One word, map maker. Okay, two words. Along with 8 more mission and the goodness that entails you can now make your own missions with a nice but somewhat confusing mapmaker. Much like other xpacks the missions are harder, so make sure to bring your A game. All and all, a nice xpack but wait for a sale unless you are a hard core Majesty fan.

This addon to an already existing fun RTS/RPG game offered me number of hours creating my own missions, highly recommend those who wants to design their own challenge to get this expansion pack.

Majesty 2 Kingmaker Expansion is bringing fresh missions and some items to your realm. The main value in this expansion are the new missions. Where you will face the goblins tribes.

But be aware that these mission are meant for people who completed the original game already because the missions will be hard.

Kingmaker is a more-of-the-same expansion for Majesty 2 that adds little to the original game's formula aside from intense difficulty and a map editor.

Reasonably lengthy new campaign.

Stiff challenge, even for those who finished the original campaign.

Some incredibly difficult missions.

Little in the way of new gameplay.

Includes a powerful map editor.

Plot is shallow but addictve fun gameplay is still there. If only they had put more kooky zany craziness in instead of taking themselves too seriously this would have been epic battles + epic fun. I like the epicness of majesty battles more than I like civilization and warhammer style epicness.

Rather shallow expansion with a new mini-campaign, spanning over just 8 missions. The map editor is not really a pro since it was implemented in the original via patch by now. There is absolutely nothing new in here, except for the orcs... oh well. New units for the player should have been a given.

The missions in Kingmaker are better than the missions in Majesty 2. So, if you liked M2, but wanted more and better missions, it's a pretty easy decision. Otherwise, it's pretty much the same game.

Kingmaker adds more missions and little else. To be fair, the missions are generally better than those of the base game, with more varied objectives and restrictions and less of a focus on just killing a boss. If you liked Majesty 2 and wanted more missions you can find eight good ones here. Otherwise skip it.

Decent expansion for a decent game.

Sadly Majesty 2 does not live up to the 'fantasy kingdom sim' title of the first game as they took most of the sim aspect out of the game.

Majesty 2 is pretty fun in its own right however and worth a buy for some mindless fun.

All around a decent expansion for the money. It is lacking some items, like an easy to use map editor (the one that came with patch 1.3 is literally the tool the developers use). But a difficult editor is better than no editor. The lack of user made maps after 5 months speaks for itself in this category.

The expansion also lacks a free style mode like in the original, though one was never promised. It may be the most requested feature, and sadly hasn't been implemented yet (and may never). But for $15, you get a decent amount of play with the new campaign and new monsters. In general, if you liked Majesty 2, you'll probably want to grab this one as well.

An enjoyable expansion that adds a reasonable amount of new gameplay for the price. There's a lot of criticism out there for Majesty 2, and, while it's true that the lack of a random map generator in particular is unfortunate, the game really does offer a unique and entertaining RTS experience.

The indirect, hands-off style of gameplay governing over quirky heroes and your own fantasy kingdom almost feels like you're acting as a "dungeon master" for a PnP RPG or MMORPG. You won't find a single player experience like this anywhere else in modern games.

I feel that Majesty 2 lives up to the original, but vitally lacks the most important aspect present in Majesty 1: a map editor. With the expansion, I was told that this would be remedied, but I have yet to figure out how this new promised map editor can be accessed. There are posts around online explaining how one can go into the folder and change the coding to allow you to edit maps, but I feel this is too complicated and the game itself should provide this ability in a standard and simplified fashion, as they did in Majesty 1.

Otherwise, this is a good game, and I recommend it to those who loved the original as I did!

Majesty 1 was more a sim, Majesty 2 isn't anymore a sim but target mainly RTS with a very original shift borrowed to Majesty 1, you don't control directly any troop. Kingmaker only expend Majesty 2 so don't expect Majesty 2 be more Majesty 1 like with Kingmaker. Kingmaker adds a campaign with 8 missions, 4 advanced and 4 expert, but from the few I played the advanced missions are harder than those of the original campagin, a good point for an expansion. This expansion also adds some new game elements included in this campaign and then available for making your own missions. For example you get a full set of Orc units, items and buildings fully working. For other elements recently added to Majesty 2, the editor of the game tried to play it fair with the fans by providing them for free through a patch of the game, the 1.3. This includes a mod support, a full mission editor, a new ingame shop system for buying DLC with some DLC for free (some new maps and some new game elements). It also includes a nice random option for playing any mission, single missions or missions of a campaign. It's only a partial random but it's still a cool element to use for replaying one of the two campaigns or your favorite single missions. For the DLC system added, it's not linked to Kingmaker but it worth a quote. Some DLC come for free and that's cool. Some need to be bought with blue coins, take care that some DLC are packs of other DLC, if you buy all packs to get all DLC currently available it will cost close to 21€. But that's your choice, you could only buy Kingmaker currently at 15€ and get only the free DLC, just your choice.

As a fan of the original Majesty game and Majesty I have to say this was a nice addition to the series. The addition of the 8 more missions, some new abilities and hero units was a welcome addition. The biggest addition to the game has to be the map maker which is huge since Majesty 2 didn't include a skirmish mode. The biggest drawback to this expansion is you have to spend blue coins to get some of the new features of the expansion through the in game store. There is around $20 worth of coins you have to spend to get all the content for the expansion.

Majesty 2 Kingmaker Expansion review

By Bazarov posted 27th March 2010

I've spent the last 3 hours playing Majesty 2: Kingmaker, and I am impressed so far. The new map editor is well done and exceptionally easy to use. The new campaign is solid in length at 8 new missions, there is a much better variety of monster types, and I found the difficulty to be more challenging than the original campaign. There is also an in game Gamers Gate store that sells all sorts of downloadable content including new buildings, new hero classes (yesss), new spells and abilities, a new blacksmith level with lots of new weapons, etc.

You'll end up spending another $15 after you buy this $15 expansion, but I believe that for $30 you are getting a ton of new content and I feel that the total price is justified. Also, worth mentioning is the inclusion of some really cool new particle effects for spells and boss abilities that make larger battles interesting again and fun to watch. Did we get a freestyle quick game setup like what was in the original Majesty? No, but with the new 8 map campaign, all the new single missions, the map editor, and the new content...the lack of a freestyle mode is almost forgivable, almost. 8/10
