Mass Effect 3 Digital Deluxe Review

By vincent121 posted 9th May

There's a lot of justified controversy over the end of the game, and I agree, it was very much a let down. But that shouldn't take too much away from how amazing this game is. The environment and the characters that BioWare was able to create in this trilogy literally redefined immersion for me. Finishing the game gave me more emotions than I've ever experienced from any movie, game, or TV show.

That being said, I like to consider the Citadel DLC as the actual end to this trilogy. It's basically just fan service, but so very well done and I loved every second of it.

ME3 Review

I won't go on about what you've likely already heard, but I will say that if you haven't played this yet on PC or have on consoles, you should buy this. For the amount of content you are getting with the Digital Deluxe Edition, the hours of fantastic role-playing, and the deeply developed and emotional story of survival, you'd be crazy to pass this game up! The ME universe has always had a way of making people care about the characters and how Sheperd's (their own) choices will effect them, and the galaxy. ME3 is no different, in that it reaches the summation of all it's parts (your choices from previous games) and gives you a taste of raw truth of past heroism, sacrifice, disaster, and what it means to be human.

There has never been a game as good as the Mass Effect Series though the buildup to the game was super immense only to pop like that on the last game, the story is still worth listening to and the game even more worth playing. Superb work on BioWare's end but they could have done better. Multiplayer is also awesome though I'm not an avid supporter of multiplayer on games since most games honestly don't need them and just guzzle resources designed to improve on single player experience, this game overall is wonderful.

Mass Effect 3 Digital Deluxe review

Mass Effect 3 is the culmination of a six year long Sci-Fi epic. Having made hundreds of choices over the course of three games, the players will see how their choices have affected the entire galaxy, and how those choices could change the outcome of the game for better or for worse. Mass Effect 3 brings plenty of new threats and more in-depth information to the series' already impressive lore. This game, however, is much more action oriented than the previous games, losing much of the RPG elements from the first game, and even some from the second. Boasting some of the most unique, immersive, and beautiful scenery of the three games, players will explore new worlds and colonies, and get the opportunity to touch down on some planets in the Sol system. With hotly contested ending scenes, free DLC called Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut was released in order to extend the scenes and add a little more clarity to the end of this massive series. As sad as it is to see the completion of the trilogy, it's a bittersweet parting with a phenomenal series that takes players beyond the boundaries of this planet to a Sci-Fi universe unlike any other.

Great price for a great game. Held off playing this game for a while due to what i heard of the ending but it's a great game none the less. honestly, the ending didn't even bother me that much but i do see where it could rattle some cages.

Some of the most emotional moments in a game evar.

I know there's complaints about the very very last portion of this game. I agree with those complaints.

BUT WITH THAT SAID...

This game was soooo amazing. It wrapped up storylines that have been going since the first installment in such a fantastic way.

I love love loved the Geth and the Krogan storylines.

I love the direction that my commander shepherd went... the whole character arc.

Just fantastic. If you've played the earlier games, please don't pass this one up just because of the very ending. You'll really regret it.

The best of the series in that your choices affect not just the world but your crew. This game generates emotions and will probably piss you off on occasion but the high points are just as good. My GamersGate download wouldn't run as it kept asking for a disk. Instead I got it to work by adding the serial key to my Origin account then downloading from there. enjoy the game and hang on for the ride.

Mass Effect 3 Digital Deluxe review

By Misterpinky posted 7th November 2012

For all intents and purposes, Mass Effect 3 is the best game I've ever played. The original endings weren't great, no, but the Extended Cut endings are fantastic (and are free to anyone who purchases any version of ME3). The game itself is a very-well paced TPS/RPG with a tremendous amount of depth to be found in the combat, weapons, weapon mods, and leveling systems. The classes are unique enough to warrant separate playthroughs to try each and every one, and your squadmates are varied and interesting, both in terms of what they're useful for and their personalities. The singleplayer lasts a solid 30 hours, and is highly replayable.

The multiplayer is phenomenal and has sucked up more of my life than I'd care to admit, with great maps, tons of classes and weapons, and a tremendous amount of reasons to keep playing long-term.

On a more technical note, the graphics may not be state-of-the-art like Battlefield 3 or Crysis 2, but they are very well done and Mass Effect 3 in general has a fantastic art style that is a treat for the eyes, even when the textures aren't. Because of the occasionally crappy technical effects, however, it'll run on just about anything, and the art style shines through no matter what. The voice work is excellent, and the soundtrack is one of the best I've heard in recent years.

So, to sum up: Buy Mass Effect 3. It's the best game of 2012, and one of the better games to be released in the history of gaming.

Mass Effect 3 Digital Deluxe review

There has been a lot of disagreement with the final chapter of the mass effect series. I for one thought that game was excellent. As with any fan of the series there was a few things I would have liked to have seen different. The choice of characters is more restricted than the army of backup I carried around in number 2. I wish some older characters were available to play instead of dropping some new ones into the mix. The ending was not how I would have done it, but it did finish the game and word is that a free extended ending is on its way to explain things a little more. All in all I think it is a great game and a must for anyone who has played the previous two. Multiplayer is surprising enjoyable in its simplicity, so expect long term use out of the game.

I give this game a four out of five stars. Why not Five? The Garbage endings. Seriously, I can't give that away without ruining the game or having my review taken off.

But you can do the research yourself. BioWare should have had a spoiler alert that this game would totally anger their dedicated fans. One of the greatest games ever made until the ending. Really quite sad.

ME1 remains the best in the series because of this gross misstep.

If you've played the last two installments, I can't expect you need anyone's advice to buy this one. If you haven't, you'll catch on quick. In fact, this game is so good, it's worth buying the first two and playing right through. Might want to take a bit of a vacation, first, tho --- there's a lot of game here.

I do have to say: EA is really starting to get on my nerves a bit. Origin has been crap. Day 1 DLC is bull-hockey. I suppose that didn't matter as much because the soundtrack is enough to get me to buy the deluxe version. The pre-order rifle is crap. You replace it in the 2nd mission (1st, if you don't count the training mission). Micropayments for random crap on the multiplayer is bull-hockey, too.

But the game is that good. Sigh.
