The intro from a famous tv-series also describes “Star Assault”, a mixture of “Wing Commander” and “Battlestar Galactica”.
In the thrilling and challenging single player mode the player has to accomplish breathtaking missions. Between the different missions he spends most of the time on a space station or a carrier equipping his space craft with lasers, rockets, shields, or different propulsions. He can choose between different ships. Each ship varies in terms of weaponry and flight quality. The force feedback support greatly improves the realistic experience.

Utter Garbage
Star Assault is an unfinished game. How someone could release this and charge money for it is beyond me. The controls are awkward, there is no interface explanation, during combat your ship has no crosshairs and so you have to guess where you're shooting ALL THE TIME, the cockpit view doesn't even work (when you switch to it you get some weird, half-finished model of...something). Don't waste your time.
Star Assault Seriously Lacks (Total Rip-Off)
Pros: It downloaded and installed quickly with no issues. You can control the game with keyboard, mouse, or joystick. Lastly, it's nice to see that people are still making space simulators.
Cons: Numerous bugs right from the start (read any forum about Star Assault to get a full list). Controls often don't work once you get into game. There are no options for adjusting graphics other than resolution.
Overall, a poorly coded game that has so many problems it should never have been released for sale. This game is essentially and "alpha" build that could be a great game if the developers had actually take some pride in their work. Instead they just shoved this unfinished product out for sale to take advantage of people that are straining to find a new space simulator game. This is the first time I've truly wished I could get a refund for a game I bought.

This game is utter rubbish.
Don't buy. Poor graphics. Poor controls. You are constantly hit by enemy without hope of dodging and without the slightest clue if you are firing at something.
Terrible controls, terrible documentation
I don't know if the dev's are padding the rating on GamersGate to above 4 stars, but there is no way this game is beyond 1 stars. In fact, I don't know how companies can get away publishing incomplete games like this.
Pros:
-Concept, seems cool.
Cons:
-Very poor implementation of everything.
-unfinished.
-total lack of polish.
-The cockpit included is unfinished and unplayable (as in the model is filled with holes, and their is a large piece blocking the middle of the screen.)
-There is no target system that I could find.
-VERY poor documentation, the manual is incomplete and explains nothing
-Controls are not all bindable and some are unlisted in the menu. No explanation either any where.
-Shooting ships is near impossible since there is no lead or aiming reticule. Once again, trying to use the cockpit wont help as the center of the screen is blocked by the incomplete model.
-Very poor flight mechanics. The ship is very rigid and jittery.
Conclusion:
Don't buy this game, even on sale. It's not worth 1 cent and I would not recommend to anyone. Go play IWar2, FreeSpace2, X2-X3-X3TC, Darkstar One, etc. Even The Tomorrow War is better.
