Rainbow Web 2 review

By lancelotdulys posted 1st January 2010

I finally had the time to complete all 82 level of this little casual game. Having played the prequel I was happy to see that, while retaining the same game-play, most of the aspect were improved. First off, graphics are sharper than the first title (don't expect anything extravagant though) and music is better and less annoying (but still repetitive). Game-play is like I said intact (swap gems to match 3 or more of the same kind) but with some new twists. Web layout will change from stage to stage, thus affecting the way gems will travel on them. Black beads now appears and cannot be directly swapped. Getting rid of them will require you to make them fall of the web. After a couple of stages, you'll be “challenged” with a puzzle game requiring you to reconstruct an image or find some hidden parts of a magical artifact. Although fun, those puzzles remain easy and more of a distraction from the gem-swapping galore. Each level can be completed under a specific number of moves. Doing so will grant you a “gold medal” and this is where the challenge is to be found, but sadly there's no added benefits to do so. Like the first title, you can play with or without a timer, this being one major plus over the myriad of game of this kind. All in all, a fun and easy game that I recommend to any casual-type enthusiast.
