Talisman is a game in which you take on the role of a heroic adventurer, building up your strength, wisdom, and wealth in a quest for glory. Talisman Prologue brings all the fun of the classic board game and more to the digital realm. Talisman Prologue is the first release in this exciting adaptation of the classic board game.

The legend begins with a single-player series of adventures designed to invite both veterans and newcomers to explore the land of Talisman. While multiplayer gameplay will be available in upcoming expansions, Talisman Prologue focuses on creating narrative depth through its single-player campaigns. The story unfolds as the player rolls dice to move around the outer, middle, and inner regions of the board. Each space will require the player to draw a card or resolve a special effect, leading your hero to encounter monsters, discover friendly followers, and gather treasure.

While Talisman Prologue uses the rules of the board game, there are some differences in the gameplay. The biggest new addition to the game is the introduction of quests. In the classic board game of Talisman, the goal is to reach the Crown of Command and claim it. In order to provide a varied, rich, and story-focused experience each time you play Talisman Prologue, you play one of fifty unique quests for each of its ten characters. The quests have goals that the player must complete in order to lead his hero to victory. You may be tasked with saving a damsel in distress, recovering a powerful artifact of legend, or fending off an immense horde of monsters!

In Talisman Prologue, you never have to wait your turn, but the turns still count for something. Finishing quests in as few turns as possible earns players between one and three Talisman tokens that rate your success. Learn the spaces on the board, get familiar with your weapons and followers, and make the most efficient use of your turns to get all three Talismans!

Whether you are a long-time fan of Talisman or new to this game of magical quests, Talisman Prologue offers the thrill of adventure to all comers.

Talisman Prologue Deluxe Edition review

By wingers17 posted 29th January

My all time favorite board game comes to PC! Nice single player game. Each character has quest to complete which unlock as you play. The game follows the board game rules, with some changes.

Great game and love the fact can play without getting friends together. Graphics and music are perfect for this game.

Very glad I purchased the deluxe edition.

Good for nostalgia, but not yet ready for prime time

This game will be of interest mostly to those who have played the board game in the past (or are still playing it). It has good nostalgic value, but it is very incomplete at this stage. There is no multiplayer (it's a planned expansion), which should be the centerpiece of a game like this one. So far, I haven't encountered any AI players either, so you can't even simulate the experience. What you get is a series of quests that you play alone. This becomes most absurd when you pick a card that says "Skip a turn". Really? So what? No one is there to take advantage of this. There's also no threat if you're toaded or have to drop equipment. You can litter the board with discarded loot and no one will pick it up. Until this becomes multiplayer, this game is no more than a curiosity for fans of the franchise. Anyone else should deduct a star and either avoid it or buy it knowing that it's only the first piece of a bigger whole to come. Another irritating limitation that you should be aware of: (a) there are few of the characters available, with others presumably to be added as expansions, and (b) the few characters that are there are locked until you complete certain quests. If you want to start with the Prophetess, tough luck! You have to play through all the other characters first, though only for one "quest" each. The quests, by the way, are of the type, "acquire such and such objects" or "deliver this follower to this location". That's good for a tutorial or two, but it's needlessly contrived as a basic playing mechanism. My advice to Nomad Games is this: get the expansions out ASAP before the game earns a bad reputation that it may not be able to overcome. And don't get too greedy when selling them or you could torpedo your own boat.
