GAME SUMMARY

Hammerfight

Rating: 4.1 (20 votes cast)

Hammerfight is about 2D battles of flying machines equipped with various slashing, piercing and blunt weaponry.

A unique combat system is based on realistic physics simulation, and it ties the movements of the rider to the movements of your mouse. As you wave the mouse, your rider swings his warhammer, smashing the foe into the wall!

This creates an unequaled feel of the real strike, a feel of the mass of the weapon in your hands. Simulated physics and direct mouse control creates a huge variety of possible battle techniques and an unlimited field for perfecting one's fighting skill.

  • Intuitive mouse control
  • Realistic physics, breakable objects
  • Great storyline
  • High quality art
  • More that 50 weapons
  • 3 additional modes, up to 4 players

Surprisingly fun and satisfying fighting game. One of the rare fighting videogames that treats swords as sharp objects that hurt even with a sliding strike instead of just baseball bats that go through people. Campaign is short, but there are plentiful skirmish fights against bots in the arena. Love the mideast steampunk setting.

Note that the mouse speed autodetection in this game is terrible. Set the mouse bar to zero or you'll never move fast enough to put any force behind your swings.

Ive had some great fun with Hammerfight. Save its visceral, savage Combat Mechanics, the Game offers You not only Your choice of Weapon from a more than broad arsenal, but also the capability to preserve the longevity of the Game with optional Game Modes. I say that theyre optional, but really, I found them to be the best part of the whole Game. If the idea of smashing, cutting, chopping, beating, shooting, ramming, and stabbing volatile foes with hammers, maces, boulders, swords, daggers, spears, combinations of those, firearms and flails dangling off of Steampunk esque machinations, in a more or less fully destructible environment, then I cannot imagine why You wouldnt want this.

I need a bigger mousepad.

Here's a game with its own game play mechanic. Sweep the mouse around in circles to build up momentum and bash enemies into smithereens with a rock or hammer attached to your balloon ship.

The game has a delightful steampunk atmosphere, completely bonkers story, and some addictive gameplay. Make sure you upgrade your ships or you'll hit a massive difficulty spike later on.

The main problem with the game is the lack of graphics options combine with zero support for widescreen. If my monitor didn't have a 4:3 ratio button I'd be stuck playing in a tiny window. If a dev is reading please fix this!

Overall I recommend it. The gameplay is unique and the feel of bashing enemies to bits really immersive.

Hammerfight is simple. It is also very challenging, hard to learn, even harder to master. It can be frustrating throughout the game, some of the story missions are very difficult, but in the end, the multiple endings of the story, the different paths, and the insanely fun battles (also in level-based Hunt and Arena modes, and even some makeshift multiplayer with up to four mouses on one computer) more than make up for it - apart from the low price, of course!

So if you like skill- and activity-based games for quick fun, if you like rising up to a challenge by your own dexterity and knowledge increasing, this game might be just for you. Controls are very intuitive, but it really takes some time to get used to how some things react. Plus: It's hard at some times, and the learning curve is STEEP. Luckily, there is a demo available on the developers site.

Once you get used to the controls (this can take a while) this game is a gem. It is perfect for unwinding. It still has a few bugs and can slow down when a lot is happening on older systems; but considering the price I would still recommend this game to anyone

This game is fun to play and a refreshing way to spend a few bucks. A casual game, you can nevertheless enjoy the storyline, which explains more or less the reasons to enjoy quite a few battles. You need some skill and tactics to get through some episodes. The gravity is quite difficult to master and you will more than one time get your flying machine through the wall. A very nice game, I didn't find bugs. If it is on discount, grab it !
