S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat (Loyalty Edition) review

This is a stand alone game. I enjoyed this game as well as the others. Lots of mutants to shoot at. You can heal NPC (non player characters) and make them your friend. Before you take out any of your friends or foes, make sure you get all the info out of them before doing so, especially the first couple of guys you meet. Trade with their boss first too can give you some more money, if you decide to take them out after you do. You can retrieve all that stuff you just traded anyway.

Sometimes you may find yourself repeating your missions, when you find

stuff along the way, you thought you could have used earlier. There are some good walkthroughs

out there if you want the spoilers. For example, gamepressure, ( http://guides.gamepressure.com/stalkercallofpripyat/) has some maps that can show you where the good stuff are. There are plenty of emissions in this game, and if you find yourself getting

caught in one, they bring instant death if you don’t make it to the safe spot. After those emissions you can venture out from

your safe spot and search for re-spawned artifacts (best money maker). This game has 3 lifelike maps, a lot time went in making from the actual sites. If you are new to stalker, then play the novice mode until you catch on, at anytime during the game you can change the degree of difficulty in your options menu. If you played any of the first two games, you will also like this game.

The best game of an awesome and cult trilogy. If you must choose only one, it'll be call of prypiat, if you don't have time to play a lot, play this one ! You won't be desapointed...

Stalker has always been a series renowned for its great atmosphere, and CoP is no different. It's a great improvement from SoC and CS, and easily the best title in the series. Loyalty Edition is also a good way to reward fans of the series. Notice: Tages is not a particularly friendly DRM.

STALKER: Call of Pripyat was one the few fps games I played on PC (not counting other games that enable you to play in 3rd person view). STALKER:COP was a game that blew my mind away when it came to one thing: atmosphere, it will give players a chill on their spine when they play through certain areas, be it the Jupiter Plant, the underground lab, or even the entire area of Pripyat. The game plays like some other first-person shooters, but with out a weapon limit (instead it uses a weight limit on players). It does have the mechanics of a roleplaying game when interacting with npc's, trading items at a shop, and even having multiple endings. The music is rather nice, as it played some of the best music this troper has listened to. If you're a person that plays computer games and is also a gamer that likes to fps games and/or games that have an atmosphere, than this may be the game you're looking for.

Considering this game requires either STALKER SoC or CS, I'd say: stop thinking about which to get and buy the whole pack!

If you've played either STALKER, you'll love this one. My concern though was about the price: is what I'm paying too much for what I'll get? No, it's just right. I played the first two STALKERs til the very end, and Call of Pripyat was refreshing in its own way.

Either way, there's mods that add anything and everything. One thing we could regret though is that, as far as I know, the three games aren't backwards-compatible. That means you need to launch each game to play them instead of a single one. There might be a way to achieve that with a mod though.

One of my all time favorite games. The atmosphere, music, gameplay, customization, storyline... it's all top class. Even roaming around randomly is immensely fun. You can customize your weapons or armour, of which there are a wide range of different guns and suits available. You can loot to your heart's content, stocking up on ammo and food so you feel very much like you are living off the world. And when you want a break from free roaming you can leap back into the storyline, sneaking through nests of dangerous monsters, hunting for artifacts in the awesome surrounding landscape, with your play every so often interupted by the deadly emissions, with the need to find cover in the sparse wasteland being very much exhilarating.

The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series continues to move forward. CoP provides all the things to expect from a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game while improving gameplay, interface, and to some degree, character development. Pripyat definitely creates the feeling that the zone is changing, and sets up a lot of story opportunities for the future (i.e. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2). I also believe it has the greatest replay value/continuing play value thanks to updated mobs, emission and anomaly system. While the faction wars of Clear Sky are no longer present, you may still join with various factions. The achievement system is also interesting because achievements give you bonuses (and possibly penalties) and are based on decisions you make, more than just advancing the game. All good things to look forward to.

The best in the series! I finished Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky was kinda meh (ive never seen enemy AI snipe you with grenades - probably a mutation from the radiation) - but Call of Pripyat was awesome. They smoothed out the kinks, and made the gameplay much more immersive and atmospheric. Play this, watch the Tarkovskiy STALKER movie, and then read the short story Roadside Picnic (in whatever order). It will give you second thoughts about voting for nuclear power. whoa.

Pretty good game. I wasn't able to complete all of the quests that I had started, but that isn't necessary to do. I like to shoot characters that resemble people (that sounds bad, but I prefer to do that than monsters) and this game has a lot of action in a great environmment. I didn't have any problems with bugs and was able to spend many enjoyable hours shooting different factions members and loved several of the weapons in the game. The big gun later in the game was a bit of a let down, since it wasn't as useful (and it was heavy) as I would have liked. I really recommend getting a trainer to remove the backpack weight limit. For me, removing this limit aloows the player to carry many awesome weapons and artifacts. The game can be tedious at times, but there is almost always something (or someone!!!) to kill.

I played SoC and CS and I have to say, this game is my favourite one from the Stalker series, at least gameplay wise.

The combat is fluent, you don't die every five seconds as in CS. You don't have to walk so much as in SoC and you can always use a guide to quickly go to another area.

Story wise it's alright but not as interesting as in SoC.

Overall I'd say if you liked SoC you'll like CoP as well.

Great stuff! Call of Pripyat runs on the best iteration of the X-Ray engine yet; it's actually entirely playable without copious tweaking. The game is brutal and at times beautiful, with an atmosphere closer to Shadow of Chernobyl than Clear Sky. I would recommend playing a patched and tweaked Shadow of Chernobyl first, then skipping Clear Sky and going straight for Call of Propyat if you enjoyed the original.

You are looking at Call of Pripyat - Loyalty Edition because you already own and have played one or both of its predecessors, Shadow of Chernobyl and Clear Sky. As such, you know just how awesome the atmosphere and gameplay of this series is.

Now, add to this a further modernized engine (and if you want to, you can even further upgrade the graphics and audio using community-made modifications, just like you could in Shadow of Chernobyl and Clear Sky), a completely different area of the Zone to explore, new or improved gameplay features all across the board, and an even greater immersion factor and you've got the recipe for a truly great game.

Did it work?

Hell yes.

The only good reasons not to buy Call of Pripyat if you've already played and liked its predecessors are a very dating computer or an empty wallet.

The last installment of the STALKER saga has improved a lot. Clear Sky was a good game, but sort of buggy and lacking the innovation of shadow of chernobil. Call of pripyat, on the other hand, is a well polished game. there are only a few bugs and the graphics have slightly improved. The best point about the game, in my opinion, is that the original atmosphere of the original game is there. The last remark goes to the considration of the publishers when offering a reduced price edition to those "loyal" customers who have bought another of the two previous games.

The unique and sinister atmosphere of STALKER is back. Welcome in inferno.

Well-crafted environments and astounding sound design are the pillars for this new adventure in what is now a well-know playground: the Zone. Still most of the action is taking place in a new area Prypiat where you will strive to destroy armies of mutants.

This is the most successfully completed STALKER and an all-rounder.
