GAME SUMMARY

Towns

Rating: 4.3 (284 votes cast)

Towns brings a fresh new take on the citybuilding/management genre by introducing many RPG features.

Drawing inspiration from games such as Diablo, Dungeon Keeper and Dwarf Fortress, the game has you managing a settlement on top of an active dungeon. Instead of playing the hero who delves deep into the dungeon, how about playing the town that houses and caters to the hero's needs?

Both the RPG and strategic aspects will be fleshed out over a series of sprawling dungeons.

Craft unique weapons, obtain randomized loot and build a settlement capable of holding back the forces that come up from the depths!

NOTE:  This game is a work in progress.  Regular updates will be improving the game over time, but bugs and missing features are to be expected at this early stage.  By purchasing the game now at this early stage you are supporting development and getting it for a lower price.

Towns (Alpha) review

By Coman posted 24th January 2012

A interesting indy game in the spirit of Dwarf Fortress. It's clearly still heavy in development, but it shaping up to be an interesting game. It already fun to play at it's current stage and will be fun to keep an eye on it progress.

The basic of the game are easy to learn, but the game is hard to master. You gather resources, build buildings, mine into the ground and discover caves filled with monsters who will give you more resource so you can create stronger and more powerfull weapons. The interface is clear and easy to learn. The graphics are nothing special. Very basic, but good enough for this type of game. The same counts for the sounds, but as it's still in development both are bound to improve.

The only big negative point I have at the time of writing is that you hardly have control over your poeple. They do not have skills, you can not assign them to certain buildings and they simply attack everything once you made them a soldier, with is kinda bad when you opend up a cave with 100s of creatures. This also distroys the diversity a little bit and make every game round rougly the same, beside a different generated world.

Towns (Alpha) review

Currently in its alpha state and has more room for improvements. I hope the developers will pull it of in the end but so far a good game.

In this game you control some villagers and you let them gather resources such as food, wood, stones and etc. The resources could be made into walls for your structures and some materials something like a crafting table/workbench that would enable your villagers to craft more advance items that they could use.

The game reminds me of something like the settlers series.
