Great Funny Game

By ptt5010 posted 8th May

Ok, this game is hysterical. The dialog made me laugh, the way they worked with the graphics was fun, its zombies at its finest... I mean mindless shooting with limited story, that's what we want in our zombie games right? The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is it was short. I beat it in 1 night, but it was worth every minute, and it was cheap. If you need to blow some time, this is a great game for the job.

Zombies is a fun twin-stick style shooter. The game uses a simple retro graphics style that looks good and plays well. Proceed through 27 levels, picking up weapons ranging from melee weapons like baseball bats and chainsaws, to shotguns, uzis and molotov cocktails (fire bombs).

Controls work very well. In my case I used wasd to move and the mouse to shoot. The mouse wheel scrolls through your available weapons.

The enemies are the remains of your zombified office coworkers. The sounds are well done, with the zombies spouting office catchwords like "SYNERGY!" in addition to the more traditional roars and groans. Gun shots and explosion sounds are reminiscent of the old 8bit game sounds.

The gameplay is fast and fun. The levels are all relatively snort, lasting less than 10 minutes each. Some levels are fully lit, and others are dark requiring the use of a flashlight to see enemies. The dark levels are particularly fun, as that increases the chance of zombies sneaking up on you from behind. The short levels and variety of areas keeps the game moving along well and is fun to play.

There are several boss battles as well, generally comprised of the zombified versions of the various management and executive types from the workplace. The developer put some fun tongue in cheek thought into these bosses, having them throw weapons like golf clubs and red tape at you.

And the soundtrack also must be mentioned. It is fantastic, with an option in-game to download the soundtrack. Bignic really did an awesome job on this soundtrack.

4 stars for the game itself, but the addition of the amazing zoundtrack boosts it to 5 stars. Worth every penny of the $4 asking price.

An actually quite deep pixel art action game. Unlike many such pixel art efforts it actually is drawn and animated with character and style and the awkward amateur cutscene voice work between missions merely adds to the minimalistic feel. Gameplay is good, with levels starting off simple but later on you have to juggle your arsenal really well to combat the increasingly large numbers of zombies.

I expected a quick little arcade arena shooter, and that is exactly what this game is. I absolutely love the art style, and the scenes between missions can make you laugh.

The game is short, but each level tracks stats, so you can always go back and try to destroy more things than last time, or hunt down those 2 zombies you missed the first time. I also found the pacing of the game well done. There is a steady stream of new weapons to try out, and new enemy types to try them on. I found the levels changing up just enough to not get extremely repetitive.

This is a great game for what it is. Don't expect too much from this game, and you will have a great time playing through it.

Zombies. is a very simple time waster of average quality. The story is about an office worker in Canada (his nationality is almost an repeated in-joke) whose bosses all end up being undead (with the whole corporate zombie trope in full effect). Each level requires you to either kill all the zombies in the area, or reach an exit, and the level ends when one of the two goals are met.

The levels start with these strange audio dramas that sound like they were recorded on a phone, full of weird and bad humor. The layout of the level is isometric, which is strange because the controls don't take that into account. Everything is is in 3 dimensional isometry, but you, a flat character, move in the cardinal directions with WASD. That being said, the Y (Z?) axis is also really spotty here for that reason. Zombies are very easy to hit when they are beside you, but if they are above or below you, chances are good that they'll hit you, leading to a very frustrating set of first few levels, since you don't get a projectile weapon for what seems like forever.

After you do get a real weapon, the game becomes a cake walk. Honestly, I spent what seemed like an hour punching my way through my first few levels, but after I got the pistol or shotgun or cocktail, I was clearing out entire levels in under 3 minutes. The boss fights are one on one matches (mostly) with a single zombie with a ridiculous amount of health. You will deplete your ammo count for at least a weapon or two before taking it down.

Overall, kinda neat, kinda nice, worth two or three dollars. You can beat the game in an hour, if you take your time through the melee stages. Cute aesthetics, interesting sprite work (good animation for what it is). Was definitely worth being included in the Indiefort bundle, but may not warrant a standalone purchase without a serious sale.

It's like The Office and a zombie movie had a pixelated baby. And that's not bad! A pretty fun and comedic little indie game about killing zombies in the office, getting the girl, etc.

A simplist and precious Zombie hack and slash game. You just have to reach the exit of the level, and by the way, killing zombies and saving people to increase your score.

I didn't have high hopes for Zombies, basing my initial impression on the game's seemingly lackluster graphics. However, the zaney intense gameplay quickly won me over, and the incredible soundtrack kept me playing! This game is simply perfect for unwinding after a long day at the office =D

THIS is a great game.

You don't exactly know what you are doing, and then again you do.

Running around killing zombies with the different weapons you can find. But are they really zombies or just really too hard working people?

Better find that out yourself.

I instantly knew what to do with the surroundings when i got in the game. It has it's little funny moments, but then again, it is not meant to be taken serious in any form.

I can recommend this game, and for the 3€ it is right now. You should really give it a try.

This a very fun game, it doesn't look like much, but trust me, it will keep you amused for hours. Overall it's a nice little indie-game that brings you back to old-school gaming while incorporating modern styles as well. Very fun, and a great value.
