King's Bounty: Crossworlds Game of the Year Edition review

A fun and addictive strategy-rpg hybrid. The strategy part is really great and the rpg customisation allows for further enhancement of the strategic layer of the game. The only real con for me is that the towns are too small and its potential as a quest and story hub isn't really fully explored.

Do you like games like Heroes of Might and Magic? If yes, You have to play this. Title is basical game + DLC, so there is 3 big campaigns, many scenarios, countless numer opf battles and all with awesome audio-visual effects. Campaigns have interesting stories, and if you like turn-based combat you should be 100% satisfued.

What elese, game has a spirit of most popular HoMM - means Homm III. And I think this is best recommendation I am able to give this game.

This game plays remarkably similarly to the HoMM series, which isn't surprising considering the original King's Bounty inspired the first Heroes game! This edition is packed full of content, definitely worth the asking price. You recruit units, travel around, fight, trade, and level up a dragon (I called mine Terry). Graphics and UI are top notch for this kind of game, I really enjoyed both the overmap and the battle scenes (I'd actually say that I prefer to this HoMM V, although the cliche of holding HoMM III above all else would still apply here).

It throws you straight into the story if you've missed the first game, but actually I like that as it helps to capture the panic and urgency of your quest. That's not to say that you're rushed through the game - you do have time to make your decisions etc.

All of the games components fit nicely together. There's choice about what kind of character you want to play as - a battle-centric, support or magical character. Each class gets some unique features, so you could replay if you want, and this edition features three campaigns so you can always come back for something different. You have to use your dragon to level them up, but that costs RAGE resources, and they may decide to go to sleep to recover -- meanwhile your units are fighting the enemy with traditional turn-based mechanics. A lot of my men died early on in my first playthrough, but I guess I'm just a bit too kamikaze...damn those automatic retaliation strikes!

There are four different difficulties as well, so if you just want a nice romp through, easy mode lets you get away with running around and enjoying the story. Normal mode and above are all more challenging than the last (obviously), and will require progressively more strategising to be successful.

I think this game gives you a lot of different ways to play and is thoroughly enjoyable. Skirmish maps of some sort would have made this game near perfect as it would have hugely boosted replayability, but nevertheless, still a very interesting game.

If you are a fan of HOMM this game's for you. If you've played King's Bounty The Legend, this one doesn't have as much of the annoying travel between places to replenish your troops. You can quite easily quick travel between islands, and getting more troops is a lot faster than in the original game.

A solid game for anyone who likes the genre, especially if you manage to grab it on sale.

The princess addition adds an entire new campaign which is great but crosworlds was a bit disappointing to me. Orcs on the march is pretty much the same as the princess expasion (Exactly the same maps) but with new items/abilities and creatures. The other 3 are fairly short and not that great

Think of this game as kind've like heroes of might and magic but you control one character the princess. You gain gold from battles to buy more or different kinds of troops for your turn based battles. Troops range from humans, to undead to plants. I personally find the gameplay more enjoyable with the music turned off so thats why it loses one point. Other then that its nice to play a turn based game without micromanagement worries.

kings bounty crossworlds is a great game to play.

i remember the first time i played [the original] kings bounty as a young teenager at a friends house. and i loved it - got to the point that that was why i was wanting to visit him. the only thing was i forgot the name.

move forward 15+ years and here i fall in love with it again. only with much improved graphics but the same basic premise - if with a good bit more storyline than before.

very happy with this purchase, and for me, lots of replayability.

Thik about a better game than Heroes of Might and Magic. This is the game. Crossworlds will give you a good 30 hours run for the main campaign and 2 mini campaigns! The learning curve is decent and the graphics are nice and old-school. This game is a little gem and this edition is almost bug-free and really stable. The music is excellent, but it gets a little bit repetitive after a while.

All in all, I have very little bad things to say about this one. Wait for a good price and jump on this title!

A superb turnbased strategy game

While king's bounty is not an AAA game it can comepte directly with big titles like Might and Magic V, in fact it is in some way Might and Magic's "cousin" only in this game you don't have to worry about the strategic part of the game much since the tactical part is much more important.

One of the big pluses is the lovely artwork and quircky gameworld which gives each stage and army type have a distintive feel.

This bundle includes the excellent Armored princess, it's expansion and two "puzzle" dungeons that provide an extra challenge for players.

The only reson i didn't give this game 5 stars is that especially on later stages it gets a bit too "grindy" and it's difficult too recruit a satisfying army without having to backtrack a lot.

Great turn-based strategy game , plenty of interesting units to choose from .Graphics are simple but enjoyable . The combat pretty much play like heroes of might and magic , but the army management and the world map are like the old kings bounty that came out on the genesis a while ago.

The main campaign is really nice , especialy with the expantion that revamp it. Other campaign are ok .

Man do I love the Kings Bounty series.

I bought the game when there was a sale on it. I actually think I payed to little for this game. It kept me busy for a long time and it is really, really, well done.

Good quests, graphics (to bad black borders on 1080p resolution), nfty story, cool bosses and so on.

Like heroes of might and magic 3/4/5? This is something for you.

The GOTY edition includes the original Armored Princess. If you already own Armored Princess buy the standard Crossworlds instead. Crossworlds includes New spells, troops, quests, etc. using the Armored Princess maps/world.

I only tried one of the new campaigns which is mainly the arena boss fights. It's a good way to try out character builds and various troops since you get a large amount of experience after each fight.

The campaigns are focused on the battles and don't have any exploring or travel maps.

Crosswords is well worth getting if you liked the original King's Bounty.
