Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific

Re-activating games

By dmgg71 posted 21st Jun

I dont know if the procedure differs between games but Ive bought the Silent Hunter pack, so Id like to know about III, IV and V.

If I activate a game and then change hardware or build a complete new PC, can I activate it again on the new hardware. Do I have to de-activate it first on the old hardware (which might be impossible if its damaged)?

Am I correct to assume you did not redeem this game on Steam?

I tried actually out of curiousity but its not a valid serial for Steam.

the game is tied directly to whatever account you have activated it with like steam, origin or uplay

By dmgg71 posted 21st Jun

I havent activated it at all yet.

I know Steam doesnt care about hardware and I can login, install and play my games on any PC but as I say, it cant be activated on Steam and I dont know anything about uplay, which I understand the Silent Hunters Ive bought here have to be activated on. When I launch it, I just get a TAGES serial activation prompt though, so I dont know if it uses uplay or not.

These are not Steam games (at least not when bought from GG), nor Uplay. The games use standalone installers with Tagès protection. If a game uses Steam or Uplay, then this is stated explicitly on the product page.

The number of activations per serial may indeed be limited, but only the publisher can tell for sure. Regardless, GamersGate will refresh your key if you have run out of activations - just contact support. Of course, de-activating a version thats not going to be used any more is still recommended (if possible), because it makes limited-activation keys last longer.

Ah, OK. I obviously misunderstood where it says A PERMANENT INTERNET CONNECTION AND CREATION OF A UBISOFT ACCOUNT ARE REQUIRED TO PLAY THIS VIDEO GAME AT ALL TIMES AND TO UNLOCK EXCLUSIVE CONTENT, to mean it uses uplay then.

If GG will refresh my key when needed though, thats good enough for me.

Psyringe covered it all basically. The only other thing you might need to know is that if you have a 64 bit operating system, such as Windows 7 or 8, or some few versions of Vista, etc, you may need to update Tages DRM system to work with it. Here is the page you need. Click on the link on the bottom and a choice of updated drivers for Tages will be on the next page, one is for 64 bit, one is for the other.

http://www.tagesprotection.com/main.htm?page=minimum.htm

Just in case it doesnt have in the game the latest version of Tages, this is known to solve the problem.
