Fun game that I come back to every now and then. Positives of the game include the different units and uniforms within factions, the beautiful classical soundtrack, and of course muskets and cannons. The big negative for me is that the game does not have a single player sandbox mode like the other Mount and Blade games.

Very good DLC for Mount & Blade. In my opinion it's the best. If you like wars from the Napoleonic time & cannons I bet this is for you!

Without question, a pretty good expansion to Warband. However, a few flaws mar it. The most significant of these, in my opinion, is that there is very little in the way of single player. One can have single player battles, but these generally feel limited and hollow. This is contrasted by the excellent multiplayer. There are plenty of servers, and some of them are still quite full, making a good game easy enough to come by. The gameplay feels similar to that found in Fire and Sword, with a few minor differences, largely, I'm assuming, for reasons of balance. All in all, not perfect, but certainly enjoyable.

This is well worth the price tag if you enjoyed Warband's original mulitplayer. Get together a few friends and let the fun roll in. It does not add any single player content, so be aware of that. Also, it does not really graphically enhance the game.

It does add a variety of weapons from the Napoleonic era. You will shoot your rifle, and either take a few seconds to reload and fire again, or charge in with a number of melee weapons. I really enjoyed all the different classes, and thus roles available to play. You can play as a field officer from horseback, a standard line infantry, or be the drummer boy.

It is certainly a differently paced game than most. If you enjoyed the multiplayer of Warband, this is a smart buy.

Napoleonic Wars started off as a mod for Mount & Blade. Some of the developers were contacted by Paradox and asked to make a sellable DLC for Mount and Blade Warband also based on the Napoleonic Wars. The team delivered and made a very different multiplayer experience than vanilla Warband. The high numbers of players able to play at the same time (going into the hundreds)suits the Napoleonic style of warfare much more than the gameplay of hacking and slashing. It allows for even more tactical decisions and flexibility while offering players a look into the battlefield of the early 19th century in Europe. It has its flaws, some the same as Warband. The aesthetics and the graphics are nothing the shout about (although really for something that is essentially an Indie title I think it can easily slide), clipping issues are abound and some stodgy animations let the game down. However, the gameplay, music (an arrangement of classical and Romantic scores), player count and charm of the setting all add up to make an inviting and gripping multiplayer experience that you really cannot get anywhere else. This DLC is really one of a kind and I hope the American Civil War DLC will live up to the fun of Napoleonic Wars.

Installed it not thinking much of it. But after a few minutes playing.... The scale and the weird things happening on my screen... Line battles, flute players marching, trumpeteers and piano playing. What a game.

Great multiplayer fun if you can find a group of people to do organized line battle with. Having 100 people duking it out in formation while cannonballs whiz by is quite an experience.

There is no singleplayer, however, and seige/team deathmatch get tiresome after a while.

Still, for the money, its a lot of fun.

Iwas sceptic about this expansion of M&M warband. And i was wrong, yes wrong. Let just say that the felling of the game is different, bacuse it insnt instant, action is really different, you are mostnervous when reloding your musket, and then when you fire, and noooo!!!!! miss or hit...I must say i enjoy it and sieges are really cool :D

its a fantastic addition to mount and blade warband, i am soon going to play mulitplayer! i mean, just the suspense of having one life standing in a line shooting at other people not knowing who is going to die first is just wonderful!

I first found Mount & Blade when i was poking about Half Priced books, absolutely loved it. So i decided to try out Napoleonic Wars & i dont regret it. The combat is fun in an aggravating way. No Single player, but the multi-player is outstanding. Skill plays a great deal in a match but on the individual level, luck has been the deciding factor for me. With firearms requiring a decent time to load, you absolutely must rely on team mates to survive. Unless you feel confident in use of the bayonet. Cavalry play is interesting & rewarding, infantry play is outstanding, & artillery is satisfying. Its well worth the purchase.

A great multi-player game, though in order to enjoy it I urge everyone to join a regiment. I've been playing MM since the prussian patch and my regiment from this game has become my staple online community - sometimes they can take it a bit seriously but it pays off when your regiment take on two other one in melee. Don't expect polished AAA gaming with a scripted storyline but a difficult, steeply learning curved multiplayer game.

This game is best played with friends! If you join a regiment then public servers are boring to the weekly linebattles the community has to offer. If your thinking about getting this DLC, then grab it! The best thing to do is join a regiment or play with some friends.

This is purely multiplayer DLC so do not expect any campaign here. If we consider Warband to be the standard with its fluid and fast paced combat system then this will be a pure disappointment. WFaS has already been somewhat poor in its implementation of combat but Napoleon Wars is even dumber than that. Learning curve here is virtually non-existent because the melee feel so clumsy that it is hardly possible to reliably win a fight 2v1. But surprisingly the missile combat here is even worse than WFaS because the muskets have far worse accuracy than in WFaS (after 200 years of development Taleworld? Really?). The artillery is nice addition and destructible environment as well. Some of the new mods (Commander mod) are also fun so it deserves the 3 but it's definitely not worth 10 euro so wait for any discounts if you must have this.

For an indie game they really do give your monies worth. Fun game with some nice graphics and decent sound. Controls can be a little tough at first but give it some time.

Nothing like riding into battle.

Fun way to burn some time.

Mount and Blade Napoleonic Wars is a true example of what "indie" game developers are caperble of given the right tools. Napoleonic Wars takes the original mod and improves on it tenfold. If you love multiplayer Warband and the Napoleonic era then this will certainly be worth your money.

What you should note however is that Napoleonic Wars has no single player, which is very disappointing and like with most games it isn't without bugs.

Mount and blade is a fantastic game the graphics are awful, but the gameplay is incredible. I would say that it's the best combat simulator made to date. Sure beats Skyrim or the like anyway.

Any of the mount and blade series are in my opinion worth what they're sold for

The Napoleonic Wars really does set apart previous M&W experience. While With F&S was a welcome distraction from medieval flavor GP in the Warband. The NW is really lets you taste the combat in a very new way in 19th cc style. The atmosphere, aux effects and surroundings make for a helluva immersion

I like the new gameplay with the canons. Beautiful uniform. A nice DLC for multiplayer.

But, I hope they will expand this in a campaign because for now ,i dont have interest to play it until that.

A little diamond here for multiplayer !

Mount & Blade is one of those franchises that continues to grow, improving greatly with each no addition. Napoleonic Wars puts players in the mud & blood of the early 19th century and does a wonderful job of portraying the warfare at the time.

With 200 player multi-player, a gigantic load of weapons, the addition of engineers and musicians and excruciatingly destructive artillery, Napoleonic Wars is a must for anyone who enjoys either Mount & Blade, the Napoleonic era, history in general or massive multi-player battles.

For me, the only downside is the lack of a single-player, which it makes sense that there wouldn't be one, considering there weren't exactly wandering bands of Mercenaries when Napoleon was rearranging the map (well.. maybe the Freikorps... sorta... ish?)

Anywho, buy it, hop online, kill folk, have fun.

Warning.

- The are no Singleplayer.

Im very dissapointed, and im even a huge fan of the series.

When i bought this game i was looking forward to my usual single player campaign/action but this new addon is "multiplayer" only or costom battles...

To say it with other words I wasted my money since I never play multiplayer in mount of blade!!.

Els the new feature about using a cannon and artillery ect. are interesting and I would very much have liked to play single player.. But now I will uninstall the game about 15 minutes after it was installed... The developer and published should be ashamed of them self for not clearly writing that this game is "multiplayer" ONLY.. I think alot of people will be very dissapointed that you cannot play on the "original" map with new units ect.

This Multiplayer Addon to M&B Warband focuses on éarly 19th Century military combat. Featuring troops of the three branches of landbattles in that time. Infantry, Cavalry and Artillery. But you will also find sappers, who can build defences and british rockets.

For battle, you can choose from one of 220 unique units in nice historical accurate uniforms

Since it is entirely multiplayer there will be need for singleplayer mods. But I've heared, that modders are allready planning on creating there own a sigleplayer campaigns...

Great game, will definitely spend as much time playing this as I have with Mount and Musket. I would suggest joining a regiment and playing in linebattles to have the most fun you can in the game. Try the 2nd Coldstream Guards commanded by Crawdaddy, very fun regiment.

Latest expansion to the the Mount & Blade series. Now you are able to experience Napoleonic era war. This expansion adds to the multilayer content of the game and and brings the era to life. While the graphics are simple in a certain sense, the game play more than makes up for it! Paradox one of the game designers are known for their awesome games and they have yet to disappoint!

Mount & Blade Warband: Napoleonic Wars review

By jompa posted 18th April 2012

From playing in the beta I can say that this game is utterly fantastic. The new uniforms looks gorgeous, the new marching feature is glorious (Finally lines that no longer have to RUN everywhere!), and the artillery is revolutionary. Canister, explosive, round... All sorts of ammo is included.

There are mortars, howitzers, rockets and normal cannons, all with their different strengths and weaknesses. The rockets are inaccurate and hardly reliable, but easy to carry with you, and have some impressing noise.

The new maps continue to inspire awe every time I see them, especially the new Star Fortress map is a pearl among maps. Combine this with the new historically accurate music, made by proffesional musicians, the possibility to have linebattles with 250 players, as well as the fantastic Warband engine, this can easily become one of the best DLCs ever.
