I'm a fan of science fiction. Nearly always have been, all too often to exclusion of other genres.
I love open source stuff, though perhaps more in theory than in practice. The practice seems to have yielded enough awesome, but I'm lazy and open source stuff is for people who are more ambitious and knowledgeable than I, usually. Still, I appreciate Debian, Cave Story, Aleph One, GearHead...
I love artsy fartsy things, quite possibly as much in practice as in theory. This is not to say that I must cry or it isn't art! ... It does help, though. I'll plow through a soul-crushing tear-jerker of a game, film or book with far more zest than I will most comedies or romances (depending on your definitions.)
To be honest, the narrative of a game tends to take first priority for me. A truly great game with a mediocre story can win me over, but if it's deep and thought-provoking, I'll put up with some serious flaws in a game.
