Alien Nations cannot find CD

By neo-zander posted 11th July 2012

I have installed Alien Nations from gamers gate but everytime I launch it asks for a CD. I looked up the only other question about the game and it suggested I turn off my security. Tried that and I got the same results. Any suggestions? I hate to have spent money for nothing on this.

As the board is empty http://forum.nordicgames.at/forumdisplay.php?312-Alien-Nations-English-Board
there is the option you contact them http://www.nordicgames.at/index.php/contact
although they seem to not support that game. So this leads to the other option: from the game site: http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-ALIENN/alien-nations go to the profile of the players who reviewed the game and send them a message asking how they achieved it.

It sounds like the install files have been corrupted by your anti-virus software during downloadng, this is pretty common.
You should try uninstalling the game and deleting the temporary files. Then disable your anti-virus software and download and install the game again, only reenable your AV once the game is fully installed.

yes you do have a corrupted download and caused by your anti virus and this is extremely common for this old game,as for those saying to use a no cd crack well yes those can work in making retail copy work without needing a cd but as this is a digital version this need isnt valid here,if you were to use those for any multiplayer online games that would be considered illegal and get you kicked and banned from the game with the effect of being branded a cheat which is something you don't want. This is easily solved and no need to use any form or patch or crack.

Thats what I figured Demondean, Im wary of anything that does a no-cd patch and such, I like my software legit, but I like it to work too.

Anyway thanks to Alcifer and Demondean for setting me on the right track to get this working. Just reinstalled it and works like a charm now.
