Rating: 4.6 (82 votes cast)

It’s time to usher the past into the future in this enhanced recreation of Sonic CD!

Sonic travels to the distant shores of Never Lake for the once-a-year appearance of Little Planet - a mysterious world where past, present, and future collide through the power of the Time Stones that lie hidden within it.

Sonic arrives only to find the once beautiful world imprisoned beneath a twisted metallic shell. His arch-nemesis, Dr. Eggman, has come for the Time Stones and with them, will soon have the power to control time itself!

In order to put an end to Dr. Eggman’s nefarious schemes, Sonic must use the power of Little Planet to travel through time; breaking Dr. Eggman’s hold over the future by destroying his machines in the past and recovering the missing Time Stones!

Featuring 16:9 widescreen, achievements, leaderboards and both the US and Japanese soundtracks, experience the adventure through time that introduced the world to Amy the Hedgehog and Eggman’s most evil creation, Metal Sonic.

Sonic CD review

This is a great 2d Sonic platformer. Most of the level design is really good, though a couple are really bad and the 3d special stages can be really annoying. There are 4 versions of each stage, past, present, good future and bad future, and this ads some interesting verity to the game. It has both the US and the Japanese soundtracks and you can switch back and forth between them from the main menu. Over all this is a good solid sonic game with good controls, good music, and fast gameplay.

If you are wondering whether to buy this game or not then you should stop.

Just hit that damn button! This is a classic gem and you deserve to play it. Lovely graphics, nostalgic sounds and awesome gameplay await you here.

But don't take my word for it, just buy the damn game!

A fantastic game that should be played more like Metroid than Sonic the Hedgehog. Those looking for what Sonic became after the Genesis/Mega Drive era will be disappointed for sure (as will some classic Sonic fans, too, no doubt). But Sonic CD gives us something totally unique and completely original.

What can I say about this game that hasn't been said over a decade ago?

To be honest, I was expecting a ton of problems with this game, from dealing with things like the original PC version's dependencies or the emulated version's slowdown issues...

But this is silky smooth, fast and fairly reliable. The only thing that made me mark it down? It can sometimes be TOO fast if your computer doesn't naturally use Vsync.

If you don't own it, and you bought Sonic Generations for the nostalgia kick, GET IT NOW!

Awesone remake

It's a brilliant remake with a new engine.

The classic gameplay is an incentive to play this game where the player can travel in the past, present or future, modelling the levels to obtain a good or bad finale.

This remake implements Steam achievements and leaderboards, too.

Very cool game.

Sonic CD review

Sonic CD was one of the best first party games released on the Sega CD, and the game remains one of the best in the series to date.

This game delivers the classic Sonic experience while introducing new characters, a neat time-travel gimmick that added some depth to the 2-D platformer and some of the best level design that the series hasn't seen the likes of since.

Sonic CD comes with optional video filters that allow for a classic pixelated look or a more modern, sharpened image and the ability to unlock Miles "Tails" Prower after completing the game once.

Sonic CD manages to feel fresh even after over a decade. The intricate level design and "good" and "bad" endings will have you spending more time thinking your way through levels rather than just racing to each zone's goal.

I encourage everyone to download this game not just for the sake of nostalgia, but to experience a truly wonderful game.
