Still Life 2

Rating: 4.2 (52 votes cast)

Who is hiding behind Mr. X? Still Life 2 reveals the long-awaited ending of Still Life and spells a new investigation for Agent Victoria McPherson.

In Fall 2008, Victoria is sent to Maine where Ellen Dunnigan's body has just been found. The modus operandi and the video sent to the police and press leave them in no doubt as to the killer's identity: the East Coast Torturer has struck again! No clues are picked up during the autopsy, as the serial killer painstakingly washed the body. Once again, the killer has not committed any errors.

From her motel room, Victoria comes across a report by Paloma Hernandez, the journalist covering all the crimes bearing the East Coast Torturer's signature. Hernandez has been highly critical of the FBI's and Victoria's lack of progress. That does not stop Hernandez from phoning and asking Victoria to meet her later that evening. Hernandez claims to have some so-called clues on the killer in her possession. Victoria flatly refuses. Just moments later, Paloma is kidnapped by the Torturer…

Still Life 2 remains true to the spirit of its first installment and continues to allow to play and manage two characters bound by the same fate. This time, the aim is to control two heroines, see the game from two complementary viewpoints and experience two different gameplays. Depending on whetheryou are playing Paloma Hernandez, the victim being hunted by the killer or Victoria McPherson, the FBI agent tracking him down, you can alternate between survival and investigation.

Still Life 2 review

Very good sequel to Still Life, which, as others mentioned, answered questions left dangling in the first game. It has a very gloomy, chilling atmosphere continuing the theme of a highly organized and seriously deranged serial killer who has set up shop in a decrepit, abandoned house.

There are lots of turns and twists to the plot, though near the end, I thought it got a bit crazy with the need to put in just one more plot twist. There are lots of timed sequences near the end in which you can die, so sometimes I worked it out, and sometimes I threw in the towel for the walkthrough. I liked the Victoria McPherson character, and hope she shows her face again.

Great game I won't lie tho i had to use a Walk through for some aspects of the game because there was no clues for some of the questions and also what to carry in my infantry because you have limited space unlike the first one. The story was fantastic I was on the edge of my seat until it finished!

Still Life 2 is a good game. If you haven't played any of the Still Life series, pick up the first game and give it a try. You won't be disappointed in either game. Definitely worth playing.

This sequel features Victoria McPherson from the first game as one of the leads. It has connections to the first game and you find out for certain who the killer was in that game, but it is by and large an entirely new case.

Also, the game sees you control Victoria as she investigates a house, and also a reporter who has been kidnapped by a masked killer. He holds her in a house and when you play as the reporter, you havbe to survive games that wouldn't look out of place in Saw, while being filmed. As Victoria, you do the investigation.

The game itself is a pretty decent yarn but some players may not like the subject matter and the polish is not as good as the first game at all. However, for me, I play adventure games for the story (a large part of the reason anyway and humor also helps if it's a comedy game). It may not have the humor of some games due to the serious material but the story does take twists and turns.

Just don't expect it to be as good as the first.

Still Life 2 is a great game- chilling atmosphere, intricate plot (weaves in and out, but keeps the player's attention), great character interactions and little, mildly difficult, puzzles. The voice acting is so-so, but doesn't detract from the game as a whole. The game also features alot of back tracking on the player's part, as inventory space has to be managed carefully, and storage boxes are not universal. It's a great game- a good example of the point-and-click adventure genre spliced with a dark thriller. Definitely a good buy.

Great sequel to the first 'Still Life' game that thankfully answers a lot of questions that were left unanswered last time. In addition, we now have a 'Saw'-esque style thriller (if you've seen the movies) which is gripping to the end. If nothing else, this game has a fantastic menacing atmosphere about it which will make gamers pump through the game fairly quickly, leaving a satisfying feeling afterward. If you are squeamish, then this game is not for you, but for fans of dark thrillers, buy this game now! 18+ only
