Not so good, actually...

By CatzLock posted 15th September 2012

I usually try to find a good thing to say about every game that I play, but... "They are Alive!" has hardly any redeeming quality. The gameplay feels dull and repetitive, and there's not a lot of variety when it comes to enemies and weapons (you will only find around six, and the ammunition for the firearms becomes really scarce during the last mission). The game is extremely short as well: as another reviewer said before me, it takes some 2 hours (or even less) to complete.

I'd say you better save your money with this one, even if you are a hardcore FPS player. If you are looking for a good and cheap shooter, you will have plenty of more fun with "You Are Empty" or "The Stalin Subway".

Hi,

Very good (FPS). Has configurable keys like, jump, crouch, run, glasses. Weapons like, pistols, shotgun, machinegun. Has, robotic enemies + soldiers. Real world lighting show environment is fantastic, a real winner. Excellent graphics. Has NPC speeches + sound effects (rain, thunder) + more.

first person shooter (FPS),

Crazy fun... but short!

By Vyranthas posted 28th January 2012

I really enjoyed making my way through this game. The shooting mechanics weren't the greatest, but the game looked great and had a cool, fun vibe to it. Unfortunately, it was very short. I believe it only took me about 2 hours to finish - maybe even less. If it had been longer, I would have given it a higher score.

This game is clearly based on John Carpenter's "They Live" and although you won't be spouting one-liners or suplexing people onto cars, you will beat them to death with mufflers while sporting shades.

The graphics are serviceable, almost pretty in places and it runs just fine on Win7 x64. Enemies heads 'pop' with visceral satisfaction while the animation and physics serve their purpose. The brawling action is simple and easy, offering almost no challenge to the FPS fan but the shooter aspect can be hard in places.

The game doesn't really play up the story arc much, it's just a progression of linear levels. The sunglasses are merely an associative gimmick; there are two areas you need them to progress, otherwise they are useless. The whole game will take a few hours to beat but that seemed about right. I enjoyed my stay but was happy to leave.
