Very good game, I was surprised at just how deep the game is. It has it's faults and could be better, but what is there, is incredibly fun, overall VERY highly recommended.

When you first play this, you would be forgiven for thinking it's combination of a substandard tps and space shooter. Which it is, with a light ship/weapon/character upgrade system. The thing is, as you play on, the scope of the game keeps expanding. You pass through worm-holes in search of runes on mysterious (which you can use in the tps part) and eventually rise to become the head of your faction (of which there are four). This unlocks a very light strategy game, which opens up limited upgrades to your planets and space stations, and allows you to choose which planets to attack. This progression and slight additions to game play helps keep you interested, and the game as a whole, with decent graphics and sound is extremely impressive given that its from an indie studio.

The main criticisms I would level at this game are 3:

1. Becomes extremely repetitive after a dozen or so hours

2. The 2 main components (space battles and tps) really aren't that good

3. Virtually every aspect of the game lacks the depth necessary for sustained interest

Despite the faults, I enjoyed the time I spent playing. It's an unusual game, (reminiscent of the ancient game, Sacrifice, in some ways) and I admire the development team for what they've done. If only there was more depth.

To close, I'd recommend picking it up, but wait till its on sale. I wouldn't have been satisfied had I payed the full 16 Eur asking price.

This is amazing! I can't believe I hadn't heard of it before.

This game is broken into 2 gameplay modes - FPS combat when you're on a planet, and 3D space shooter, when you're fighting in orbit. They're hooked together with a galaxy conquest map, diplomacy, upgradable equipment and skills, and most importantly - an awesome storyline.

Ambitious, but capable of living up to it. Fight ship-to-ship, lead armadas against gargantuan space-stations guarded by imposing battleships, then beam down to the planet to lead the armored infantry against the enemy emplacements there. Journey to remote galaxies and uncover ancient alien powers! Rise through the ranks until you command your faction yourself! No game has ever allowed you such a level of multi-tiered control before. Also, the Drone Unity faction plays like a merger of the Daleks, the Cylons and the Borg Collective, so that's awesome.

This game really surprised me. This is a great game. I hope they come out with an expansion to add some content, can get a bit repetitive. Well worth the price you pay for it though.

Move over Space Rangers

By hemmingjay posted 22nd July 2012

This game is a natural evolution on the concept of Space Rangers. The last indie game I played with this much gameplay was Mount & Blade. Like M&B the graphics are a generation old or so and it's using an older engine but the gameplay and polish more than makes up for it. It's criminal to have this much fun for less than $20!

A great play, with longevity!

I love this game, constantly evolving game play, surprises, increasing difficulty level, protection against players mistakes(they warn you when you are about to do something really stupid), I love the mixed ground(third person shooter) and space combat. I wish I could go first person though.

This game is actually quite good. It reminds me of Parkan II as it has flying around in space and taking over planetary outposts. However it is different in that it is mission based and not quite as open ended as Parkan II. It has some action and RPG elements, but it's a bit limited on both. Shows how games don't have to be huge roaming areas and complex skill/craft building and still be fun. Defintaly a keeper.

When I saw this game, I was very hopeful that it would be good. The first thing I'll say is that it is not perfect. There are a few things that would make it better. With that said, I love this game. The gameplay is basic but fun. The more I play, the more I like it. As you progress along, the difficulty increases, changing the way you play. More missions are unlocked and options made available. For the price point, it is an awesome buy. I recommend this game to anyone who enjoys a game that offers different gameplay options, this is it.

Great Indie Game

By brendenr posted 27th June 2012

This game is deep, and probably not for the casual gamer, but that clearly isn't the intended audience!

I had access to the beta a few weeks before it released here on Gamer's Gate and played about 10 hours of the gameplay with the Wyr faction. You level up your avatar by completing both space and ground missions. With these ranks, you are able to access other game mechanics. One of the levels I gained granted me access to "bounties" so I could sign up to go out and kill bad guys in space for rewards. Then with the credits you upgrade your ship/avatar with better weapons, generators, shields, etc. After getting used to the controls and how to navigate around the solar systems game really opened up.

First few times through the worm holes I died a horrible death, but once you get the hang of it its a nice intense experience right before the space battles.

I was able to play with a Microsoft Gamepad without any problems.

Looking forward to playing the officially released game and getting into some of the deeper gameplay!

The following is is not an in depth review of the game (of which there are several already on the net) but I wanted to point out for anyone getting a graphical distortion loading the demo, the demo's configuration file is set to a very low and strange resolution.

This can be fixed by allowing Ogre Configuration Utility to launch at start up via editing the configuration file in the game's main directory. Once edited you will get prompted with a graphics setup option each time you start the game and from here set it to a more appropriate screen res.

I was surprised to find that not only is this game very well polished, easily working with my Logitech Dual Stick set to X-input but the game has been optimized to the point that it works well on my old system at 800x600 res and all settings on medium. I'm running an AMD 2400+ Single Core, 1 Gig RAM, Win XP SP3 32 bit and GeForce 7300GT.

I played the entirety of the demo and my main concern was rather or not ground battles became more challenging or sophisticated then what they were during the demo because the two ground missions presented in the demo felt like easy and tedious interruptions - another reviewer has stated that they do become much more involved and that is what sold me the game.

Also note that there is more meat than the just the space and ground battles presented in the demo but those jobs and duties (eventually leading to Strategical Management) must be earned by gaining ranks and mastering the more mundane, Mickey Mouse, tasks presented from the start of the game. Apparently you can eventually also free roam space on exploration missions or set about cleaning up sectors as a Bounty Hunter.

This game is really a very poor game. The animations and graphics are just terrible. Guys talks and their mouths don't move, you invade colonies and take over them by killing a few guys and destroying a few buildings. It's hard to describe other than it makes me think of an Iphone game, you know something very generic and simplified.

Salvation Prophecy - Pretty Darn Good

By aranos420 posted 25th June 2012

You might say Salvation Prophecy is a spiritual successor to Pandemic's Star Wars: Battlefront series of games. You choose one of four factions, each with unique weapons, special abilities, and play styles. You start at the lowest rank, doing your initial fighting as a grunt on planetary battles. These consist of you and 20 other ground troops assaulting colonies defended by a generally larger force of enemy troops. After wiping the troops out, you proceed to take down several buildings, possibly equipped with laser defenses. Upon success you gain credits and rank points (XP). Credits are then used to purchase equipment and ship upgrades. Upon reaching a certain rank you unlock your space fighter which allows you to participate in the more challenging space missions. They play out in similar fashion - take out all defense craft then shoot up the space station, or whatever the target happens to be. Hyper jumps and warps include slick little mini games that require you to navigate around obstacles and avoid taking damage. Eventually you unlock bounty hunter missions, solo planet investigations, and you even command your faction's strategy. I've made it as far as solo planet missions - I haven't tried these nor have I tried the bounty hunter missions. The game has been challenging, but never did I feel it was unfair (so far anyway).

Graphically it's pretty decent - not eye popping, but certainly not ugly. Frame rates are smooth, controls are pretty tight, and the voice acting is decent as well. The music does an excellent job of getting you into the combat and situation.

Pick this title up if you want a good sci-fi action game with a variety of gameplay missions.
