This expansion ads a lot to Tropico 3. Some of the buildings are not very fun, useful or exciting, BUT, overall, they increase the Tropico experience. The biggest additions are the new edicts and political situations.

This expansion pack adds some mission, buildings and other things for Tropico 3 and it's worth it if you want more Tropico 3. The missions given here are pretty good too IMO.

But for the value if you don't own Tropico 3, just buy the Tropico Trilogy or Tropico 3 Gold Edition, which both are available on GG too.

I played this very soon after the vanilla version, and it didn't seem to add enough new features. It adds some cool things to industry, but otherwise it seemed to add overly difficult maps. Would have liked to see improved customization and new events, but there didn't seem to be much of that.

The improvements they made to roads and the 'megalomania edicts' were a nice touch, but it didn't add anything that had me play for more than 6 hours. Not because I saw everything in that short time, but because there wasn't enough that felt new to suck me in.

Tropico 3 Absolute power is perhaps what the original was meant to be, featuring many new scenarios and fixes to the gameplay. Also adding new buildings and things to the game, making it devour even more of your playtime. But, as with the original, it is all worthwhile, in the quest to become the dictator you always wanted to be.

I have been a fan of the Tropico series for quite some time and the 3rd installment continues that trend. The graphics get more beautiful every time and the game play has maintained a consistent, yet complex, feel. Many of the best aspects of this game are the smaller changes such as added factions, new edict options and - what seems to be - a slightly more realistic foreign relations module. Overall, if you're a fan of the earlier versions, you'll also love this!

I bought this expansion pack when it was available for a couple of dollars on a sale. For what I paid, it was worth the money; on the flip side, it didn't actually add all that much to the game. A few new buildings and slight varied missions. That said, Tropico 3 felt short enough; so having a bit longer play was nice.

This expansion is something to pick up on a sale.

This expansion has a new set of Missions which are quite good. Kampagne missions are for me heart of Tropico games. Besides of new missions there are some new fancy buildings, no realy big changes. But T4 has not much more to offer for full priced sequell, so Absolute Power is a good deal.

The expansion of Tropico 3. It's a very nice expansion. It adds some new buildings and options. But the main advantage is that there is a whole new campaign full with wacky but fun missions.

Also it corrects two points that I really disliked in Tropico 3. It makes the garages a lot smaller, still parking lots would have been better in my opinion. And there are dirt roads for outside the city. Which look for more realistic for banana republic.

If you like Tropico 3 you can't go wrong with this one.

If you enjoyed Tropico 3 then your'll definitely enjoy Absolute power. The Scenarios are a more on the Strange/fantasy side with less emphasis on realism.

This game is really fun. The expansion adds some new edicts and buildings to the original. A DJ named Juanito that talks in between with some fun comments. After a while though he can get a bit annoying. Thankfully the edict "Shoot Juanito" has been added.

But that bitch Betty Boom really drives me nuts. She is the spokesperson for the rebels and she always complains. She can not be killed which is a bit sad.

Absolute Power is a welcome addition to the original game. The new campaign is great, but the new dicisions and buildings really round things up.

If you want to play a roleplay kind of game as a socialist (without a single church) or fascist or whatever you want I find Tropico 3 + Absolute Power even better than Tropico 4.

Tropico is FUN! TROPICO ABSOLUTE POWER is more. Every hour you spend on this game is just a "good moment". It is not stressfull, and i often catch myself re-installing it, since the replay possibilities are very good. This expension adds tons of flavor,a very interesting campaign, and more ABSOLUTE POWER feeling. Isn't it the reason why we play tropico?

I think that this expansion pack is another great time waster on the isle of Tropico. 10 new missions and more buildings, edicts and a new radio station awaits. The only problem is that the new features affect the old campaign for the original, which can change the whole experience of each mission. When I tried, the online feature which worked well in the original did not work in the expansion. Whether that was due to a bug or whether I tried at a wrong time I don't know.

This expansion is the only expansion for the Tropico 3. But, it is very good. New feature, new campaign, new "Megalomania Edicts", and a new DJ!!

An absolute MUST if you own or show interest in the original game. This game is ridiculously beautiful and detailed, a must play for any strategy or city-builder fans. Pick the game and this expansion up now while it's on sale for $2.50!

Expansion is great. If you're someone like me, who found all the base campaigns to be too easy this expansion is for you! The new campaigns are varied and are quite difficult. The new buildings are especially nice to use, because they can help with your economy depending on the island.

Buy this expansion, it is definitely worth it. Nothing negative to say, because the added content is truly worth it.

Great expansion pack !

A much needed expansion, providing more control over the citizenry and the overall direction your island takes. The new buildings and features provide a new level of atmosphere, that can border on rather creepy when your military police start cracking heads and the ungrateful populace begins to resent their savior, el Presidente.

In brief, if you enjoyed Tropico 3, you'll enjoy it even more with this expansion pack. It simply provides more and better for El Presidente. The expansion is really worth it for the new buildings and edicts: there is a new campaign as well, and perhaps some other changes that slip my mind at the moment, but truly the buildings and edicts are where it's at. I subtract one star simply because it costs the same (or did, when I purchased it; it's possible that by the time this review is read it could have decreased) as the base game without adding as much as the base game itself added.

Perfect addition for a perfect game - you must install it ;) It widens the range of your possibilities and makes the game even better.

Wow, where to begin with this game...

I purchased this and the base game as part of a deal hear on Gamersgate. I have never played the base game with out Absolute Power. So be warned.

However, I think I can speak to some of the things the expansion brings, and why your tropico 3 experience will not be complete without it.

First of all, Absolute Power introduces a fun faction: The Loyalists. Too often it gets too easy to be caught up being a pleasing, kindly dictator that caters to his citizens whims while denying his own indulgences and darker side. However, there is now a faction begging you to do exactly that! They want you to brainwash people, build museums to yourself, suspend elections, praise yourself, etc. It's a nice wrinkle, be too modest and ideal and you'll lose the affections of a group that can be fairly sizable. It's another balancing act.

Second, the new buildings give you some nice tools for reaching out to factions that are giving you trouble. If the environmentalists won't stop whining you can get some wind turbines going and make your island a haven for green energy. You can also build garbage dumps to deal with the trash. Further, your religious faction can be quite happy if you build a Cristo Redentor statue on your island. Your capitalists will love your turning the island into a tourism Mecca with your new Marina. And best of all, you can simply outlaw a faction if they are unwilling to be reasonable.

There are several cosmetic changes as well, such as the dirt roads, and Juanito's constant love is balanced somewhat by Betty Boom's unwanted criticism. Still, soundtrack remains a weak spot with a limited selection of tunes.

Bottom line: This expansion won't change the game itself, but rather it increase your options and your fun! It really adds value to a great base game.

This is a solid expansion for a great game. It fleshes out the island you own even more. The new buildings not only add to gameplay, but make for a nice diversity of buildings to make any urban areas feel more fleshed out. While I don't call this expansion a real core "game changer", its worht having and increases the fun all the way around!

If you have tropico 3, you need to buy this one as well.

It only adds to the fun.

No ruthless dictator with respect for them selves can live with out a golden, rotating, 3 stories statue of them selves in the middle of the city square.

For those who call this game too easy, just tighten up the game settings. It does get harder when you get off the default difficulty settings.

Plus, I just like building the balloon ride and the ferris wheel. I like carnival.

If you liked Tropico 3 but still want more, this is a given buy!

Pros: More factions, more complexity, somewhat harder missions, more humor, more buildings and in general a bundle more fun and a couple of weeks worth of gaming.

Cons: The economical part is still too easy but this is countered in some missions. It is still too easy to keep all factions happy. A sound bug that pops up now and then and small graphical bugs, but nothing that impairs the game.

Conclusion: This expansion is only worth buying if you enjoyed Tropico 3. It is the same thing but much more. You can spend hours trying to build the most efficient infrastructure, or subduing the population. Total power scores 8/10 points. It would have been higher if they implemented a more complex political system and more of that sweet soundtrack!

Definetly a great expansion to an already fantastic game. The new 'Loyalist' faction adds a new group of Tropicans to please, the fact that they are 'loyalists' make the interactions all the more interesting. The Megolamania edicts really allow you to bring out your inner Tropican Dictator, and the new landmarks and buildings allow greater customization and beautification for anyone who likes to design a beautiful island. Heartily recommended, one can only hope that this is the first of many quality expansions to a fantastic game.

A great addition to Tropico 3. The loyalist faction and megalomania edict and score are a great addition. You feel more like a dictator when you build a giant golden statue of yourself. The new campaign missions are better then the original. Im not spoiling anything but you will be suprised by some missions. I also love the new balloon ride which gives you 3 balloons flying over your island.

If you like Tropico you will like this expansion.

Absolute Power sees Kalypso finally move onward from the original Tropico, and what a bound it is. This is an expansion in both senses of the word; we get a new faction, new buildings, a new set of edicts and just more of everything in general, but in addition some new twists on the mechanics.

The factions are given a little more depth, with several new edicts and buildings designed to help you manipulate the factions. Letting a faction get too unhappy with your regime can now trigger specific disasters (annoy the militarists for example and they may well encourage a military coup). The new faction, the Loyalists, are staunch supporters of El Presidente and contribute to your final score (in the new section Megalomania).

There's some new political options for dealing with the superpowers too; you can set yourself up in the arms industry or even sponsor a nuclear program to stop the US and USSR from ever interfering with your island again ... if you can finish the ICBM before they bomb you into the ground.

They've also overhauled the interface and the Almanac to increase the amount of information given to make it a little more clear why your plans are working, or going wrong.

There's a few nice cosmetic touches too. Roads now begin as dirt roads, and become town roads only once they reach a sufficient level of traffic. There's now an intro to the game, and a cutscene when you finish (though it's not quite at the level of the original Tropico). A new DJ, Juanita, is also added.

In fact, that's the only time there's any issue with this expansion - all of the new content provokes a comment by Juanita rather than the original commentator. It would have been nice if they'd have recorded some new dialogue (I didn't notice any new tracks added to the admittedly excellent original soundtrack either) but this is a minor nitpick.

If you enjoyed the original Tropico 3 there's plenty of new content to bring you back. If you didn't there have been some tweaks and overhauls which might make you take another look. Some of the original criticisms are still valid; the economy is still a little too easy, but there's sufficient depth and toys added at other levels to make up for it.
