Interesting game but it has issues.

Each puzzle element in QUBE is very interesting. It uses the same structure as Portal, meaning you go from chamber to chamber.

The greatest strength of QUBE is also it's greatest weakness: The pacing. The game is constantly giving new puzzles elements to you at a fast rate. It is probably the best paced puzzle game I've ever played (Next to World of Goo, and that's really saying something) but because each puzzle element is constantly being changed, it means they barely get any time in the spotlight before they're thrown in a pile somewhere and your now playing with a new one.

This means that the game gives each mechanic enough time to teach you how they work, but not enough to actually start challenging you. That's an issue.

I only found 3 puzzles that gave me any challenge (1 of the 3 was challenging in a frustrating way, not a satisfying one) and as it just so happens, challenging puzzles are the entire point of a puzzle game. Shame.

I don't need a story to enjoy a game, a little contextualisation never hurts, but if there is no story, then who cares. But QUBE TEASES at something more, it wants to tell a story, but it is neither here nor there. It is a story, but it is not enough to give any context to the puzzles, let alone actually be an interesting narrative.

You just wake up in some lab, and start doing puzzles, a bunch of stuff happens and then the game ends. No explanation for what was going on.

The art style, while derivative of Portal in some ways, is rather lovely. Each room is a gorgeous, sterile white with occasional colour thrown in here and there to keep white from getting exhaustive. No one is going to say it's an ugly game, unless they are crazy.

A well put together puzzle game with a Portal vibe to it. Puzzles are challenging and fun. Not much to be said about the graphics, as the game takes place in a sterile white cubed environment. Worth a play through if you liked the Portal games.

I loaded up this game expecting something akin to Portal. Having played very little similar, I was looking forward to it.

The game does feel similar to Portal, in that it involves a progress through a selection of puzzles.

However, the puzzles themselves are significantly different from those in Portal. This is to Q.U.B.E.s benefit; while playing it I realised that my initial impression was quite wide of the mark.

I would recommend this game to anybody who appreciates spending time thinking about the solution to a particular problem or anybody who enjoys physics-based puzzles.

Coming from a Portal lover (the CAKE is a LIE!), I expected QUBE to be very similar with only a few types of actions involving the gloves and a couple of movement options. I was wrong, so here is my review of the game.

Pros: The game has lots of interesting puzzles continually changing and getting harder to test your thinking. They add some parts to the game which leave it open to create a story base if the game is continued. Lots of interactive puzzle objects to make the puzzles larger. Every level is different to make the puzzles non repetitive. Game provides a learning curve to give you a chance to figure out how each object works. Dynamically changing rooms.

Cons: Game could use better physics involving the way objects fall or move around. Rooms could use a little more texture to make them more appealing as you walk through them. Would like to see more static and dynamic objects instead of having mostly empty rooms. Would like to have a character to interact with like an AI computer. Game menu could be a little nicer.

Even though I wasn't very happy with the physics of the game, I understood that they had to have it the way they did otherwise some of the puzzles wouldn't work properly. So apart from that, the game was very enjoyable and completely different from what I actually expected from the game. I know that this game was a prototype, so I eagerly wait for the sequel of the game to come out which I hope will have better physics, scenery and include a story line.

A lot of people are comparing this game to Portal... Personally, I don't see much similarity between the two besides they are both puzzle games.

The problem with Q.U.B.E. is that there is almost no story in it. You wake up and you start solving puzzles, without any knowledge of what is actually going on and why are you here doing this.

This does affect my opinion of the game but it doesn't change the fact that this game is amazing!

It starts as your average puzzle game, move this, move that, and you solved the puzzle... But this is just the tutorial.

Very quickly you'll find extraordinary levels that make you think, some of which you will be stuck on for quite a lot of time.

The design of the game is very good and so are the mechanics. They are easy to learn, but hard to master.

And yes, this game is pretty short, but not shorter than any other puzzle games are.

This is definitely worth the money.

Very nice game, a bit short and there is no real story, but the puzzles are fun and challenging while not too hard.

The version from GamersGate does not register on Steam, you only get a download option, therefore there are also no achievements.

Technically, it runs flawless for me, make shure you turn on dynamic lights as the makers recommend in the game menu.

I recommend this Game, but due to the short length IŽd wait for a sale.

Quick review of the game, for those of you wanting to know if it'w worth the money.

Let me explain. it's a great game, but fact is, it's short. Very short. I solved it all in a few hours (about 3-4, actually), and was so surprised at how short a time it took to beat it that I was looking around for more thinking I missed something.

Nope. It's just short.

Also, the secret of C.u.b.e. is is pretty simple as well. Really, they DID reveal A secret. Kind of. But facts are, there was no real sell for it. It was more of a story consisting of walking around through a bunch of rooms and finding out you're in a warehouse on a military base. What's the point to knowing a secret like that? What did it really reveal?

By the way, no it's NOT in a military base. No spoilers here.

The puzzles are nicely varied, and the learning curve is pretty even in how they show you the ropes. Truth is, some of you will get more mileage out of this kind of game because you'll take longer to solve some puzzles. Others of you will have solved it in 2 hours.

So, after just a few hours, and a few dozen puzzles, you're done. Sadly, with nearly no replay value, that means you're done. Period. Nothing more to see here. Nothing on the website saying there will be any DLC for it, and nothing that looks like a level editor.

So that's it: A great puzzle game, at a low price, with nothing really beyond that. If you like puzzle games, then you really need to get this. If you're looking for a Portal2 story-line and revelation, then move along.
