Sonic the Hedgehog review
Sonic the Hedgehog, what more needs to be said? You definitely want a controller when playing this one though. It also seems harder than I remember, either that or games have become easier? Either way a staple of any serious gamer's collection.
This is the game I loved to play most of all when I was a kid. It is exactly the same one. If you've ever played it you won't forget it!
And now you can actually SAVE the game )))))))
Sonic the Hedgehog review
This is the original Sonic the Hedgehog. If you liked any of the other classic sonic game you'll like this. This port allows you to use save states if you want to and automatically enables any game controllers you have plugged in even older one like the SNES controller.
Sonic the Hedgehog review
Sonic the Hedgehog may share its name with the Genesis original, but this game is even more broken than most of the other recent Sonic games have been.
The environments are at least colorful, but the camera frequently gets in the way, its full of little graphical and animation glitches, lengthy and frequent loading times always get in the way, town missions are just plain stupid, & the action stages aren't really much better.
Memories
This, like the other SEGA classics, is priceless! It really brings such good memories. And you can even save and use filters like the console emulators for PC. Really worth it.
Sonic the Hedgehog review
Sonic the Hedgehog is a Microsoft Windows port of the 1991 SEGA Genesis killer app of the same name. Your objective as the speedy blue Mobian hedgehog is to destroy cyborgs created by the nefarious Dr.Ivo Robotnik out of other, less fortunate Mobians. Your arsenal is your own body, capable of running at speeds in excess of just about every speed limit in the world (except for the Autobahn of course) and using that momentum to curl up into a spiky ball and bludgeon your cyborg opponents. One method of protection from their attacks is gained from gathering golden rings that are placed throughout the stages. Touch a cyborg or get hit by one of their attacks and you lose your rings. If you destroy a monitor containing a shield powerup, it absorbs one attack and keeps your rings out of jeopardy, which is an excellent thing to do since 50 rings allow you to enter a special stage that allows you to complete a puzzle mode for special objects called Chaos Emeralds, and every increment of 100 rings gains you an extra life.
Sonic the Hedgehog is a great game, indicative of the quality of the era in which it was first released. At the price offered, it's just about as right as what you would get the Genesis cartridge at your local used game store for. The underlying code is very stable compared to SEGA's Sonic the Hedgehog Mega Collection Plus (which fails to start on systems that use at least more than 3 GB of RAM). With that said, here's hoping that Gamersgate gets Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and the rest of the PC catalog.
