Large-scale battles have become a vestige of the past, depleting resources of conflicting parties. Events in the Universe and its habitant’s destiny are completely up to player’s choice and tactical decisions. Star Wolves 3: Civil War is a sequel to the popular real time strategy with RPG elements. Original large-scale scenario, closely tied with the first part of intergalactic epic helps the player influence the ongoing events and foreordain one of many endings. Free roam, free mission selection, free team forming – the world of Star Wolves waits for its heroes.

  • Huge world: 110 highly detailed star systems in different parts of the Galaxy.
  • Non-linear story: several endings and additional quests create a complete game universe.

Not an amazing game, both unit controls and interface need some work, though that's unlikely to ever happen. The gameplay is fun enough but nothing revolutionary.

An enjoyable game in the series, very similar to SW 1 style and game play. The story just keeps on twisting after each mission to add more plot and new missions. I like that different decisions can actually mean different outcomes in the game. If you enjoyed SW1, you will enjoy this one for sure.

Unlike SW2 this game doesn't crash every three minutes which is a relief. I liked this game and is the best in the series. I avoided the terrible voice overs this time by blasting DJ Qbert every time I played which many game designers should just do and save us the trouble. My neighbors hated this game however but they have since moved away.

In Russia this was called Star Wolves 2: Civil War and that more accurately reflects what it is: an expansion of the second game with the uneasy tensions between the factions in that game giving way to open conflict. Naturally that makes for a lot of lucrative work and a choice to really back one side over another once and for all, for your team. Gameplay is mostly the same as in SW2, it's more of an campaign mission addon. Not that that's a bad thing as the game is great. Bugs as always and a return to a slightly wonky difficulty are a constant in this series though.

I think that star wolves 3 is definately the best in the series. The combat is awesome, the campaign is fun and I could replay it and make different decisions. I havent found any bugs yet and ive been playing for about 6 hours. I hope they make a 4th.

Purchased this with huge doubts. Loved the first one, the second one had more bugs than Klendathu, and more crashes to desktop than I have ever seen. Pleased to say that that is not the case here, and the spirit of the original is back. Been stable so far, but my hand is still poised over the quick save button every time I jump following my scars from the first sequel. Plot very short if you prefer route 1, and the lack of ability to "sandbox" after completion drags down the re-playability. Those points aside, the voice acting is still lovingly atrocious and the RPG elements excellent - I really don't want to lose a pilot! Return to form I personally feel - if you liked the first one, you'll like this. Just erase the second one from your mind.

As the third game in the series I expected a lot from this game but where the others had failed to keep me interested so did this instalment. A lot of people seemed to be fans of this series but it just isn't for me.

I love Starwolves 1 and was - like most others - very disappointed about Starwolves 2. Starwolves 2 wasn't playable, with the only fanpatch available it became playable but the mothership in this fanpatch was much too strong so playing didn't make much fun as well.

The reviews I read about starwolves 3 were mostly quite bad, only a very few of them recommended the game. I definitely recommend it! I just played a few hours so far and had no issues concerning bugs. I don't consider it as extremely difficult as mentioned in many reviews but it is definitely challenging - if you can't do something for the moment, hunt some pirates, get experiences points and credit and come back later when you are better.

If you like the first part, you will like the third part as well. Play the first part before playing the third one (the second one is not necessary) to have a much better understanding of the story and the characters, so you will have more fun with your game

It is slow, buggy, hard in an annoying way and its alot of reading. "Huge block of text, badly transelated in to english hit you for 120 hitpoints" kind of reading.

Could have been so great if it had been done right.

I wish some one had done a similar type of game, i have not found one yet.

Once again showing that 1C games are the equvilant to wares you might expect to find in a "Every thing is 1 euro" store.

Well, third in the Star Wolves series. games keep getting more and more polished but it is still not there.

For a homeworld successor attempt cum RPG the game has always been interesting.

Set in a far future, in the opening moves of an on and off civil war you are an out of luck trader, after loosing a cargo shipment, and your company (due to contractual details) you return to the black in order to find out what happened.

The good, the game is fun, you get an interesting cast, though interactions,as always, seem rather limited. Space combat is done beautifully, the model doesn't seem to be Newtonian but tries to be rather close, at least as far as fighters are concerned, capitals on the other hand...

For the first time you go through multiple motherships, which is a nice change of pace, but can't really choose them.

The bad, the game lacks polish, gone are the random missions of its predecesor that made equipping and grinding at least more interesting and fit more the space mercenary thing this game has (main char insist being a trader and is a member of the FTU but... practically no goods in game, so no trading here) the universe is large but empty, yes there are people coming and going but you can't really interact and landing on other than trade stations or patrol bases is not possible, unless it is quest related.

Finally unlike SW2 the mothership has no crew and no skills, there are firmware upgrades but that's about it and they are waa~aay too focused for my taste.

Honestly? this game needed a few moths more of development and a few more features. Not sure if I'll risk trying the next one, if it is made, to see if the polish is finally there, will probably let other people try it first I think.

In general, good. Controlling ships with your mouse is burdensome. They should have arranged easier hotkeys for switching in between various time compression settings. The opening chain of missions are TOO long, and always in the form of "we have to get the hell outta here fast or else", and wont allow you to take a breather to understand what's going on, enjoy the game and progress. You have to do what the game tells you to do or you die and game ends. So, it will be a long time before you are let to decide what are you going to do next and that will be when the initial stampede of missions that chain force you to go through them are over. Also you will end up with a pirate mothership, which will disturb you a bit in that you will have progressed fast without actually going level by level to that point. In general a light space sim, with low reality (scales of distances and placements of stations, points of interest are too small, its like playing a rts). Enjoyable for a time.

Not the best game, interface needs a lot of work and units seem to not respond to your orders until you issue them 3-5 times. I am having mouse problems and various other little issues, it also appears this game has been abandoned by the developer on release. I am on Win7 by the way.

This is a very good sequel to space rangers2. With far less bug so it makes the game very enjoyable.

No more alien or IA threat in Space Rangers3. Now the new ennemy call themselves " the Grey", in time of civil war better the New and the Old Empires. I wont tell anything about them ;) but the story is interesting, thou the whole main quest is really too short for me.

Its a sandbow game, you can explore all starsystems, the plot line will allow multiple ending depending on your choices. You will have different compagnons also depending on those choices, and different motherships. And enough ships and weapons to buy to have fun with your "mercs".

The only downside : the main quest is too short for me, in a week-end you can finish the game. Its too bad because the universe is huge and the main plot is not really made to make you explore it. Also you cant play the game on freemode when you finish it.
