Another fine title from Ageod.

Good game, even more enjoyable if you are into this period of warfare and history. The usual Ageod (now Paradox France) attention to detail, a stunning map and lovely soundtrack really gives this game a nice polished feel to it. AI is competent, again compared to some wargames out there is is not bad at all so this is always a good selling point.

Good game.

A great wargame in a theater of operation rarely addressed. The gameplay is an ideal synthesis between Wars in America (where it does not support the Army Corps system) and American Civil War (with Corps systeme but where you must manage the economy).

One of the better Ageod Titles... though still abstract in the Ageod style of play.

If you are a table-top general and enjoy this era in Central Europe, you may enjoy this game.

My very first foray into the famed AGEOD engine. Decided to take the plunge because of the subject matter, a period I am clueless about - so you can get sales from being different I guess.

I struggled initially with the command structure set up, but once I got into the "box within a box" principle I found myself zipping along at a fair rate. But it did take a goodly amount of practising forming and reforming corps and armies for me to make the click.

The supply routines work very well, and really influence your strategy. I found myself wondering why my units kept wasting away until I sussed how to use the guerilla/ranger units to hassle the enemy.

You can pick the basics up very quickly, and really get into the nuts and bolts of the engine if you really really want to. However, for me, I don't want to, and I found it pretty easy to get the basics and start establishing my glorious empire. Once you focus on supply and army organisation, the rest of the game falls into place very nicely. I am now a convert!

Great game: First impression: Nice, painted map, lovely music.

Second Impression: Not too hard to understand the basics, but why am I always beaten up?

Third impression: Okay, there are a lot of factors that determine a battle outcome. (The game is really deep.)

Fourth impression: Even if I slowly learn to master the game, AI still gives me a good fight. AI is really good, much better than that of EU, for example.

An outstanding wargame.

Rise of Prussia is a game that interested me from the start of its announcment. I feared it was too much about war while i prefer more grand style strategy and nation development.

I must say my fear and hopes where met at the same time : Its a real great strategy game for armchair generals , located on a pretty map and in a greatly researched historical setting. Its nice some game developers tackle niches like the 7 year war.

Still with the main task being to assemble your army properly and then lead them to war is not my kind of game to be honest. Its fun to play some rounds but to really be succesful and master the depth of the game you should be a fan of the genre. If you are this is your game as its depth and historical setting will suck you in i guess.

Part of a whole family of games, RoP is another impressive game by AGEOD. I will not go out and say it is tremendously original. After all, AGEOD games always use the same game engine, resulting in similar looking products. That said, one must always remember that the game is not a grand-strategy or nation building one, but rather a wargame. Under that light, the lack of scientific advance and limited timescale becomes reasonable.

At the current reduced price though, RoP is a very good purchase, for anyone having the slightest interest in the era and its history. Just don't expect it to be of the scale of Europa Universalis...

Yeah, all AGEOD games are alike, they do not change a lot from the previous, other for some minor individual touches (the 'civil war' version of AGEOD has railways, for instance). Considering the proximities of technological limitations, "rise of prussia" has almos no difference from AGEOD's napoleonic game. And actually this last one is richer in termos of scenarios.

To be frank, they have that feeling you get of having seen them all from having seen just one.

But I mean not to disincourage anyone. The game is VERY good, and the advantage of having all of AGEOD's titles (even if they are pretty much the same game) is to acheive immersion in scenarios and specific historical moments that you would not get in other gams. Who would though that someone would create a game based in the 7 years war? For history buffs the game pays just for that.

I got it and I do not regret, but this is because I enjoy depictions of historic periods. The more, the better. If you want to buy only one AGEOD title, go for the napoleonic battles version.

Well, it's not a game for everyone, but wargamers and strategy lovers can find a very bruised and deep game.

The way to represent how warfare was developed in the 1750s is great, and the historical immersion is a great point. There's also some political and production features, which are not the point of the game (after all, it is actually a wargame), but they give it a nice additional layer to you usually find in this kind of games.

If you also take in account the continuos support from developers, working in new patches, it makes of Rise of Prussia a great option for wargamers.

My only but is that you should like to see more variety of scenarios.

The game is very hard to master be warned. It does not feature superb graphics.

But if you like war you will love it. It allows a nice strategic concept (the classic Ageod game type). A nice scale of management. It lets you manage armies and corps as well as their strategic movements.

If you like the old Fritz, you need this game. Else I may recommand you easier games to play.

This is a strategic turnned bassed game, is very similar to the new World War One Gold, all this games is form the same house and all versy similar between then. You can play with Prussia or Austria, save the first or destroy it. You have to remember is by turns, not in real time, most people don't like this, doesn't care for me, the game is good enought to have a good time. 8.3/10

This a game which has great depth of play. It has many features. While being one of its strong points, it is also one of its week points.

Although providing a detailed tutorial, this game has a very large learning curve and will certainly disuade novice players.

Therefore I recommend this game to players with patience and probably are hardcore strategy players. Other players might find it hard to appreciate this gem.

As a lover of military history, and one known to play with toy soldiers, I have to say this is a pretty accurate representation of 18th century European warfare. It plays well, not buggy, and has enough chrome for any budding Hohenzollern. I particularily like the AI and the attrition of your own forces through bad supply and winter operations. Good game.

Well here we are a RTS set in one of the most over use places ever Prussia or now Afghanistan. As we know RTS's have become more and more complex ever since Total War came along. In some ways this is a bad thing. I loved when you could just load up a map and play a simple skirmish, but sadly that doesn't happen anymore.

Story: Well this is intresting, The story tells the ups of Prussia and all it's major battles (if you know them). However it's only a setting there's no voice acting only texts which can only give an expericance to some small level. So the story is not that good.

Gameplay: Ok this is where it gets generic. Lets put it like this, copy and paste every line of code in from Total War change how it looks and the interface and you have Rise of Prussia. The new interface is more confusing to me than any other RTS. The reason why is because the buttons are tiny on my 18 inch screen and the text that explane it, is small and gave me a headace reading it. Apart from that it's pritty basic, take over the map anyway you want to.

The map is huge and the levels takes hours to compleat this is all good but sadly the game gets repetative and way to well familiar, i've played it before and played better. All in all the game is way to familiar, everything else well it can be fixed but then are you willing to pay £24 for a game that you have already played. Buy it if you haven't played Total War if you have consider it.
