This is the expansion that made Victoria accessible to everyone. Admittedly, Victoria (the original) was very difficult to adapt to as a player who started into Paradox Games with Hearts of Iron II. The economic model was difficult to get used to, and many of the features of the game could be ignored without consequence. But many of the original Victoria's bumps and edges were smoothed out to create what can only be described as an absolutely fantastic game to play.

On its own it is a game that could stand to be updated with a patch or two. The interface is very basic and as an expansion it does add some breadth to the original. Overall I'd say if you love long, tedious gameplay and you have the patience and time to spend, you will come to love this game, singleplayer and multiplayer. The game is never the same...and seeing the impact that you have on history is a blast. Make sure you read the readme though, as some of the nuances of the game you can only really get if you read ahead of time.

Great addon for a great game. Makes Victoria more fun to play. If you got Victoria - make sure to buy this addon. Its not often you get this much content for €5.

This expansion in my opinion is a must have for Victoria fans, it is filled with changes that dramatically improve the gaming experience. One thing I really appreciate is that laissez-faire economies now properly build factories and railroads on their own, based upon a (theoretical) supply and demand scheme. Remember to keep your taxes and expenses low, your nation will rapidly grow before you!

I enjoyed the original Victoria and was very ambivalent about getting Revolutions because I wasn't sure about no longer having control over which industries were developed, but I found it to be a highly enjoyable game that was effectively a sequel rather than an expansion because it played so differently. I would recommend playing through Victoria a few times first then adding Revolutions, because you are getting 2 games for the price of one and a bit that way.

As a game depicting possible alternative futures of our past, Victoria: Revolutions rank number 1 in my lists - the sheer amount of details and information that you get in the game play is second to only major games like Civilization - and only because they have Civ-pidias. I first learned of Victoria through an online web-page that had a person showing how the game was played from his chosen country. I was mesmerized at the open-ended game-play of countries in the past centuries. What if Texas remained independent and took over huge swaths of Mexico and the US? What if the Roman Empire still existed? So many alternatives and now a method to play them out! The system is not the most friendly one or easy to learn, but for a die-hard STG gamer like me, this is perfect. The only thing that could be better is the conversion system that would link this game with the other games of the long line of historical games Paradox Entertainment has created.

A great add-on to one of the best games out there. It adds a number of new features which require the player to develop new strategies. In particular, political parties and their philosophies are much more important in dictating the actions the player can make than in the original. Highly recommended!

Victoria: Revolutions offers a number of clear improvements to the game. While still not perfect this is about as good as it is going to get. While it does not add a whole that shouldn't have been in the game when it was first released, it does finally fix a number of the problems that Victoria had making for a far better playing experiance. This is probably one of the deepest Real Time Strategy Games that is going to be made. Almost certainly the deepest Victorian RTS your likely to see. It's cheap and offers a number of great new features so if you liked Victoria you should buy it right now! Even if you didn't enjoy Victoria, Ricky adds a number of nice new features which make the game easier to play and helps to reduce micromanagment.

The above reviews say it pretty well. Revolutions is more like a heavy-duty patch for the original Victoria, but well worth $10. The developers and members of their forum have been tweaking and improving this game for years, so they deserve the $10! It's also easily moddable, with a text editor. But you have to like the EU/Hearts of Iron genre to enjoy it, I think. Personally, I like it better than EU I-III and Hearts of Iron (with the core patch). HOI II, I can't comment on yet.

Victoria Revolutions improved the economic management of the game to a great degree. The addition of new technologies and timespan allows the player to go up to 1936. Good expansion for any Victorian fan!

Though not a spectacular addon in terms of eye candy or revolutionary concepts, the gameplay improvements over normal Vicky really make this one of the most valuable addons I've ever purchased.

Victoria has been a Playable and brilliant game since patch 1.1. Just go to the Vicky forums and look at the last 4 years of Post's, AAR's, and game analysis.
Never consider your opinion as fact. Its always a mistake to do so. If PAtrick was correct there would be no forum for Vicky the last four years. It would not have recieved the support that it did get. Or none of the uber great mods would have been made for it by the community.

Grain of salt is how fellow man is best dealt with...
