GAME SUMMARY

Solar 2

Rating: 4 (128 votes cast)

In most games you see stars in the background, you shoot asteroids or you live on planets. But in Solar 2 you ARE these objects! Enter a universe where you must prove yourself to the resident god-like figure by doing its many bizarre and varied tasks. Or just ignore it and see how big you can grow!

Solar 2 is an open-world, sandbox game set in an infinite abstract universe. Play constructively: grow your system, nurture life on your planets and attack enemy life in huge space battles. Play destructively: crash into other objects and cause chaos, use your orbiting objects like wrecking balls, steal planets from other systems.

  • Dynamic abstract sandbox universe. Changes and evolves as you do.
  • Non-linear missions and open-world gameplay.
  • No boundaries. Drift forever in ambient space bliss.
  • Full of weird eccentric humor and stuff.
  • Extensive custom sound track.
  • Includes Free Soundtrack and Wallpapers

Solar 2 I thought was a good game although the ... story? was quite short the missions were really fun. I got about 6 to 7 hours of play out of it and all in all it is a really good game pick this up because it has a long playtime (including missions) and it is really cheap.

In solar 2 you start out as an asteroid and you can move around in space freely. In order to grow in mass you need to ram into other asteroids that are scattered in little asteroid fields, after a few well aimed rams you can grow enough in mass to become a small planet. As a planet you have an orbit that you can use to grab asteroid and you can press the space bar to "suck" them in growing even more in mass. While all this is going on you also have this god-like being with a nice sense of humor that gives you missions to complete. As you grow to from an asteroid to an small/large planet you get new missions for that stage in mass, so this means you can only do missions you get as an asteroid when you are an asteroid and the same goes for planets and so on. And if one wants to go back to an asteroid to do the missions only asteroids can do, you can do this VERY easily by a "basic re-spawn" option in the in game menu to re-spawn to anything you have already been. When you complete all the missions and beat the main game, even though one can go on and on forever there is an "ending" for say although it doesn't have to be, because when you do complete all of the missions you get god-like powers that can be fun to play with for a little while. The game has a good humor to it and has a few hours of enjoyment although once you are done with it, it doesn't have a large amount of replay value.

Pretty simple open world game. It takes time to do every mission and get every achievement. Great humor :D Makes me laugh. And this game is never-ending :) Buy and see! 5/5

Nice graphics and physics make this a well made game which evidently had a lot of time and effort put into making it, although I don't find it that fun or that easy to use although this is just my opinion and I can see how other people would find this fun. For this price I think you could just buy it and try it, if you like it then great and if you don't you don't lose much money :) 4/5

A pleasure...

This is a game made in the spirit of all the best and earliest games. From the early days of video games when the ideas mattered more than the execution, although this game lacks nothing in the technical department. It plays well with the gamepad, has nice tactile features, and the controls really seem to 'feel' like you're controlling celestial objects. That said, it's all about the concept. The game is brilliantly simple, but endlessly fun.

An very relaxing and fun game. The music is so chilled, the humor of the game is good and the missions are fun! a very good game if your not in the mood for noise, exsplosions or concentrating to solve a puzzle. Last but not least the graphics are pretty, simple and enjoyable. Overall a great game 4/5

A very relaxing chill out game to mock about with the stars. Not completly science accurate but who cares.

The excellent visuals, smooth gameplay and relaxing music, make playing this game great for chilling out. The missions are quite fun but once you've done them it becomes an infinite sandbox game, but it does it very well!

FOr the price this game is great, replayability isn't high but the game is so well put together and very relaxing to play. 4/5

A really nice "drop in for twenty minutes of relaxing fun" kind of game. It gets a bit repetitive after a while but you can, after all, only go so far with such a simple design. But it goes a long way, still, to be what it is, and for the cheap price. I like!

It's a nice chillaxing game, which provides additional enjoyment for achievement hunters. The unlockable physics variables bring more entertainment, but don't expect this game to entertain you for more than a few evenings as there's no real goal aside from the quests.

Solar 2 is quite fun at first, thanks to

- a cool concept

- very cool physics effects

- a nice soundtrack

Growing all the way from an asteroid to a black hole is fun the first time, but the game fails at keeping the player interested.

- lack of content and re-playability

- most missions do not reward you for building a complex solar system

I cannot say I did not enjoy this game, but I would not recommend it to my friends for its full price.

Solar 2 is a Indie space arcade game and it hard to beat for $10.00. You start out as an asteriod and work your way up to a planet and then stars and eventually a black hole. The graphics are slick but I wish space had more in it besides the asteriods planets and stars. It would be nice to see nebulas...space clouds or something to give it variety more than a black background. The sound and music get the job done, the music itself is very calm and relaxing which is good for the game and the sound is just about right...except again like the visuals I wish there was more. There is not much of a story to the game besides you trying to accomplish certain objectives given by a voice....and this is probably the biggest problem with the game. With not much to do the game can feel pretty boring and leaves you with a felling of "thats it?". For $10.00 though its a not a bad game, give it a shot.

it has nice visuals and good sounds but i found little to keep me playing this game. i found upgrading you system and seeing what it evolves to quite fun but the missions are very frustrating such as get to one side of the map to the other without hitting anything which is boring and hard with the size of your system . a good game if you looking for something artsy like Flow but there is not very much in the way of gameplay.

This game is simply gorgeous. Made along some quite simple ideas, its execution is made perfect. Reminded me of Spore, and I personally think it even beats it in some details.

Solar 2 does not pretend to be something it is not - it is a game of stellar evolution, where you can fly your object around the universe, interacting with other celestial bodies. Stars, asteroids, planets, black holes - they're nicely depicted, with physics thrown in for a good measure.

There is also life - as a planet, you can have creatures on you, which can give you certain bonuses. And an armada of armed space ships. But beware, for you are not alone, and aliens can and will try to bombard you mercilessly.

If free exploration starts to bore you, there are always missions. They are... innovative, to say the least. Some of them are hard, very hard. Or maybe I lack some skill. But they're quite humorous, and refreshing.

Overall, I like this game very, very much. I was surprised how much time I spent playing it, and how many times I found myself going back to Solar 2. It's nice, beautiful and educational. Go buy it!

And yes, I admit I am a big fan of astronomy and cosmology in general :)

Solar 2 is really an quite enjoy able game.

Something you will spend a couple of hours on without even noticing it.

But a bit short on the tutorial i must say and sometimes the missions were hard to get.

But graphics is super, music is more than super.

The game really is worth every penny.

A nice cozy little game where you get easy instructions on how to go from a small meteroid to a massive black hole. The journey is long and you'll have to make choices on wether to destroy other solar systems or to avoid them forcing smaller planets to orbit around you and steadily absorb them to increase your own mass as a star. Very enjoyable and the background music is nice to listen to.
