Pride of Nations Spanish-American War 1898 (DLC) review

Another DLC for Pride of Nations that gives us a chance to take command in a much underrepresented war in video games.

Pride of Nations Spanish-American War 1898 (DLC) review

This is one of the pivotal events in the emergence of the United States as a World power. How can you pass up a chance to be Teddy Roosevelt yelling "Charge!" and storming up San Juan Hill?

There's an old joke about the other incident in the war, to the effect that Dewey's famous quote at the Battle of Manila Bay was taken hopelessly out of context. He wasn't expecting a battle and just happened to be hopelessly seasick. So he turned to his exec on the bridge and said something like "I'm not feeling very well after that long sea voyage and I think I'll be skipping dinner. So just put the steaks on the fire when you're ready, Gridley".

Not Common

I won't come back on the reviews of Pride of Nations. The DLC is reasonably priced and adresses a war that is only seldom found in videogames. Well, understantably enough I must say. But well, a good addition to the base game

Pride of Nations Spanish-American War 1898 (DLC) review

An additional scenario for the game Pride of Nations, but only if you really feel like playing this. Interesting for those that, especially with the currently campaign turn times, would like to complete a game within one hour.

This short scenario offers to fight either as the Spanish or the USA. It does not contain any build options or recruitment options, similar to the other scenarios. Only the units you start with are available and some are locked and can therefore not be moved. The AI does a good job, similar to the other scenarios. As the Spanish you are waiting on the defence, therefore this scenario is more suited to play as the USA.

Final verdict, for those that own Pride of Nations, but did not preorder (thus don't have this scenario without buying it additionally) I would advice to only buy it if you are really wishing to play this scenario. It does not hold any additional content for the rest of the game and is IMO not very interesting on itself either. In short a very short uninteresting DLC scenario made just to make preordering more attractive.
