One of the best game of this generation: incredible humor, neat gameplay and casting system, unforgettable coop experience! don't even second think it, just grab it!

Magicka Collection review

Really awesome game, experimenting with the differents elements, creating new spells. It's a very good experience. And the difficulty is well balanced, you can begin the game and wander around, trying stuff, and as you step further in the game, it starts to be really hard and challenging. The differents robes, weapons and staffs, and the magickas offers new gameplays each time, the only drawback is the lack of online players.

Not good for Solo

By bagetti posted 14th April

After playing the campaign (or adventure as they call it) it becomes clear that the game is balanced around Co-op. Trying to complete this game on your own is a challenge, especially when you're new to the game.

I would suggest buying it together with friends. Or if you don't have any, like me, be prepared for a rock hard game.

One of the most awesome games ever. Works great in single-player and multi-player and a solid story with lots of humor. I really enjoyed it :)

Simply a must-have game! It has a much simpler mechanism than other similar games, but that doesn't mean it isn't fun! It's a game that doesn't take itself seriously, and that's a good thing. Better when played with friends.

you need a fairly decent computer in order to be able to run this game. The main draw of the game is multiplayer. Therefore dont buy it if you are looking for a single player experience.

A both fun and funny game

By CJV25 posted 27th December 2012

This game is very straightforward, with endless combinations for spells and endless victims to try them on. It can also get very chaotic when played with friends. And this game is meant to be played with friends, the campaign will become very hard to play solo from chapter 5 onward, like the developers themselves said, dying is part of the game, have a friend revive you. And without friends to revive you the campaign becomes much more harder and a lot less fun. And it is a very fun campaign, with various funny references. It's a shame it can not be properly enjoyed solo.

I really like Magicka. However, I’m a bit concerned that the high learning curve, and remembering the elemental combinations might be a big turn-off for people expecting Magicka to be a Diablo-clone. For those who can dedicate a little patience will be rewarded with a really fun (and funny!) game. Part of the enjoyment of playing Magicka wasn’t even in playing the game, but experimenting with the various combinations of elements and seeing what they do. Magicka has its share of glitches, but a lot of them can be easily overlooked. Magicka can be purchased for $9.99 through a service like Steam, and for what is offered, it’s an excellent deal!

A really addicting game, very fun, can be annoying at times, the spell system is really advanced as the amount of combinations is amazing.

A great magickal (haha) game wich can be played alone or with friends ! Create new spells by combining severals spells and destroy your ennemies !

This is an indie game 100% recommended, unique gameplay, addictive and varied to create infinite spells (Based on 8 plus 2 hidden items can be combined 5 at a time to create all sorts of powers to use with your sword, in self, or as directly throwing area, excluding the spells itself), without annoying mana bars or limitations. Graphically it is "colorful", music and sounds well and with humor classic top. The online mode in 3 modes (PvP, Challenge or Campaign) is highly recommended, is much more enjoyable, even if technical problems (Lag and optimizations) is recommended to play only with friends "nearby" (same country).

Its Magica! It really fun with coop and the deathmatches are crazy. Get the collection so you do not have to buy each other dlcs also. But buy this when its on sale. Otherwise its too expensive.

Awesome game, especially if you have a group of friends to go on adventures with. The base game itself has quite a few things to do, but with this you'll get most of the dlc, so there's even more to explore and discover. I definitely recommend this game to any group of people that want to play a good cooperative game together

I got this collection while it was on sale here and also on Steam, it was cheaper here and what suprised me the most is that I got the serial keys for the later DLCs as well.

The game itself has a great value, it's fun with tons of funny references. The magic system is really good and addictive with an extreme amount of combinations. The grapgics and sounds are decent, they both have a certain level of cuteness. You have a fairly big selection of different robes that give you different abilities. The game can get repetitive after putting in a dozen hours though, and unfortunately players can't join in-game, only lobbies at the beginning.

All in all, it's best played with friends for sure and offers a great value for your money.

One of my favorite CoOp games of all time, The game is a blast. The humor in it is amazing. The Magic system is unique, and rewards you for experimenting. I have also found it worth getting for just solo play, but it is considerably more difficult without friends.

This game is truly hilarious! Just make sure to play it in the original language, which is some sort of gibberish with random english and swedish words thrown in. But the most fun of this game is surely the multiplayer part: coop with constantly killing your team mates only to revive them again or versus mode to directly battle your friends. And with this collection with that many DLC you'll get hours and hours of fun!

Great game to play with friends or on your own (though much better with friends than alone). It's really addictive. The graphics are very nice, adding good climate to in-game world - the game is actually pretty polished. It can be a bit tricky to play, but with a group of friends, you'll find the hours just fly by.

This is a surprisingly addictive game. I really enjoy the shear volume of combinations of spells available. It's almost overwhelming, but in a very fun way. While the story is very linear the game play is the very definition of sandbox. This is a must have game. I'd also like to thank GamersGate for adding in the 2 holiday DLC's that were not originally in the collection when I bought it. Thank you very much! They have a new very loyal customer in me.

Magicka Collection review

By SeverianPL posted 26th June 2012

Magica is exceptional game. It's hard to define what really it is. At first it looks like a hack'n'slash mostly with magic and some weapons, but then IT starts. Bunch of gags, parodies, refrences to movies, books etc. Sense of humor of developers seems to be endless... and this funny language, mix of few real.

Combat system is quite easy to learn, but hard to master. Main advantage is no level system - only to player depend how he will combine eight elements of magic. Of course, there are some limitations i.e. earth magic cannot be splitted with electric, but it's explained at the start of the game. With game progress there are some special spells released by space button which gave better effects of magic i.e. Storm Spell.

Save points are not mine favourite save system - I would like to save in any moment. Sometimes there is hard to pass some levels when character dies at the end again and again.

Magica gave me a lot of fun. It's kind of a game for everyone. It's relaxing, funny and enjoyable :)

Great Game

Such a great game for the money, It's not for everyone, but for a guy that only plays action FPS and RTS, and never play anything with magic spells and geeky stuff, i actually fell in love with this game and put 10 hours in 2 sittings. I highly recommend trying the demo at least, as the game controls are a learning curve

Magicka is a very fun game, where you have to combine 8 prime elements to create very powerful spells. But watch out, your spells can give other results than you've hoped for. The 4 player Co-op gives this game the great ability to be a very fun multiplayer game.

Its a really fun game to play with friends, there are nearly endless combinations of spells you can use and different ways to kill your enemies or your friends(:D).As for the DLCs, i dont think they are worth buying and if the host got them, rest of the players will be just fine. Also this doesnt contain some of the DLCs, 1 of them is important, too.

Magicka Collection review

By shouwaronin posted 14th June 2012

Playing the demo of this game convinced me to buy it. I never regretted my choice. Even after hours of play you can find new combinations of spells. Though designed as a multiplayer coop/pvp game the singleplayer part is well done.

Pros: - endless combinations of spells and effects

- also perfect for casual gamers for just having some funny minutes without having to follow a

deep and atmospheric story

- staffs and weapons to improve your wizard and adapt him even more to a specialized tactic

- very diverse enemies, always challenging, there is no one ultimate strategy, adaption is key

- the story is real fun

Cons: - the amount of spells is often confusing and it becomes hard to memorize them

- in singleplayer sometimes really difficult

- loosing equipment forces one to restart because there are many unique items which are then

lost for the whole game

So if you are looking for a funny and challenging game where your creativity and curiosity is needed then Magicka is a real good choice.

Magicka Collection review

By scottcd posted 14th June 2012

Magicka is a great unique game. It really should be played. Playing with a friend makes the game quite intense. There are a number of bugs and glitches that can make the game unplayable for multiplayer. It seemed to work just fine on single player though.

Pros

+Great Magic System - It allows for discovery of tactics such as getting a baddie wet and then freezing him with cold. The game doesn't tell you how to play or what spell combos to use.

+Witty Writing - The story is riddled with funny references to movies books and a lot of pop culture. It also has very funny writing and voice acting.

+Replay Value - With all of the DLC out now there is quite a bit of fun to be had in the game.

+Graphics - It has a very fun cartoony style.

Cons

-Very Buggy - Sometimes the game can be unplayable and you will have to start over from checkpoints (if it lets you). Also it randomly crashes, and in multiplayer it can just show a black screen instead of even giving you the game.

-Bandwidth Hog - This game takes up an ungodly amount of bandwidth to play. It can really cripple gameplay for people with slower internet connections.

Magicka Collection review

This is a great collection. Magicka is a birds-eye-view game where you control a wizard that can cast spells by combining different elements. Arcane + fire = fire beam. Fire + earth = fireball, etc... etc... It makes for unique gameplay that is enjoyable for hours on end. But probably the best part of the game is the humor in it. Honestly, any game that references Monty Python is a winner in my book. The collection differs from the base game by including new items, maps and "magicks". I wholeheartedly recommend buying this game.

Magicka Collection review

The game has a true potential and get very exiting at times. The humor take on the game industry is wonderful; but all this glow has its terrible downside. The game is ridden with bugs that ruin the experience. If you are a casual gamer, this game is not for you. If you don't mind having to put up with plenty of bugs you may be in for a treat.

Magicka, a great game, you will find your self playing the multiplayer over and over again. The gameplay is great and youll enjoy it alot you will also play the story mode alot but I find the PvP and Challenge modes more enjoyable. whats so great about this game you ask? well, you simply have to look at a simple gameplay video to see the uniqe spellcasting. You can combine elements to create spell, any spell works. any combination you choose. you can then cast it in one of two ways

A. simply shoot it as a projectile or create a force shield (if you choose the shield element)

B.cast it around you or on yourself (depends on the spell.)

There some kinds of spells (beams, projectiles, shields and i am pretty sure there are more)

and each elemet have an opposite it cannot be combined with (life - arcande, water - fire and more)

The game is uniqe and fun but its way more fun to play with some friends (up to 4 players) so my opinion is that the game worth the money

Magicka is a short but sweet action RPG where you control a wizard from a top-down perspective. The campaign will take you around 6-8 hours to finish, and then there are arenas where you can fight against enemy waves or duel with other players. The extremely large spell library will have you spending at least 2 hours figuring out what works best for you, and the spells are cast by using combinations of typing Q,W,E,R,A,S,D,F, and shift on the keyboard. A small spellbook of about 20-30 learned spells are given to the player, the rest is all experimental.

A must to have in your collection!

Magicka is an action oriented nostalgic tribute to classic rpgs such as Baldur's gate and newer games such as World of Warcraft. Despite the tribute/parody nature of this game it has it's own unique features and a life of it's own, the variety of spells in this game is a source for hours of fun in itself.

I love Magicka the way a fat kid loves cake. I adore it completely, see my addiction with some guilt and know for a fact that it will inevitably get me killed. Of course, unlike diabetes, death in Magicka tends to happen with greater frequency and more hilarity. Best played with four people and easier completed with two, Arrowhead Studio's action-adventure is the textbook definition of the phrase 'Hell is Other People'.

As far as I'm concerned, there really is no reason you shouldn't purchase Magicka. Unless you're the type who demands exquisite discipline from their team mates, it's going to be one of those games you pick up to play with friends again and again. The perfect antidote to the melodrama that seems to fill the genre, Magicka is my personal game of the year.

An excellent game

This game is really fun, the humor and allusions are omnipresents yet you never grow weary of them.

You can also called it DLC game of the year, it has a bundle of good DLCs to purchase(not necessary just for more fun and challenges). In this game you can mixed and create the spell, really fantastic, but this game is too hard for single player, don't forget to bring your friends out together in this game, you will get a huge ton of fun and big big laugh. :-)

This is a game that is more about having random or spontaneous fun, than trying to precisely achieve the goal of finishing the game. Best done with as many friends as possible, as more people tend to cause more unexpected circumstances. There are so many possible outcomes to any situation or battle in Magicka, that it can really give it some replay value. This collection has most of the good DLC included and is a good value. The biggest knock on it would be that it is not the complete set of every DLC released for the game.

Magicka Collection review

By yalcinkrky posted 8th June 2012

Learning how to cast magic in Magicka is a lot like learning to type. You take it one key at a time, pausing between each tap to consider whether you're proceeding correctly. It's a slow, deliberate process, but it's encouraging because the feedback is instant, whether positive or negative. In Magicka, tapping out memorized keystrokes results in frosty land mines, electric steam beams, icicle machine guns and goblins popping like balloons filled with spaghetti sauce. Magicka would be an easy must-play recommendation if it weren't for a distressing amount of glitches.
