GG Installer install a game not recognized by UPlay

By Gogondola posted 24th Jun

Its not a problem of key.

When I download the GamersGate installer, and the two patchs, install them all. Then launch the game. Then UPlay updates itself, I activated in it the FC3 key provided by GamersGate.

But then if I launch FarCry 3 it isnt recognized by UPlay.

So did I downloaded all the GG files for nothing?

At this point I must launch UPlay and download (again) and install the game through UPlay, alas that Uplay installer crash.

So I wondered if theres something I did wrong with GamersGate installer Id prefer use because it doesnt crash.

Does your Ubisoft game launcher working properly? in not then you will need to manually install the GameLauncher software, which handles the online authentication in the game. Please note that this software MUST be installed to play the game, and cannot be uninstalled or disabled.

1. First, you will need to uninstall the Ubisoft Game Launcher software from the Add/Remove Programs (Windows XP) / Installed Programs (Windows Vista and 7) icon in your computers control panel. Its possible that the Ubisoft Game Launcher software will not be listed if you have already uninstalled it, or the game. If so, you can skip this step.

2. After uninstalling the software, you will need to manually delete any leftover files in the C:Program FilesUbisoftUbisoft Game Launcher (32-bit versions of Windows) or C:Program Files (x86)UbisoftUbisoft Game Launcher (64-bit versions of Windows). Please do not skip this step, it is very important. If this folder does not exist, please go to the next step.

3. Reinstall the GameLauncher software from this Link: ( static3.cdn.ubi.com/orbit/launcher_installer/UbisoftGameLauncherInstaller.exe )
Once installed, you should be able to start the game

Thank you but I think I already tried. Anyway, have I understood well:
I donwload installer and patchs from GamersGate.
Install the game with them.
Then uninstall UPlay and delete Ubisoft Game Launcher folder.
Then download an UPLay installer.
Then install Uplay with this installer.
Then Far Cry 3 installed by gamergate will be recognised by this Uplay?

It seems that with the new version of the launcher you cant launch the game directly but it launch the client and from it you need launch the game and thats where I had troubles.

Ikk suppose I understood well your suggestion and will try it, thnks but few hope, I think last uplay version is very bad.

You can also just install UPlay and register the game there, using UPlays DRM and download it directly from UPlay.

It sounds like you did not register the game with Uplay. Simply take the game serial code and add it to your Uplay acount

The game is already registered in uplay. No do everything from uplay didnt worked.

dimitry87 suggestion solved the problem I asked, ie game installed with GamersGate are now recognized by uplay by doing what he mentions. Now its uplay that fail launch the game but well thats another problem. dimitry87 answered my initial question, I close it.

For ubi garbage with uplay I give up, its in part because of my config but a large part is how badly programed is that garbage. I wont request a refund but Ill stop lost time with that game. And will never buy again a game requiring uplay. Go right now requesting refun for the FC3 upgrade to special edition I didnt downloaded to reveald the key. And Ill check if I have no more ubi game like that to also request a refund.
