GAME SUMMARY

Alien Nations

Rating: 3 (53 votes cast)

Three interplanetary storks are travelling through space with the seed of life. Their objective is to reach three far-away, uninhabited planets on the edge of the universe. Flying over the planet Lukkat, one of the storks has an idea: "Listen," he says, "why don't we drop of our cargo here and then go for a drink?" - "But what if the Creator notices?" - "He'll never know"- "Don't tell me you are too scared!". Plop, and the first load falls towards the planet, followed by the other two. The storks then fly off to the inter-galactic bar. The three very different life forms they have left behind will now have to come to terms with each other on a planet they don't know and for which there were never destined...

Alien Nations review

Alot of game for a little price! While sure it shows its age this is a REALLY fun game that i would really love to see remade or given a sequel. I dont generally play settlement games but i found it to be enthralling and pretty easy to pick up. Its not like games of this type NEED great graphics to get good gameplay across (look at alpha centauri), at the time im sure it must have seemed amazing though.

I thought this game was great. It's a lot like settlers but just made by different people (the old settlers, which personally I liked more). You build up a town and get more citizens. They can be trained to be lumberjacks, stonecutters, etc. It really did feel like a settlers game. I had a few gripes with it and that is that you couldn't change the game speed; it felt really slow at times and I found myself just wanting to make it go a little bit faster. Also the combat in the game was a little iffy. When I ordered a soldier to attack something it would walk over to it and stand there for a while. I feel like games like this and settlers aren't really focused on combat though and I always play them as just a settlement sim of sorts. Other than that I liked the game and would recommend it for people who also liked settlers.

A fun game, it could be considered a forerunner to the AOE series in concept. Controls take a little figuring out but the game is simple and fun to play.

Graphics are a little out of date (designed for Win98) but still look alright on the modern PC. It does run on Windows 7 and does so smoothly.

The missions are good and have a nice learning curve. With a variety of objectives to complete. Overall a fun little game to play.

A cute little simulation game. Simple controls and nice graphics make this suitable for beginners, but fun and entertaining for all.
