Some people may call my method of rating & reviewing games to be unfair, but to me it's perfectly fine, since I PAID for them. My opinion of a game is initiated from the very start & revolves around 2 situations:
1. Did it install easily & correctly?
2. Did it start playing the first time I opened it up?
To me, if the above didn't happen, and the prerequisites were okay (good download, right hardware, etc.), then that tells me there are quality-control issues with that publisher & this game. I don't buy a game in order to monkey around for a whole evening in order to make it work right. It SHOULD do that immediately.
Unfortunately, NEITHER of the above happened on this game. During install, it gave a "Module Not Found" error, but installed anyway. Cool I thought. Then when I clicked the icon, the opening screen popped up, then pronishedvanished. Try it again, same thing. Try again, same. So I changed it's compatibility to Win-XP, which it was suppose to be compatible with anyway. Didn't matter.
Well, that happens sometimes. So now a complete uninstall/reinstall. Same identical situation. Now I'm frustrated, but feeling generous, so I gave it a THIRD uninstall/reinstall. THIS time it did what it SHOULD have done the first time & worked.
The game itself is good .... not great, not poor. If you like building bridges, you'll like this game. But I subtracted 1 star for a little too much cartoonish visuals when a bridge explodes. Other than that, I can't complain about the graphics nor the game-play. It's good.
Saddly however, this 4 star game turned into only a 3 star because of the way I had to fight with it to ever get the thing to actually run. A bit more time in Beta & better quality-control would have caught this bug & eliminated it. It was the game, not my computer, since it did it twice in a row & several other recent games never had a problem.
So just be aware of thal like'll like the game if bridge-sims are your thing, but you MAY have a little problem ever getting to actually play it.
