City Life 2008 review

The class dynamics system is well thought out and keeping all of the factions satisfied is a fun challenge. The game runs well and is free of the slowdowns and memory leaks that plague many other city building games.

What prevents the game from getting a five star rating in my book is that the game is a little short. There is not much variety in the buildings and all of the scenarios have similar objectives, so once you've played through a single map and unlocked all of the buildings once, you've already done just about everything there is to do in the game.

This is a decent city sim game, definitely better than sim city societies, but the game is lacking in buildings and variety when compared to sim city 4 deluxe, thus for me the game was a bit short. Seems a worthy game to me at a discount $4 or less which is what I paid.

City Life 2008 review

City Life is an underrated and largely forgotten gem in the pantheon of city simulations. With more of a focus on social and class dynamics than merely economics, City Life perhaps has more in common with Sim City: Societies than Sim City 4 or CitiesXL. Don't let this fact discourage you, however, as City Life is infinitely superior to Sim City: Societies.

The game requires you to juggle the competing interests of six unique sub-cultures within your city without completely alienating any of them, as each is vital to your city's success. I heatedly recommend this game to any City Builder fan. Especially those who were disappointed with Sim City: Societies.
