The Sims 3 has a little better graphics, but I actually think the characters you make in Sims 2 are better looking. One thing, there isn't many hair styles for female characters, and of the ones there are, half of them look butch. Then they took some of the fun stuff out of SIms 3 also. You can't throw a drink in anyone's face like you can in Sims 2. You also can't lock people in buildings then burn the building down like you can in SIms 2 as well. You can set them on fire, but the fire department is always able to put the fire out, no matter how much they are blocked from the fire. Also, the 'make out' option is a lot more erotic looking in Sims 2 than in Sims 3.

After quite a few years of not playing Sims games (I haven't played since the original and skipped over the second) I have to say that playing the third is not only refreshingly new in many ways but somehow also just similar enough to welcome back any former fans of the franchise. The aging process adds a surprising twist to the game play- you will feel sad when your Sims age and equally happy when your family tree expands with a new character which you can build from "day" one. Overall, a must buy for any fan of the series even without expansions

I love the Sims. It's so much fun to just create a crazy, kleptomaniac and go around terrorizing the neighbors and stealing their stuff. The sandbox nature of the game means that everyone is going to be able to find something they like. Highly recommended.

Out of all the Sims games i've played over the years, this one has got to be my favorite. It has so much to offer, & you end up doing new things everytime you play. & the constant DLCs they release keep you hooked. I play this game every couple of days because it's so awesome. It's definitely worth the price. :)

For the first time ever The Sims playing in a open-world environment, no more loading screen just to travel outside of your own home though as expected it felt limited in features compare to previous Sims 2 with all expansion packs. One of the biggest thing missing is the weather system.

The menu for picking/changing a family to play can be confusing unlike in The Sims 2 where you can point and click at different family that you want to play different Sim, in Sims 3 you have to exit out the current Sim you're playing and then select different Sim you want to play. The menu will require time to get used to it.

This is a fun game. Not a huge step above Sims 2, especially if you have lots of expansions for Sims 2. However, quite fun, better character creation, way more non-career things to do, and a lot more replayability.

Great game to add onto the series of The Sims. One of the great things added to The Sims 3 is the option to purchase a part of a corporation or the entire thing, providing a nice passive income. The growing "community" areas also make it a lot easier to make friends, and satisfy the social and fun needs. It would have been nice to see some better things to do once your career has been established and you have the time, but hey it can't always be perfect. I give The Sims 3 a 9 out of ten.
