Legacy of Kain: Defiance review

The final title of the saga brings out more of Kain and Raziel, as we try to reach the closure of this long story of vengeance, betrayal and inner conflict. We find ourselves seeing the union of the main characters in the past 4 games, and we also see the final big work that Eidos brought to this captivating saga. Absolutely a must for all the fans of Blood Omen and Soul Reaver sagas.

The final adventure of Kain and Raziel

By commanderhavoc posted 3rd May

Step once more into the roles of Kain and Raziel in the final part of the Legacy of Kain series and fight against an untold evil that lurks in the shadows, just waiting to strike when the world is at its weakest.

You will be exploring ancient ruins that have murals that depict important events in the vampires' distant past and also see what might happen in the future.

Bought this game on PS2 and it's aged well. However, some of the old game mechanics are showing their age. An updated HD release with better controls would be better than a straightforward port.

This game is the end of the Legacy of Kain series, and does a pretty good job finishing the story. Defiance is more action oriented that the previous games in the series as it focuses more on combat than the puzzle aspect.

In this one you get to play as both characters, Raziel, and Kain. The chapters go back and forth between the two as it leads up to an epic end to an epic story.

This is one great game. If you like Legacy of kain series, this game isa5-star for you. Storyline is great, it has many unpredictable twists and thurns ,for you get the chanse to fight both Kain and Raziel. It's a nice concept between the fights, and the story keeps a balance between the 2 poles of power: kingdom and religion. The graphics are better than the older games and the new fight system is actually very good.

The last game made in the series sadly. This one you get to play as both Kain and Raziel. This makes gameplay more varied as they both have specific abilities. The story and voice acting are also strong again in my opinion. Good game, and sadly it seems like it might be the last made in the series.

Legacy of Kain: Defiance review

Kain's character had been featured in Blood Omen games, one prior to Soul Reaver, one in the middel of it, and Defiance acts as a conclusion for both character arcs. Kain plays as a more straigh action character, quite different to Raziel, and it may feel sometimes that you have to play Kain pieces to enjoy Raziel's. Defiance is maybe the weakest of the three Soul Reaver games, but great nonetheless and the final act of a great story.

The last piece of the series (to this time). A great end for a great series, Defiance brings you to the cloudy past of Kain. Able to control Kain or Raziel in parts of the gameplay, this game gaves you new possibilities of play style and advances against your foes. As Soul Reaver 2, this game improved his graphics in comparison with his predecessor.

The last of the Legacy of Kain series. The climax, the epilogue... or is it? The graphics are far the best of course, but YES, the story still keeps you! In this game we take control over Kain and Raziel, so if someone was bored with Raziel, you have the opportunity to play with Kain. One of my favorite games of all-time, the collection is a must buy!

A great conclusion for LOK games. It has all the good things from previous games. This time you can use both Kain and Raziel, you really can't ask more as a LOK fans. Don't miss this.

The game has a superb story line: many unpredictable twists and thurns, with an interesting concept to fight against destiny for free will. Good graphic, much better than other LOK games, and new cool battlesystem, with mid-air combat! There're some problems with the camera, anyway it's a must for all LOK fans!

Legacy of Kain: Defiance review

This is the fifth, and the final game in Legacy of Kain universe.Defiance is the only game in the series where both Raziel and Kain are playable: previous Soul Reaver installments focused on Raziel while the Blood Omen series focused on Kain.

Defiance picks up after the cliffhanger ending of Soul Reaver 2, and takes place in the consequential fourth timeline. After executing Raziel to be revived by the Elder God during the events of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, Kain travels backwards through time and is followed by Raziel into Nosgoth's past, uncovering the conspiratorial events that led to the land being doomed to an eternity of corruption.

I dont want to spoil more...great story, great game

Legacy of Kain: Defiance review

By dukenukem89 posted 3rd January

Defiance is the final chapter in the Legacy of Kain series and it's every bit as great as its antecessors. The players will not control Kain or Raziel alone this time, as Defiance is meant as a closing chapter for both of their journeys. Instead, we got a game in which we control both characters, depending of the moment. The amazing story ends here.
