Supreme Commander Forged Alliance

Rating: 4.6 (245 votes cast)

The last days of man are at hand. Two years after the Infinite War the once great warring nations now lie in ruins, and humanity’s hope for a brighter future is nothing but a bitter memory. A new, seemingly unstoppable enemy, supported by the zealots of The Order, now seeks to eradicate mankind; UEF, Aeon Loyalist, and Cybran alike. With their backs against the wall and staring into the abyss, the tattered remnants of Humanity’s forces must put aside old hatreds and band together as they prepare to make one last desperate stand. One last chance. An alliance forged in blood, steel and hope, they turn to face the dark.

  • New Playable Faction: A completely new playable faction will be available in multiplayer games and serve as the main threat during the new single-player campaign. This new threat is a cunning and devious race with advanced technology and are true masters of quantum technology. New weapons, new strategies, new conquests!

An awesome sequel to the Total Annihilation series, a really unique RTS game with thousands of units to command and great control and layout.

One of the best Massive Real Time Strategy games i have ever played. Almost all playstyles present, from zerging them with small units and crushing them with giant units to turteling up in your base and using nukes/artillery. Quite balanced as well between the 3 orginal factions but the seraphim drop out of the loop a bit.

Similar to the original Supreme Commander, the campaign isn't too good once again but the faction did evolve well with much more units. It's a much better game then Supreme Commander 2 to say the least.

SC:FA is a really nice upgrade from the base game, is an amazing standalone, with massive battles and great content, a must buy.

If you liked the first one, you absolutely must get this as it only adds more to an already awesome game. A new faction plus new units for the existing ones, new maps, a new campaign, and new gameplay balances make this a necessary expansion to have if you liked Supreme Commander.

There are many RTS games out there. Starcraft 2, Dawn of War series, Company of Heroes, and Command&Conquer series to just name a few. "Why should I get this?", you might ask. Well, if you prefer a RTS game that focuses on micro/tactics rather than macro/strategy, then this game isn't for you. But, if you like the idea of commanding hundreds of units on a HUGE map, you will definitely love this.

Beware: this game has a pretty big learning curve. Not only are there tons of units and buildings to get yourselves familiarised with, but this game's economy is quite unique and a bit difficult to manage until you get a hang of it.

Conclusion:

Story: N/A (I haven't played the campaign yet and I probably never will.)

Gameplay: 5/5 (Hundreds of units on huge maps. Every unit can be countered, even nukes!)

Graphics: 4/5 (It's not as pretty as, say, Dawn of War 2 or Starcraft 2, but it still looks pretty good in 2011.)

Audio: 3/5 (Great music, but sounds of explosions and gunfire aren't particularly great. They aren't bad though.)

System Requirement: You'll need a powerful PC if you want to play on the largest maps with max pop cap.

I have tested a lot of strategy games, but noen is as good as this one.

If you have two monitors this game will make full use of both of them.

I have played this game many many many times and I never grow tired of it strangely.

If you are planning to buy just one strategy game this year, put your money on this game.

This is a awesome game but it has more of a niche market. This is due to its unique gameplay mechanics and economy. The gameplay mechanics all of the weapons trajectorys are calculated allowing the chance for every shot to miss. As for the economics it is more unique as its not a pay upfront model but a fluid model that every building unit takes so much mass and energy per second to build things. Even with these unique elements it is a awesome game for LAN parties and online.

Forged Alliance along with Supreme Commander is the spiritual successor to Total Annihilation bringing the graphics up to date while keeping the same classic gameplay. Resonably simple to grasp although mid game micromanagement can be a headache. Spectacular graphics, good sound and the ever welcome skirmish and online play make Forged Alliance a wise purchase for all Strategy fans.

A great game, alothough I never play the first I don't think you need to to see that this is a great game, with MASSIVE units and battles this game really takes the cake.
