Sonic Adventure™ 2 review

Best Sonic-game I played so far. Especially the levels in which you play as Sonic or Shadow. Their Stages are very fast and you rush from start to end in high speed. You jump on enemys to defeat them or to reach new paths. Very often there are several ways to reach the goal-ring.

In the next part of the game you play as Tails or Dr. Eggman, who walk around in their mechs and shoot enemys down, sometimes you also do some classic plattform jumping, while you have to solve little puzzles, in order to reach the exit.

The last part of the game belongs to Knuckles and Rouge. In their stages you have to search for 3 pieces of emeralds, to proceed. This stages are often very big, so it can be easy to get a little lost in them.

From time to time you also have to fight boss battles with each character. This battles are very good made and each feels unique.

You have two main story paths. This paths cross occasionally and you view the story from two different angles, from good and from bad.

Togehter with some mini games, such as Chao Garden, in which you raise a little pet, train him and let him fight against others, this makes one of the best Sonic games ever.

Sonic Adventure™ 2 Nostalgia

I got this game when it came out for Dreamcast and to have it on PC has brought back many great memories. The game is entertaining overall and there is nothing the classic Sonic the Hedgehog feel when moving around so fast that you can't always see what lies ahead.

Great game overall.

Totally worth it!

This is one of the many games that filled my childhood. Even if it wasn't a childhood game, its still worth your time if you're looking for one of the better of Sonic's 3D adventures! For its time it was a pretty solid plat-former, and honestly I think it's still fairly good today. Playing as Sonic, or Shadow is where the game shines the most, and can get really tense with the speed, and levels.

It has its obviously flaws like; The controls, and camera, but its nothing that gets in the way all that often. The main gameplay can be inconsistent, as one moment you can be rushing at light speed with sonic, and then end up doing the walker and treasure hunt stages which are really annoying sometimes, but even though stages when done right with level design can be really fun. The story is also not a reason I play this, but its a sonic game so I always expect something silly anyway. I think this game is worth it, whether you played it already or not!

This game is exactly how 3D Sonic should be done. Sonic and Shadow's stages are brilliantly designed and pure adrenaline-packed, while the other characters bring about a nice change of pace. The game is also chock full of various mini-games like Kart racing, Chao garden, Boss run time attack.

Overall, the simple yet effective mechanics and the excellent level-design elevate this title to a degree far above the common 3D platformer.

*Note: A controller is highly recommended, almost a necessity for playing this game.

Classic game, enjoyed the way that the good and bad sides had competing characters and how each pair had levels that suited their skills. Quite a tough task considering the age of the franchise.

I first played Sonic Adventure on the Nintendo Gamecube and it was great. Years later I see it available for PC and played it, it's just as good, if not better!

This is a great game that appeals to both new school as well as old school Sonic fans. What is interesting is that you get to play as the good guys and the bad guys. All the levels vary depending which character you play. Sonic's levels are mostly the typical type of levels you see in any Sonic game except in 3D. It is all a matter of going from point A to point B. Kuckles's levels are treasure finding level and other characters are simply platforming levels. There are other treats within this game such as mini games where you play and raise your Chao. You can get lost in hours and hours of gameplay just visting the Choa garden. You can even enter your Chao in a karate mini game but this is only available through the DLC add-on Battle.

The graphics in this game are amazing and at times even surpass the already enhanced Nintendo Gamecube version. This is a great port.

I give this game 8/10.

Everything about this game is nostalgic and reminds me of my childhood. The grahpics are decent and the gameplay is pretty good, they selling point is the chao garden which in my opinion i could pour hours of my time into.

My only niggle is that the camera control is awful when close to walls but other than that a great oldy game

This is the best sonic game ever released so far. The graphics are great, and the stories are specific and thorough. The multiplayer is surpassing as it displays a variety of game modes from Racing to treasure hunting, and even shooting/fighting. I highly reccomend this gane to anyone that enjoys action and playing classic ganes.

One of the best Sonic adventures i ever played, as always these kinds of games bring back good childhood feelings, you can also impersonate sonic's friends, which has been seen all over the series, missing out on this game wouldn't be a good idea, since you get many hours of fun, for a cheap price.

This is one of the 3D Sonic games that I would highly recommend. I'm more of a 2D Sonic sort of person but this game soon won me over. It has a nice range of characters to play as, including: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, Robotnik (Eggman, if you'd prefer) and even Rogue. Each of these characters also have their own abilities and skills to use. Despite the age of the game, it's still a solid purchase that any Sonic fan can get hours of enjoyment out of.

The greatest 3D Sonic adventure of all time, after all this years it still has that "magic" that only great games have. Still, Knuckles' stages can be pretty dull after a couple of replays. I'd recommend it to everybody, Sonic fans or not.

One of the best sonic games of the new generation. I would buythis game just for the soundtrack. People may complain about the flawed treasure hunt that could lasts forever, the weak history or other flaws about camera, but the game is worth it´s costs and can give hours of fun.

Sonic Adventure™ 2 review

In some ways this game hasn't aged very well, but I have a feeling most picking it up already will know what to expect. One of the older classics of the Sonic series after its turn into 3D, it is not a perfect game, but it is varied with some ideas executed wonderfully. I don't even mind the treasure hunting stages some seem to hate, but am not the biggest fan of the slower shooting levels. The speed stages as Sonic and Shadow are well-done though, the story is cheesy but enjoyable, and it is all wrapped together with quite a bit of content, a surprisingly deep and fun Chao Garden system where you raise pets that ties nicely in with gameplay, and a rather fun 2-player mode (which unfortunately was not made online in this release). Still, Sonic fans will love it, and its good for those who like older 3D platformers.

A Return of A Classic

By lego6245 posted 25th December 2012

We've been waiting for this one a long time. The "last good 3D Sonic game", SA2 has long been heralded as the example of what a 3D sonic game should be, something that Sonic Team has only started to re-emulate. With the release of Sonic Adventure 2, it's clear that they wanted to bring back those glory days, and by and large this HD remake does so. But that is all this is, an HD remake, there is no new content, and the battle mode is missing, and sold seperatly as DLC. However, no true fan of the blue blur should be without this classic on their PC, as long as the price is right.

Best sonic game ever. It's a 3d sonic game that you race to the end. You have obsticals and other hidden items you need to unlock to beat the game. But the best part is the pet chap you can raise to be good or evil. You can train it and level it and even battle it.

To this day, there is nothing more to say about sonic adventure 2 , as many people already know how awesome it was back in the day; and since they finally ported it on pc , and at such a low price, it would be a crime to not try it !!!!!! so , do yourself a favor, and go buy a piece of gaming history .

ps: also, it has shadow in it, as if it wasn't a reason in itself.
