This game is, like virtually all grand strategy games set in the modern day highly disapointing. One thing that is common in Paradox developed games is that you can easily reload as another nation this game having been published but not developed by Paradox does not include that very valuable feature. Another thing that is important (at least to me) in making a grand strategy game fun is being able to change ones government type but foolishy you cannot. This expansion does offer many improvements to the original game so if you enjoyed the original game then this is for you. If you REALLY need to play a grand strategy game set in the modern day this is the best one out there right now. This studio is very good in supporting their game and the improvements offered in the Gold edition are available for free for those who purchased this. It is not a very good game but it can still kill a couple of hours.

This expansion to Supreme Ruller 2020 really adds a lot of new scenarios, units, and features, and makes the game what it was meant to be from the beginning. If you do not have the original game yet, please get Supreme Ruller 2020 Gold. You really want this expansion.

This is the Strategy Gamers dream come true and it is modifiable too. Support is excellent the developers are on the forum every day with useful information and individual guidance. The game does lack in the eye candy but the substance of the game, the use of modern combat vehicles and tactics on an operational or Battalion scale is very good. If you feel a particular weapons system is not represented well you can change the attack strengths, range and many other factors related to it in Excel. I cannot recommend the title high enough in its category.

Terribly boring title. I unfortunately bought both, 2020 and the expansion pack. About the only thing enjoyable in this title was listening to the sound of gunfire and wishing that a stray bullet would hit me in the head and put me out of my misery playing this title. The game completely lacks any visual style, eye candy affecianados beware, there is NONE! However in all fairness, the visual quality of 2020 is better than that of 2010, but it's still looks like someone threw it into the ugly forest and it got beat on by every tree in there. I can not in good conscience suggest this game to the average war gamer. It would likely appeal to people that still enjoy Hex based war games, but if you need a little eye candy to keep you going, don't bother with this one. I was looking for something deep, and on the surface this title looks very very deep, however once you really open it up and take it for a spin, you realize that there is a great deal of detail in this game that do nothing towards actually playing it and would appear to be nothing more than braniac candy, numbers to crunch, something thrown in to give it the look of being a very deep title. For lack of anything else to say about it, I can only say that it's got to be the most boring title I've ever played and for the record, Im not a fan of games such as C&C. It's unfortunate, but the game is truly a snooze fest with little else to do but move some icons around the screen while *taking* over other landmasses. The AI? What AI? It does seriously silly maneuvers that make no sence in the real world which this game would appear it wanted to try to replicate with all the settings that are possible, however in my opinion, it fails misreably (like my spelling)

Any military/strategy buff who doesn't own Supreme Ruler 2020 should download it immediately. I own well over 100 titles in the genre, and can't think of many games you can buy for $20 that will keep you busy for the rest of your life... If you own and love SR2020, you're going to get this Expansion as well, unless you are on a very tight budget. Until a game editor is released, it will keep you busy with new scenarios and key improvements like AI naval invasions. But the best reason to buy it is to continue to support Battlegoat Studios. Similar to AGEOD, they continue to support their products with patches, and their forum is a great resource. Jaded as I am, the original Supreme Ruler 2010 blew me away when I discovered it about a year ago. What a diamond in the rough! Graphics aren't up to speed but it's got a great game editor, and is still available. 2020 and GC are moddable, but for now it's a pretty intense process. This series is truly unique among wargames. The level of depth and real world data is just incredible if you appreciate that sort of thing. However, if you like brain-dead, simplistic games like Command & Conquer, then stay away. The SR series is real time pausable. (I just don't get the appeal of C&C style lasso the "cannon fodder" units and rush the enemy's base.) The SR2020 Series is a true wargamer's dream and also playable by the less-than-hardcore as well.
