Rig'n'Roll review
This game actually has quite a few good ideas, but the polish and implementation are sorely lacking. If this were not the case, I might have been able to enjoy it despite not being a huge fan of the genre, but sadly that was not to be.
Rig'n'Roll review
Racing, hauling cargo and just driving around jacking other driver's loads, this sounds a little bit like someone set out to make GTA-like game, only with trucks.
Unfortunately, without quite the spit & polish that the GTA series games show. The conclusion is that you would need to be at least a fair bit attracted to the underlying idea and concept of the game, for the implementation in this game to be sufficient.
What I mean by this, is that there are many games out there which are implemented and presented well enough to let even those who are not fans of the genre, appreciate and enjoy the game based just on the workmanship and presentation. Conversely, there are games where implementation and presentation is so poor that only a hard-core fan would be willing to put up with it.
This game, while not ugly - quite the contrary - it is one I deem hard for a non-fan to really appreciate and get into. Racing is fine, but hauling cargo quickly gets old if you're not into this type of game play. The story also does little for me, it comes across as an afterthought.
However, the novelty of driving a truck does keep the game rolling, if the pun is permitted, for a fair while, and as the game is now often on sale, this may be enough to give even a non-trucking enthusiast value for money.

Enjoyable, but not at the current price, wait for it on sale. I got it with the 1C pack. The graphics are good, the gameplay is solid, would be nice to have mor customization though.

I love this game! It's the best 18 Wheeler game I've played. It has the best driving mechanics and the features are just awesome. It's like a GTA style 18 wheeler game where you get to do different stuff like do missions, do races, etc. I haven't finished it, but I am loving it so far!
Rig'n'Roll review
Let's say it right away: Rig'n'Roll is meant for hardcore truck simulators fans.
I'm not one, but I did have to applaud the effort put into it. Even forgetting to turn your signal lights on could lead to a ticket.
The game is part management, part driving. You can hire drivers, choose their truck and set their courses, and they start bringing the cash in - that's not all there is to it, but I did find it wasn't the most interesting part.
The main part of the game is driving. All the things you can do will require you to play with a keyboard - you've got the standard key for wiping the windshield, but you also have the means to detach your cargo, use the clutch, and do other things that I don't quite understand.
Let's say it again: it's probably a classic truck driving simulator, but it's meant for fans.
Rig'n'Roll review
i couldn't get the game on the roll so to speak, either my truck was very slow or my driving was very weak, but it seemed every bump separated me from my trailer and put me that much further behind, it got frustrating after a while, and i just gave up on playing it any more
An open world game with a lack of content
RignRoll is an open world game where you earn money driving a truck from A to B (either races, deliveries or special missions) and can then invest that money into a trucking business, opening new branches, hiring new drivers and buying new trucks (for yourself and your drivers).
The basics are very solid, the graphics are largely very nice, run excellently on my late 2008 mid-range system and the controls are simple and work well. There are a couple of oddities that clearly should have been cut or worked on further before release, notably the vehicle damage system (damaged parts make no noise and behave as if there's no wind buffeting), but they're the exception rather than the rule.
So while it's a brilliant game it's hard to recommend simply because of a lack of content. The storyline is perfunctory, there's little in the way of artificial life on the roads and after 30-40 A-B missions you've mastered that, and unlike other similar games (e.g. X3: Terran Conflict) there's little to do while you're travelling as you don't have access to any trucking company details. Ultimately I've put the game down after having only visited about 60-70% of the game's towns.
A good game, but don't expect it to last you particularly long and it's likely to leave you with feeling that you'd have liked to have played it more if only there was a little more to do.
Rig'n'Roll review
The graphics are not "astonishing" as they claim nor is this game "the most accurate and innovative truck driving simulation game ever produced" but it is a helluva lot of fun. The game has a few problems and the kind of problems that make you wonder if it was ever play tested - "why would they do that?" I asked myself at times but overall it is a decent game.
Rig'n'Roll review
A weird mix of simulator and arcade racer. Lots of customization for your truck and a lot to set up. Graphically your trucks look great and the physics are ok. Where the game falls down is the limited number of game modes, mostly limited to racing from A to B in the shortest possible time. A shame as there is a lot of potential here.
Rig'n'Roll review
To be fairly honest, I could have done better with my money. There are so many awful things about this game, though it does have some great things.
To name a few, the graphics and vehicle custimization is very limited. The graphics are "last century" and the vehicle customization limits you to a very small selection of colors (about 6 or 7), unlike the 18 wheels of steel series where you have a full color palette to pick just about any color that exists.
One of the biggest annoyances I have is that after making a delivery and picking the next shipment, the game goes into a cutscene mode showing the truck leaving the warehouse and pulling out onto the road. In fact, this cutscene also appears when leaving the refueling stations, truck stops, etc., and it does not return the control of driving until you're a few feet away from hitting a pole or having to make a turn. So if you aren't quick to react, you're either missing the correct direction or you're going to hit a pole.
The physics are very unrealistic. The driving control and steering is also very unrealistic. It isn't that big of a deal, but having a more realistic physics and control would make the game a bit more immersive.
My favorite part that I have become a fan of, which I always thought should have been implemented into the 18 wheels of steel series, is the story mode gameplay. There is a sort of story to follow, not exactly a storyline. As time passes, certain events happen that come with a narrated discussion. From time to time, there will be hitchhikers on the road that you can stop and give a ride to for some extra cash, or people with broke down trucks and cars that you can stop and loan your tools to, etc.. The only downside to this is that it isn't random. You can start a brand new game and have the same acts repeated every time at the same times. Sometimes you will also get "phone calls" with requests. The last one I took ended up getting me into a cutscene where I was being chased by people with guns shooting at my truck. By the time the control was returned to me, the truck blew up and I died and had to restart the game. This absolutely sucks! All that work for nothing. Absolutely no warning of this whatsoever, and no chance to escape or even start my game prior to that point. Of course I didn't bother to save my game as I wasn't very far into it.
A lot of the driving and deliveries are in race mode. You have a substantial amount of time, usually a few minutes to spare, to deliver the trailers. At the same time, you are racing against 3 other trucks which all start out ahead of you on each delivery but you catch up to them in no time. Its very simple and easy. They get stuck in traffic that you can easily maneuver around. They don't violate the "laws" and swirve onto the other side of the road to pass like 18 wheels of steel AI would do. This story based gameplay is rather fun, addicting, and sometimes exciting. It definitely makes for better gameplay.
If this story mode was implemented into 18 wheels of steel, then I'd never buy this game. With that said, if you're looking for realistic then this isn't the game for you. If you're more into the story and mission based gameplay, then it might be worth it to add to your collection if it ever hits the $10 price mark.
Some casual gamers who haven't been over-exposed to the high tech technology available in today's games will find this game to be an enjoying experience and worthy game. Others will find it to be a huge disappointment just as I did. It could be much better if only it had the same elements from the 18 wheels of steel series.

Good simulator game but its not worth 20 dollars. The graphics are nice and the trucks are authentic so if you like simulators this is for you.
Rig'n'Roll review
not the worst but after the long wait for it to come out i was personally expecting alot more from this as a simulator. but hey its still a fun arcade/checkpoint racer. 7.5/10
Rig'n'Roll review
this is a very fun game! If you are familiar with any of the 18 wheels of steel games or freight tycoon, this is a combo of both. You are in charge of a company which you inherited from your brother. You start the game driving your own truck and choosing the best run to take. As your company grows you can buy new trucks and hire drivers for these trucks.
A very fun element to the game is the truck stop where there is a handful of things you can do. You can go to the restaurant and get side missions or go to the hotel and let time speed past as you sleep. The best feature of the truck stop has to be the service shop where you can repair and upgrade your truck. There is also a storyline running throughout the game that isn't to bad but not a major factor in the enjoyment of the game.
The only other thing I feel it necessary to mention is when you purchase the game it will only allow you to install on 3 computers at a time. Not a big deal because if you need to install on new computer it lets you de-authorize old computers. This has nothing to do with the play of the game but it's worth noting.
I recomend this game to all the people that love driving trucks, this is a great game to play. It a good game because when your driving you got a little competition, the only promblem is when you turn the trailer slides out, anyway this is a pretty good game.
Rig'n'Roll review
I would recommend this game to any hardcore truck simulator fans. This game is one of a kind, completely different from any other truck simulator available on the market currently. Unlike other truck simulators, this game has a story line to it which involves more then just hauling loads from point A to point B. You also have the option of just hauling loads from warehouse to warehouse if you don't feel up to completing missions. One thing that decreases the value of a simulator is that in each city there is only one warehouse where it is possible to deliver and gain a load. The games management system has great depth to it. The are many variables to take into consideration when purchasing a truck, hiring a driver or investing in a new office. All round the games physics seem to lack a lot of detail and make the game feel more so and arcade based game. Something that does inhance the simulation side of the game is the shear size of the map and attention to detail. Although every road and side street is not accessable, the area for each city is quite accurate and indulges the game itself, especially comparing it to other truck simulator games. Throughtout the game their are many things Softlab have missed that makes a simulation or in this case, a truck simulation as truck simulation. Keeping all of this in mind, it is worth the price tag but there is definately room for improvement in the future.

I would recommend this game to other player or people who drive Trucks its very realistic and gives you the feel of having to drive a truck out on the open road with stupid drivers and cops!
not the worst but after the long wait for it to come out i was personally expecting alot more from this as a simulator. but hey its still a fun arcade/checkpoint racer. 7.5/10
Rig'n'Roll review
Comparing this game with the trucking simulators is hard if you try to be objective.
Personally I have played EuroTS, GermanTS,18wAmericaLH, 18ExtremeT and lastly rig n roll. What you do in the other games like driving cargo from A to B you can do it in Rignroll as well the main diference is parking and attaching cargo and perhaps the time limit.
Other diferences of course are the scenarios, the trucks and activities such upgrading trucks, hiring drivers, and basic management of a virtual company.
What I think of the simulators is that perhaps the driving experience is intend to be the most similar to real life however all the surrounding and changing factors are far from real, the trucking simulators in my opinion is like driving in a race circuit while Rig n roll is trying to be more similar to driving on the highway and the street.
What Rig n roll offers is a combination of hauling, racing, tycoon management and missions very similar to the Test Drive game, not that focus on the story but still interesting, Rignroll offer a better traffic AI, you see the diference of dirving in San Diego and driving in mojave and is more chalenging although not as enjoyable as in the simulators, the scenarios are high detailed, real and visible damage happens to your truck, the Radio is creative and far more interesting than in the simulators although it becomes a bit annoying when you hear the same music or dialogues during the game, the movies are a nice detail similar to the arcade games but not very well done, there is always something different going on, the cops chasing you is better than the simulators although can be improved, the fact that if you crash really bad it could lead to death in the game is more realisitc than in the simulators finally I think the price is more fair than some of the expensive simulators like ETS. There are many things to be improved on Rignroll but I think that now on the game developers are going to take more seriously the trucking games and simulators as wel. In conclusion you like driving trucks buy a simulator, if you think simulators are boring for you but still like trucking games try rig n roll and you may have more fun, as I do.
Rig'n'Roll review
Pretty good game. Yes, it's not a simulation like 18 wheels of steel, but more arcade. Still, graphics are much better.
Rig'n'Roll review
Rig'n'Roll is not simulation like WoS series of SCS, operations of attaching/detaching trailer are no needed in the game,(it's manually possible, but like easy mode in WoS series) and physics is also not realistic too.
If you want to play simulation, keep away from this game. Features' description is wrong, this is not simulator.
If you prefer action truck racing game with tycoon and story to real truck sim, this is yours.
Rig'n'Roll review
I'd hold off on buying this one. It's got a lot of bugs and anyone who has played any of the Hard Truck games should be used to that. The tutorial does not work and the keys are set up a bit differently than the Hard Truck games. Ignore the system requirements when it says you can run it on a Pentium 4 2.4GHz as that is complete BS. I am running a P4 3.0 Hyper-Threaded with a GeForce 9500 and it runs very choppy and is almost unplayable even after installing the latest patch. This game seems set up more as a race than as a trucking sim. You drive the truck but you don't hook up to your trailer, it's all done for you and all you do is point the truck. There is always other trucks doing the same run and you are apparently in competition with them and are always playing catch up. Maybe that is how it is supposed to be in the beginning, but there is no way to know since the tutorial doesn't work and the into to the game treats you like you been playing this game for the last several years. If you really like this sort of game you will enjoy it but to me it is a step away from what I am used to with the Hard Truck games and leaves something to be desired. At least this game seems to have a point to it where the H/T games were always very open ended and went nowhere, so maybe it will get better if I can get it to run better on my rig.
Rig'n'Roll review
Be aware that this game is not what most people think of being a "simulator game" Yes it look good, and have physics and the models can break appart ect. and yes you drive on the road from a-b.. But to be honest you do not have to attach the trailer your self you just see an video sequence. Its all about racing from a-b beeting 4 - 6 other computer apponments and even in hard mode you can do this every time.
Yes the game is big and beautifull with nice features but it feel like an arcade racing game, and not a truck simulator game. I hope they will one day make a patch that allow you to drive realistic delivering cargo and not having to race all the time.
But okay game, i give it *** stars.
