Mining and Tunneling Simulator

Rating: 3.2 (39 votes cast)

Blast the rocks and drill tunnels beneath cities. At the beginning you have enough time and no major problems. Once the TNT charges are placed you can start the blasting to create the tunnel entrance. The excavated material will be loaded by a shovel dozer on a dump truck and transported to the storage site. As soon as the entrance is cleaned up the huge tunnel drilling machine will march up. But this monster can only start operation if it is supplied with sufficient building material. This has to be delivered by crane and train. You have to steer all vehicles like the maintenance van, crane, tunnel drilling machine or the fire brigade.

Mining and Tunneling Simulator review

By itburnswhenipee posted 11th March

I bought this game while on sale for $3 thinking that $3 was a small enough price to satisfy my curiosity. Now, I went into this expecting a game with dull subject matter that maybe, just maybe, might be surprisingly engaging. What I got was a game with dull subject matter that was also glitchy and has terrible controls.

For example, the second stage of the first level has you scooping up rocks with a front end loader and putting them in a dump truck. You then need to drive the dump truck to a pit where the rocks are dumped. The first time I started to raise the bed to dump a load of stones I was surprised to suddenly see the tailgate spinning madly in the air about four feet behind the truck. During the dump one of the stones failed to fall into the pit. "No problem," I thought to myself, "I'll just use this giant truck to nudge the stone into the pit. It's right on the edge; how hard could this be?" So I swung the truck around, lined up my front bumper, and ever so gently nudged the stone. It was at this point that the physics engine went crazy. The stone did not get tipped into the pit. Instead my dump truck started careening away from the stone at high speed and only stopped after colliding with a shed. This unexpected turn of events led me to reevaluate how I was using my time, and I quit the game.

Despite all this I still highly recommend buying this game, but only for $3 or less, and only as a gag gift.

Ok. This could be a very good Sim.. If only the producers spent more time on the extream envoroment that tru too life construction teams worked in.

The T.B.M is a very cool machine and deserv's the very best desighn detail that is on offer to the desighners of this game.

Sadly there are cormers that have been cut and it's taken the tru to life feel out of this game?

I discoverd a fault in the game that only comes to light after many hour's of tunneling with the T.B.M and sadly the only way out is to stop the game a start all over again..But I have never been able to compleat a tunnel of any kind. (The only fault I find is the Screen starts to Black out moving from left to right at the T.B.M Pannel, untill there is a total black screen.??)

Other than that it's a great game..!

Terrible, very very BUGGY!! Frustrating beyond belief, even the load game freezes the PC up. The dump truck jumps up and down on its own. The front loader floats into the air and cannot be used. The bugs go on and on.. very poor indeed. I patched it and it made no difference.

This is a solid enough game. Each section is well constructed and it allows you to interact with a number of vehicles. There is a choice from a dumper lorry, a front loader, two vans, a crane, a train for transport and the mining equipment itself. You need to be on your toes at all times to ensure the mining equipment can run smoothly. There are a number of things to watch, fuel levels, the number of concrete sections left and possible repairs that need to be made to continue.

Good game - 8/10

This simulator is a blast! You not only create tunnels, but can drive through them as well! The tutorial isn't perfect, so you need to figure out a few things yourself. But, once you do, the experience is very very rewarding. The process of tunneling is very time consuming (a few days), but it is at the same time very fun. You are constantly doing something whether it is resupplying the drilling machine with concrete panels, fixing problems with the utility van, or steering and directing the drilling of the tunnel. You are never bored, you are always needed, and you are always awarded for your efforts. My only complaint is that the tutorial neglects important info that I had to figure out myself. I rate this five stars, because it surprisingly exceeded my expectations.
