (heroes, monsters, peasants, guards) moving around at the same time.

- They did a good job of installing some humor into the game. I would really enjoy listening to the briefings for each mission.

- Original hybrid. I really like the basic concept.

Cons:

- Even though you don't have control over your heroes you can put them into groups. This is a good idea, but the process of forming a group is rather annoying. Then once a group is formed, I have a lot of trouble getting that particular group to do the mission I want while having my other heroes ignore the mission.

- Strategy becomes very repetitive. Some hero types are clearly better than others.

- Monsters will randomly wander in from the map borders. This is annoying because it undermines both the importance of destroying spawning grounds and the strategy of which spawning grounds you destroy first.

Excellent value for money!

Innovative game play and steep learning curve might turn off your average gamers more familiar with modern RTS games but M2 is a gem non-the-less. The gameplay gets a little hectic at the middle and devolve into a milk run later on but that's small complaint for a game that's so different and full of charm.

First Majesty was so great, but sequel is better for me. Majesty Collection contains some additional stuff so you will recive a lot of fun. Great strategy game in fantasy world.

This is a wonderful, fantastic, entertaining strategy game with a twist i've never seen before. Instead of directly controlling your troops/heroes you put out rewards for doing something. The higher the reward, the more heroes that will attempt to claim it. The game is lovely animated and really shines! A must have!

Overall, Majesty 2 is a refreshing and unique strategy game. I enjoyed it and was challenged by the expert level missions. Beginners may not like the learning curve and I must confess that I edited a few of my save files to add more gold. With multiplayer there\'s a lot of re-playability, but I still wish there was a map editor.

Majesty 2 is an RTS with a difference, that difference being, as others have mentioned, that you only control units indirectly through the placement of bounties. Adventurers may become interested, or they may go off and do their own thing... either way, keeping your economy afloat in a monster infested realm is a real challenge, and, as noted, the difficulty curve rises fairly quickly, although the game is easy to learn the basics of.

However, it's by no means a serious game. Serious in its game mechanics, yes. But the world? Well, while I won't spoil any of the plot, note the incompetence of your minister, and the marked difference between how the intro is narrated, and how it plays out. 1C, it seems, definitely have a firm grip on high fantasy's chain with this one, and pull quite firmly throughout the game. The look is good, the game is pretty good, the music fits perfectly, and my only criticism would be the difficulty curve. Everything else does its job, and fits together quite well, showing the experience of 1C in, quite simply, making good games.

Absolutely incredible game! Totally enjoyable! You get to build up your kingdom and hire heroes to defend it from monsters and foes alike, however, there is no direct control of your heroes! Insstead, you have to put out bounties on the monsters or enemy buildings and bribe your kingdoms heroes into completing what you want! I have never played anything else like this one and it deserves to get recognized! MUST BUY!!!

Majesty 2 is a very unique game. Not in the mechanics itself, because unit building, tech researching and some other classic RTS concepts are present in the game. It's unique in the fact that you do not control your units directly, but indirectly. You set the "quests", setting it's value in gold and thus attracting more or less heroes to complete it, and then spend that same money on the market you just built. It's a very interesting approach on the so beaten RTS genre, with this refreshing concept. The game does not have a extensive tutorial, but it is not complex do get going, it's quite easy in fact, pretty intuitive. Some missiong are near impossible to accomplish, so you will certainly have some hard times going through some of them (even early ones). All in all, a great game for a great price, despite some bugs (even after patched).

Majesty 2 is an interesting take on what has become a pretty hackneyed gaming genre. While much of the RTS gameplay will be familiar to veterans - building bases, training units, performing research, and casting spells - new players might be surprised to find out that they have no direct control over their units. Instead, heroes are ordered around indirectly by placing bounties on certain targets, giving those heroes an incentive to go out adventuring for the king. The game also aims to keep players amused with its light humor and satirical nature.

Unfortunately, the experience can dry up rather quickly. Most of the missions are rather repetitive, generally boiling down to a "Hey, go destroy this!" type of objective. Most scenarios play out the same way as the last, regardless of the objective, so it is unlikely that most players will even finish out the campaign. For this reason, its hard to recommend this game for anyone looking for a lasting strategy experience.

One of Paradox's great strategy games. While it is no where near as complicated or detailed as Vicy2 or EU3 it is still a great game. Paradox is the best.
