ArmA 2: Army of the Czech Republic review

This DLC, with it's inclusion of an entire new army, countless new weapons and two new summer-based European-style maps (though obviously not as big as autumn-based Chernarus), and ofcourse it's various single missions and single player campaign more than justify the price of admission.

Furthermore all the content is made available to everybody by Bohemia Interactive, including those that do not pay for the DLC. They simply get a low-res version of the models and weapons to play with, while the maps came for free in a patch, as was the case for British Armed Forces and the PMC DLC. This insures that the playerbase is not fractured by the various DLC, all can play! It is worth supporting BIS for that too, as this is the way things should be for all DLC for every game.

So, this DLC gets 5/5 from me!

The only reason I can think of as to why Bohemia would make this DLC is to pay tribute to the Czech armed forces. Since the actual Czech units and veichles look good but the rest of the content seem to have been copied and rushed. The scenarios would be a nice introduction/tutorial but most people who buy probably already have Arma 2 or OA so it makes no sense really. The Campaign is allright but there is no real styory and the briefing/notes are absolut rubbish. Seems like they google translated evrything. But the biggest dissapointment with this DLC are the maps. They are LITERALLY copied and pasted pieces of the Cheranrus map. They didnt even mix it up. WTF Bohemia? You didnt think I would recognize the village/town/forrest I had been fighting in for the last couple of years? I did not expect this. Least of all from you Bohemia. Please dont let me down again. Especially not with Arma 3.

To be honest this DLC is just not of the same quality of those that have gone before namely BAF PMC etc. The models are average, the translation (text) to English for mission briefings is ridiculous. Did anyone even proof read it!! The campaign is not terribly exciting and to round things of despite all other DLC working this one has the occasional crash to desktop which needs to be rectified to make it playable.

ArmA 2: Army of the Czech Republic review

As of this writing, this DLC only has 4 scenarios and a campaign. The missions are just a showcase, obstacle course, a procedural generated template mission, and a shooting range. The lack of scenarios makes this expansion really disappointing. The campaign is nothing too special either, lacking a lot of production values the other ones had. I would wait till this disappointing dlc gets cheaper or has more content.
