Neverwinter Nights™ 2: Gold review

By DavidGil posted 3rd Aug 2010

Neverwinter Nights 2 Gold Edition is good value for money. It offers a lot of playtime and character customisation, plus the singleplayer campaigns are also good. In particular, the Mask of the Betrayer campaign contains a really good story and it is up there with the very best stories found in games.

The game is still marred by some bugs though I've found, which is what helps prevent a perfect score. In addition, the multiplayer is not as great as the first's. The singleplayer being better than the first game's singleplayer makes up for it though.

Overall, if you enjoy deep rpgs and dungeons and dragons, it's well worth getting. Also, it's worthwhile looking into if you appreciate a good story (Mask of the Betrayer).

The game is fine, but calling it gold edition when it has only one of the three expansions published is preposterous. Should be rather called copper or something.

Bah, at 15€ this game can't be passed if you don't have it, or just to get the expansion !

That's pure 3.5 D&D goodness, with scores of user contents and modules available. In 3 years the game has been fully patched and enhanced, and is good-looking on modern machines (it was slow with "average" rigs 3 years ago..)
