I love this game, graphics are adequate. strategy is fun to play when it has a interface like this. Very good storyline that quickly pulls into the thick of things :)

Very impressive game indeed, its often a feeling of been there done that with many RTS games but this title certainly takes a new approach and huge leap in the quality of the graphics. Although I love graphics sometimes the game suffers due to, too much emphasis placed in the graphics alone. Here you have the best of two worlds, jaw dropping graphics and great game play. This is a rare gem and one I would certainly recommend to anyone who loves a great RTS game.

You are a member of the United States Armed Forces, and you have received word that the Russians have attacked NATO. The U.S. military responds; unfortunately, this leaves our west coast relatively unprotected. The game shows a cutscene of Russian troop ships attacking Seattle, Washington.
No longer do you have to sit back and dream, "What if this happened?". World In Conflict supplies you with this scenario. But a game with this much scope
doesn't keep you hanging: it contains an extremely detailed Tutorial Mode which takes you step-by-step, familiarizing you with the controls of the game. The pace of the tutorial is top-notch: the next lesson does not proceed until you are ready for it.
You might be thinking in the back of your mind, "Ho-hum, another RTS game." Not at all. This game removes the tedious chores of both base-building and
resource-gathering, and instead places you into the meat of the game - combat. You don't command the entire war: instead you're in command of a small unit, and the AI assigns you specific Primary and Secondary Objectives for each mission. In order to proceed to the next mission the Primary Objectives must be met. The Secondary Objectives are optional; however, you'll find out later in the game that you'll receive valuable points for successfully completing those Secondary Objectives: which can be used toward special attacks such as artillery fire or a strafing run by fighter pilots.
The developers pulled out all of the stops for World In Conflict: the graphics are coded with nVidia-specific graphics commands, which has earned this game the coveted TWIMBP (The Way It's Meant To Be Played) Rating from nVidia. Smoke from fires and explosions appear frightengly real. Sound is completely accurate and realistic. The mouse sensitivity is superb, and camera movement
leaves little, if anything, to be desired. I have not encountered any framerate issues nor any crashes under XP SP3.
With the tediousness found in many RTS games removed, you'll find World In Conflict to be both enjoyable and immersive, and the price doesn't impose on your wallet. A RTS with as much action as this game has is well worth the purchase price.

Excellent modern strategy game. Multiplayer is a lot of fun with its different squads (infantry, armored, support and air) where you control only one at the time. This game needs you to work as a team and organize your actions before jumping in the fight!
The storyline is not bad, but the multiplayer is the fun part!

World in Conflict is a fun and interesting tactical warfare game. Although WiC is listed as a strategy game, it is indisputably a tactical game. There is no base building or resource collecting anywhere in the game. Your units are air dropped in, when you spend an allotted amount of requisition points. If your units are destroyed you will recover those points, but it will take time for them to become available again. WiC brings a lot of war together fairly accurately (and at the same time inaccurately), but it manages to keep it fun.
The game plays almost identically to Ground Control II. You are given objectives to accomplish your mission. Most objectives consist of destroy enemies at point X, capture point X, or hold point X. It sounds boring on paper, but when you get into the thick of it, avoiding enemy combat support, or holding a position against a much larger enemy force, it's VERY fun (and frustrating when you do something stupid).
Speaking of getting into the thick of it, WiC has an odd pace. At times it feels as if you could dink around all day near your allies, and at other times it feels as if you barely have enough time to manage your men. Along with the pace comes a fair amount of micromanagement. Sometimes your units do a fairly good job of taking out enemies smartly, and can get from point A to point B without too many problems, however there are times when the AI needs to be overridden. Fortunately you don't have a base to fuss about with, so your focus will always be on your units, so the AI isn't really a problem.
One of the more interesting points, not often seen in strategy games, is a fairly touching story. Soviet Assault makes shows a good balance of missions from both sides of the story, as well as the stories of the Soviet troops. I haven't played the vanilla WiC, but if it's the same with the exception of the Soviet missions and cutscenes, it seems that it would have been terribly one-sided.
Overall WiC is a great game. I have enjoyed every mission, and there isn't a single one that I regret having to go through (I only regret not doing all the optional objectives the first time). Slaughtering your enemies with napalm or carpet bombing has never been so fun.
