Tank Warfare: Tunisia 1943

Tank Warfare: Tunisia 1943 - tactical battalion level combat simulation. Continuation of Graviteam Tactics series on the Western Front.

Game is comprised of two modes:

  • Operational - turn-based mode where you can shift and concentrate forces in the chosen directions, resupply and replace units, repair and refuel vehicles.
  • Tactical - real-time mode where you are conducting fire combat with the enemy, capturing territory, destroying vehicles and the enemy manpower.

Large-scale operations for the US Army and Wehrmacht with realistic organizational structure. The campaign features more than 50 detailed vehicles produced in Germany, USA and UK. Over 400 sq. km of realistic landscapes were reconstructed from topographical maps and photo and video materials.

  • Enhanced UI: functional interface of various panels, radial orders menu and other enhancements.
  • Interface appearance and customization: three variants of appearance are included, customizable unit markers (Wehrmacht, NATO, Red Army).
  • High replayability and advanced AI, which selects the best strategy based on behavior, not a predetermined script.
  • Advanced management of forces in the operational phase: reinforcement strategies and management of reserves.
  • Statistics keeping: performance of each unit is recorded (kills, losses, awards, etc.). After each battle, damages and condition of forces and vehicles, as well as telemetry are shown in the after battle statistics.
  • Battlefield simulation: realistic vision devices, smoke screens and flares, creation of trenches, explosion craters. Remnants of previous battles remain on the battlefield until the end of operation.
  • Realistic soldier behavior: each soldier has several essential parameters, such as experience level, stamina and morale, which influence their behavior and effectiveness.
  • Detailed weapon modeling and realistic ballistics: bullets and projectiles follow ballistic trajectories, taking wind, temperature and other parameters into account.
  • Advanced armor penetration: modeling based on ballistic histograms without simplifications of probabilistic methods, generation of secondary fragmentation fields takes into account many parameters, such as the change of the field shape in space, fragments and armor characteristics, armor thickness and damage conditions.
  • Complex vehicle damage system: engine, suspension, sights, weapons and targeting mechanisms can be damaged separately, affecting the combat capabilities.
  • Destructible environment: almost everything can be blown up and destroyed, from landscape surface and buildings to vehicles and enemy defensive installations.
  • Advanced control of the off-map artillery, featuring various fuse settings and shell types.
  • Formation and movement modes: lines and columns, movement by road and covertly, infantry following behind tanks, setting a delay, fire sectors, etc.
  • Automatic smoke screen laying: units set up smoke screens when enemy is spotted.
  • Dynamic change of the time of day, light sources and weather effects, influence the course of battle, visibility and area passability.

Also, you can view detailed info on each unit in the interactive encyclopedia, and an interactive tutorial will explain most aspects of the game.

Longstop Hill DLC

The British spring offensive in Tunisia was brought to a halt on the approaches to Djebel el Ahmera (Longstop Hill) by the German 5th Panzer Army. German forces took defensive positions on key heights along the roadway leading to Tunisia's capital. Despite the fierce resistance of the enemy, British 78th "Battleaxe" Division units supported by the Churchill tanks of the North Irish Horse regiment are advancing along the roadway.

  • Two operations of 21 turns for each of the parties (Djebel el Ahmera, April 23-26, 1943).
  • Precisely recreated area of over 100 sq. km: mountains smoothly grading into hilly plains with harsh terrain and extensive gullies.
  • Historical organizational structure of units at the time of the offensive.

Operation Pugilist DLC

The spring offensive of the British forces in Eastern Tunisia began with an attempt of a frontal breakthrough of the Mareth defensive line. After a massive bombing and a fire assault, British forces consisting of 50th Northumberland Infantry Division and 50th Royal Tank Regiment launched an attack on the coastal part of the Mareth line fortifications. Infantry of 8th Battalion Durham Light Infantry crossed Wadi Zigzaou and captured two small bridgeheads on the left bank: Ouerzi and Ksiba Ouest. The main obstacle for continuing the offensive is the river in flood after rains. Spanned crossings for heavy vehicles are collapsing quickly by flow of water, which made crossing difficult for tanks and artillery.

  • Two operations of 12 turns for each of the parties (Mareth Line, March 22-24, 1943).
  • Precisely recreated area of over 100 sq. km: seashore, strong points and oases, a desert with harsh terrain and extensive gullies.
  • Historical organizational structure of units at the time of the offensive.

El Guettar DLC

In the middle of March 1943, the 1st Ranger Battalion captured El Guettar oasis, meeting almost no resistance. Italian forces defending the oasis retreated and took up positions in the nearby hills. On March 20, the Rangers along with the 1st ID attacked them, captured more than 500 prisoners and a large number of ammunition and equipment. Units of 16 and 18 IR, 1st ID took positions in the mountains, east of the oasis, blocking Highway 15 leading to Gabes. The forces of 601 and 899 TD battalions were located in the second echelon, front to the highway. Artillery of the division took positions along the Keddab ridge. The German command transferred the most combat-effective 10 TD, which had more than 100 tanks and armored personnel carriers, and rapidly prepared a counter-offensive plan to capture El Guettar.

  • Two operations of 7 turns for each of the parties (El Guettar, March 23, 1943).
  • Precisely recreated area of over 200 sq. km: ridges and mountains, semi-desert with harsh terrain, marshes and extensive gullies.
  • Historical organizational structure of units at the time of the offensive.

Chewy Gooey Pass DLC

November 25, 1942, part of the battle group «Blade» consisting of the US 1st Tank Battalion, attacked the German positions in the Chouigui Pass area. Despite the stubborn resistance of the German forces and air support, the pass was captured by the forces of A/1 tbn company. Tanks of C/1 tbn company captured the bridge near Tebourba and attacked the German airfield near Djedeida, destroying more than 20 aircraft and about 36 vehicles. After this raid, the battalion's tanks took defense at the pass. The German command assembled a battle group led by Major Witzig, which was to counterattack the US positions in the Chouigui Pass.
