Crusader Kings II: African Portraits review

Good for what it is. Differentiates sub-saharan African facial features from those of Arabs. So, if you're playing as Mali (or a Mande culture character) or Nubia/Abyssinia (or an Ethiophian character), this provides a much needed revamp of the original game.

Decent enough DLC if you can get it on sale. $2.00 is too much in my opinion. They should have bundled this with the African sprite pack to make it worth $2.00

The african portraits are okay, but would be better if they had more kinds of facepaint. As it is, every duke level african has the same white facepaint so it looks kind of weird.

Alright, so this is just a cosmetic pack, but it does help a lot with the immersion. Instead of looking like Arabs or whatever, Africans now look like Africans - and not just any to boot. Even if you're not one for cosmetics, I recommend picking this up when it's on one of the regular 50%-75% sales; I don't think you'll regret it if you ever scroll below the Maghreb in your games.

Its a quite neat DLC and a requirement like the african face pack for many wonderfull graphic mods that will even enhance your portraits much further. Recommended.

This is a cosmetic only DLC but it adds some nice flavor is you interact with Nubia, Abyssinia, Mali, Songhay or Ghana much.

This is actually a cosmetic DLC. You gotta grab it you want your African characters to look like Africans, not like Arabs or Turks.

A welcome change in African portrait which now do actually look African rather the painted europeans. Worth getting if you want to support the game.

This doesn't change any gameplay, but it does add to your immersion in the game. The African characters look visibly different to the Europeans.

It's a small, cheap addition to the game, ideal for using up your blue coins.

Like I've said in my other reviews for CK2, this DLC does not change any gameplay. It's exactly what it says, some portraits for African characters. If you want to support the developers, wait for it to go on sale like I did.

Only adds accurate portraits to African nations, but is really enjoyable when you play one of them.

A minor improvement of the game. It is not essential in any measure. $2.00 is a bit price for such a minor update, but if you can catch a sale, there's not reason not to make you game more beautiful. (considering you'll spend a lot of hours in this game.)

Purely cosmetic DLC. Adds Arfrican Portraits. This can be very usefull if you are playing a muslim and africa, because they have a different look.

Very nice faces! The Afticans not longer look like Arabs. Make a good flavour for the game. Yes it's optional... But this don't affekt the vote.

I can't stress enough that most of the DLC for Crusader Kings II, despite being relatively affordable and pleasing additions to the game, add not significant content to the game ... grab this if you want your Africans rulers to look, well, African (and the portraits are pretty well done), but I'm sure you can live without this.
