Tortuga - Two Treasures review

By AzureKite posted 14th Sep 2010

This action/adventure game is quite straightforward plot-wise and graphically old. Despite that, it managed to keep me interested long enough to finish it. Story, being linear as it is and not very original, involves some mystical elements, treasure hunting and some love story. Sea combat is arcade, but fun, delivering rather beautiful images of ocean view even with the old engine the game has. Melee combat is on the other hand really frustrating. The character doesn't have many moves and combinations, enemies sometimes overwhelm him in numbers and, while ship sequences offer the possibility to save the game, during land missions the hero doesn't have that leasure.

Resume: fun game for a couple of evenings for those who love pirates and stuff.

Game tries to be next "Sid Meier's Pirates" but game is too linear and there is nothing more to do than follow story.

Graphics is good and naval battles are fun to play. Story is basic and get's lot's of inspiration from Pirates of Caribean movie series.

It's nice game to spend some time. But only if you enjoy linear gameplay.
