Wallace and Gromit's Grand Adventures: Episode 1 - Fright of the Bumblebees review
I did not know much about Wallace and Gromit before playing this game, but having done so I can say that I am now a fan. The humour here is more quiet and not like the in-your-face slapstick that defines Sam & Max, but you will be charmed by the juxtaposition of brilliance and silliness in Wallace and the stoic character of Gromit. Buy the entire season as a bundle for best value!
Wallace and Gromit's Grand Adventures: Episode 1 - Fright of the Bumblebees review
A really good modern day point-and-click adventure starring the stop-motion clay characters Wallace and Grommit. Keeps the look and feel from the TV-show which makes this a really enjoyable title.
Wallace and Gromit's Grand Adventures: Episode 1 - Fright of the Bumblebees review
Another solid entry in the Telltale games collection! While not quite as humorous as the Sam and Max series, the game starts things off quite strong with a good collection of puzzles, simple mechanics, and a fun story.
Wallace and Gromit's Grand Adventures: Episode 1 - Fright of the Bumblebees review
Telltale Games have garnered acclaim among adventure enthusiasts with their episode-based creations. Wallace and Gromit's Grand Adventures Episode 1 is no exception to the rule: it delivers a first-class adventuring experience with logical puzzles, solid playability and humour.
The game utilises a full 3D world view, which may represent a problem to some of the more puritanical adventure gamers out there. However, in comparison to some of the old classics such as Grim Fandango, this does not hinder the gameplay at all, and thus does not require 'getting used to'. Equally importantly, the game comes without pixel hunting. The graphics are faithful to the original Wallace and Gromit series, and the dialogue follows suit perfectly. The same goes for the plot, which could have been nicked straight out of a TV episode - silly and funny!
A word of warning should be given, though: if you are not a fan of the series and a veteran adventurist, you might find the game somewhat too childish and unchallenging at places. If, like me, you loath impossible designer puzzles and always enjoy a good laugh, give Wallace and Gromit a chance!
