You probably got some kind of security installed that is preventing
the downloader to work properly.
Disable/change settings for antivirus and/or Firewalls during
download/install.
This error can only appear if you have a 64-bit version of Windows.
In some (very few) cases, with very old games, the game's installer
might indeed be incompatble with 64-bit systems. If so, then this

Move the Downloader to a folder or directory where files can be
created.

Try download or install the game on another drive. It may matter if
the drive is FAT32 or NTFS formatted.
This is also a file lock issue. See if you can do the following:
- Delete all concerning the game, reboot
- Make sure you have full admin rights....
This problem may be due to a MAC OS upgrade that the GG Downloader
not yet support.
Open Preference > Security & Privacy, in the General tab is a setting
called "Allow applications downloaded from:", select "Anywhere".
